This role is responsible for the information platform needed to support business processes, service planning and contract compliance for the Hospitals group. KEY TASKS EXPECTED OUTCOMES Data & Statistical Information Analysis Provide a specialist data analysis role within the Hospitals Group Team Provide patient level costing, in-depth analysis and interpretation of clinical information for strategic planning, service change, contract reporting and utilization review. 2 KEY TASKS EXPECTED OUTCOMES Analyse data from multiple sources to include NMDS, NNPAC, PRIMHD, Census and other DHB data sets. Discuss data requirements with team, Initiate and plan statistical/analytical work to meet Hospitals Group needs and make adjustments as and when required. Investigate core errors and resolve discrepancies that become apparent in the results of any data queries. Resolve complex analytical queries/issues and determine the best solution. Explain complex analysis to all users of the information as and when required. Plan tasks and activities and make adjustments when necessary to ensure work is completed on time. Propose and implement where appropriate changes to working practices to keep in line with new legislation or guidelines. Redesigning statistical information to meet local managerial needs e.g. advising on new/changed data collections. Assist in the development of operational KPIs and develop monitoring systems to report against them. Documentation of processes and business rules Ensure Hospitals Group have easy, reliable access to key information on a regular basis that enable them to make informed decisions. Data Reporting Provide advice to the Hospitals Group to help analyse, interpret and verify internal and external reports. Develop and produce regular, weekly, monthly and quarterly reports as required to support the functions of the Hospitals group to include: IDF monitoring report to include inflows and outflows Quarterly PHO reports Provide detailed analysis of variances Provide statistical advice on trends Data Quality Assist in data quality activities such as investigation of data inconsistencies and feedback to the appropriate staff to be corrected. Develop reporting systems which focus on data quality and highlight any areas for investigation Participate where appropriate to implement Waitemata District Health Board -JOB DESCRIPTION - Page 2

Participate in the Health Intelligence and Analysis team (HIAT) meetings to promote pan organisation wide discussion of health information. Funding Envelope Analyse and summarise impact of IDF washup process Peer review IDF templates Production Planning Provide technical advice to annual volume and contract setting process Analyse volume trends Provide peer review of technical work done by the provider to complete provider capacity planning and volumes setting Manage version control and ensure compliance with MOH technical requirements Provide cross check of production plan volumes and revenue against other DHB annual plan documents Mental Health IDF process Participate in regional IDF meetings Analyses historical trends Data quality checking of internal and external data Provide advice on the Funding envelope and IDF utilisation spreadsheets Provide peer review of Decision Support Group IDF work Projects Other priorities as identified and agreed with Funding and Development Manager Hospitals Statutory & Treaty of Waitangi obligations Ensures the professional and political integrity of WDHB by carrying out all functions in compliance of the Treaty of Waitangi and by demonstrating a serious commitment to keeping the treaty alive. 5 PERSON SPECIFICATION POSITION TITLE: Senior Information Analyst Minimum Preferred Qualifications Experience / Knowledge Personal Attributes A health information, business or health related tertiary qualification Experience working with Health Information Advanced Microsoft Office Understanding of SQL report/query writing using Microsoft SQL Server (including Database design, Stored Procedures, Indexes and Triggers) or other tools An understanding of database design and data warehouses Knowledge of the NZ Health Data Dictionary and Common Counting business rules. Excellent numerical analysis skills Good written and verbal communication skills Good Presentation Skills Self starter with good organisational and problem solving skills and ability to work to timeframes and meet deadlines. Ability to work effectively within a team Shows initiative is willing to take responsibility for own actions and decisions Is willing to learn from others and accept constructive feedback and reflect on own actions Presents professionally and acts as a positive role model for others Displays respect and Post graduate qualification in information management.
