1 Job Description London Development Manager Reporting to: FareShare Head of Operations Direct Reports: London Depot Manager Location: Deptford London Hours: Full time (35 hours) 9.00am to 5.00pm Salary: 35,000 to 37,000 About FareShare FareShare is a national charity fighting food poverty by tackling food waste. We source food that is surplus to requirements from food retailers and manufacturers and engage many volunteers to help redistribute this to local charities and community groups that provide meals to vulnerable people (individuals who are homeless, unemployed, socially isolated, recovering from addictions). FareShare now operates 17 warehouse depots around the UK and supports over 900 local groups our Community Food Members. Over the past year 4200 tonnes of food were redistributed by FareShare depots nation-wide, feeding 43,700 people daily. London depot Our depot in Deptford works to serve 110 Community Food Members (CFMs) in the London area. In the course of a week the depot is open Monday Friday, between 7.30am and 9pm. We receive deliveries from various food companies and with the help of around 50+ volunteers monthly, we distribute over 40 tonnes of food each month. Our future plans include increasing both our CFM customer base and the volumes of food we distribute. We have the ambition to more than double the number of charities we support, the food we redistribute and the people we feed across London. To achieve this we need to develop strong and strategic partnerships as well as provide clear and focused leadership to ensure a high level of efficiency.

2 Main purpose of this role Provide leadership and direction to meet ambitious strategic and operational performance targets in London by creating partnerships and raising awareness of FareShare with local government across London, local and national food suppliers and community volunteering organisations. Also to manage and support the London depot staff and lead by example to ensure that our ambitious targets are met and ensure continuity of delivery standards within the guidelines of FareShare national policies and procedures and the needs of the local community. This is an exciting opportunity to manage and lead the ongoing development and expansion of FareShare London across the region, and in so doing confirm the London depot as an exemplar for the wider FareShare network. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Operations Overall management and leadership of the London depot to maintain operational performance and ensure that Community Members needs are met Support the London depot manager with the implementation of new routes resulting from the Community Food member growth With the National Operations Team and London Depot manager introduce new models of working with Community Food Members and support the depot staff with the implementation of those models Working with the Food Sourcing Team to ensure enough food is available to meet the delivery objectives, whilst exploring and maintaining relationships with local food companies Work with the depot manager for the delivery of the Community Food Members advisory visit programme for FareShare London To carry out any other duties as may be reasonably requested 2. Development Research, identify and recruit new Community Food Members by working with the national marketing team to develop relationships and partnerships with external organisations to raise awareness and the profile of FareShare, particularly local and national government, national charities and volunteer agencies To ensure that FareShare London meets ambitious strategic growth targets

3 Be responsible for the recruitment through relationships with volunteer agencies and working with the skills and training manager to develop best practice for the management, development and engagement of volunteers. Responsibility for the management of the FareShare Late project to ensure that the project is adequately funded, supporting the depot staff with the operational implementation, and working with the Food Sourcing Team to develop this project and other local food relationships strategically. 3. Standards To uphold and develop with the depot manager high quality customer care protocols and processes towards our Community Food Members Responsible for the continuity of FareShare high standards in all aspects and with all stakeholders both internal and external. 4. Marketing and communication Promote the work of FareShare positively and proactively including representing FareShare London in communication with the local media and contributing to National communications for FareShare London Lead initiatives on PR and communication for FareShare London with the support of the national marketing team, ensuring that Community Members are well informed and that awareness raising is progressed to the wider London audience Ensure data is captured and up to date regarding all development activity and provide the Marketing and Communications Team with timely information as agreed 5. Administration & Finance Manage and monitor an annual budget to ensure costs are controlled and relevant to the annual budget and build increasing levels of sustainability. Be responsible for the Community Food Membership income and work with the Fundraising Team and the Finance Team to ensure the financial viability of FareShare London. Work with the finance team to develop internal KPI and efficiency indices.

4 6. Leadership Management experience that will get the best from direct reports and strengthen the overall management of the London depot. Provide first class management to the depot team so that through clear objectives and direction they deliver against objectives and are motivated and inspired to secure the London depot strategic objectives. Provide insight and be able to present the depot strategic performance with confidence to the wider FareShare team. Person Specification Experience Leadership of multi dimensional projects from operational and strategic perspectives Financial management, including control over income and expenditure and performance measures Working with and developing volunteers who may feel vulnerable or need support Leadership management skills- including the ability to motivate and develop people to deliver high levels of performance Development of project marketing and media campaigns to increase brand awareness and profile High level communication skills and ability to engage at all levels with diverse external stakeholders. Developing long term partnerships with external stakeholders in achieving strategic goals Experience of working in a regulated environment and demonstrable risk assessment capabilities Skills, knowledge and abilities Problem-solving skills and the ability to make effective decisions on the spot. Confidence and bearing to act as an ambassador for FareShare to diverse audiences of external stakeholders strengthening the brand and raising awareness. Strong presentation/facilitation skills to promote awareness of the FareShare mission Delivering customer service- the ability to deliver excellence through a competitive service offer to all stakeholders IT literacy, in particular of using Microsoft applications Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to create good work partnerships with multiple stakeholders both internally and externally Ability to work systematically to agreed guidelines in the absence of close supervision
