1 Siobhan Davies Dance is looking for a Development Manager to join our management team and support the delivery and development of the fundraising activities for the organisation. Fundraising is seen as a shared responsibility at Siobhan Davies Dance, and this role will support the whole team in achieving voluntary income targets from diverse sources. Initially supported by the current experienced consultant, the Development Manager will work closely with the Executive Director to increase the organisation s capacity in fundraising and to develop the role to broaden the sources of income we can access. This will be an ideal position for someone with strong trust and foundation fundraising experience looking to either step up to a management role, or to expand their experience in the development of other voluntary income streams. Having successfully secured funding from Arts Council England as a National Portfolio Organisation (in consortium with Independent Dance), Siobhan Davies Dance has a refreshed business plan to take the organisation forward in the realisation of its aims and ambitions in the next 3 years. The statutory funding represents 42% of our income (2014/15), and further income is generated as earned income (34% from hires at the Studios and through fees and commissions) and voluntary income (24% from individuals and through trust and foundation grants). In addition to ACE support, we currently also have 3-year funding agreements with The Paul Hamlyn Foundation supporting our Next Choreography programme for young people and Esmeé Fairbairn Foundation supporting an artistic post and our dance artist/curator mentoring scheme. Siobhan Davies Dance is an artist-led international arts organisation dedicated to championing dance and dance artists as vital contributors to arts and culture in Britain and beyond. We aim to be the space for artists to create new work, stimulate discussion and cross-art-form interactions, and develop both their practice and the art form of dance to reveal and celebrate the intelligence and sophistication of movement and the moving body. Founded and led since 1988 by pioneering choreographer Siobhan Davies CBE, Siobhan Davies Dance has evolved over the years from a national and international touring dance company into a ground-breaking investigative contemporary arts organisation. Siobhan Davies curiosity drives the creation of collaborative new works that introduce choreography to, and reveal movement in, other art forms. These new works are central to our programme and provide a starting point for the extended activities of the organisation. Exploring the same theme of enquiry, these varied activities can then provide responses and further provocations to engage audiences and artists alike and in turn enrich the new works themselves. Our Studios are a place to connect with others, make new work or relax and maintain a sense of humour. Opening in 2006, Siobhan Davies Studios kick-started an explosion of activity, liberating what we are capable of and allowing us to support the making of far more work. It is important to us that our home is a beacon destination for dance experimentation, exploration and discovery hence we are delighted to share this creative space with like-minded organisations such as our close partners Independent Dance. Having our own building also gives us the opportunity to host exhibitions, to commission and invite artists into our space, and see them challenge and develop their individual practices in response to our unique environment.
2 Our programme also includes the development of creative education and participation projects, which develop our work into accessible creative learning programmes for education and the community. Placing choreography at the heart of exchanges between teachers, youth leaders and the wider public, this extensive programme offers alternative ways of experiencing dance to a broad range of audiences. By applying our artistic processes to the design of our participation projects we are able to introduce non-dance professionals directly to our dance artists practice.
