1 2014 Annual Report
2 Dear Friends, Our world grows less peaceful day by day. Many live in fear of terrorist attack, economic collapse or countless other disasters. Yet as we read in God s Word and have learned from the Persecuted Church, these difficult places of evident darkness provide opportunities for the Church to reflect God s love and light and shine in ways that push back the darkness and bring many into the Kingdom. We, the Open Doors International Board of Directors, feel so privileged to partner with you in serving the Persecuted Church and bringing the light of the Gospel to the darkest areas. As you will see and read in this Annual Report, God s light is shining brightly through His children. May we be encouraged to continue to stand firm together in the challenges ahead. Chairman of the Board / Open Doors International Open Doors 2014 Annual Report 2
3 Dear Friends, As Open Doors celebrates its 60th year of ministry in 2015, I am reminded of a simple lesson from the Persecuted Church: persecution encourages strong spiritual foundations and the clearing away of anything not essential to deepening our faith. The ultimate result is the fulfillment of God s purposes as many come to Christ! What an amazing God we serve. Perhaps that is why the Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Rome, Let us make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification (Romans 14:19, NIV). Our challenges in the Body of Christ are both external, with persecution as an example, and the internal struggle for peace and unity. So we are organizing this 2014 Annual Report around our Open Doors Core Values. They provide a strong foundation as we brothers and sisters in Christ seek to follow our Lord and align with His purposes. To Him be the glory. CEO / Open Doors International Open Doors 2014 Annual Report 3
4 Our Purpose To strengthen and equip the Body of Christ living under or facing restriction and persecution because of their faith in Jesus Christ, and to encourage their involvement in world evangelism by: n Providing Bibles and literature, media, leadership training, socio-economic development and through intercessory prayer; n Preparing the Body of Christ living in threatened or unstable areas to face persecution and suffering; and n Educating and mobilizing the Body of Christ living in the free world to identify with threatened and persecuted Christians and be actively involved in assisting them. We do so because we believe when one member suffers, all members suffer with it (1 Corinthians 12:26). All doors are open and God enables His Body to go into all the world and preach the Gospel. Our Core Values n We are part of the Body of Christ, a people to people people n We are Persecuted Church driven n We are people of the Bible n We are people of prayer n We live and work by faith n We are devoted to Jesus Christ and His commission n We are motivated solely for the glory of God Open Doors 2014 Annual Report 4
