1 TO: Council of Governors MEETING DATE: 9 February 206 SUBJECT: Governor Skills Audit AGENDA ITEM: PRESENTED BY: FOR: Steve Ohlsen, Lead Governor Review. Introduction All Governors were recently invited to take part in a skills audit; the objectives of this were:- To find out Governors views about the types of skills that they thought were required to be an effective Governor To find out which areas Governors would welcome more information and help To use the needs identified to support implementation of Trust delivered training plan To establish a baseline of skills performance to use as an annual review of progress Twelve responses were received; from nine public Governors and three partner Governors. The results of these are summarised in Annex. 2. Recommendation The skills audit identified the following areas for consideration for further training:. Knowledge of NHS- Finance and business skills, national policies and priorities 2. Developing the Foundation Trust Membership Strategy. Recruitment and Selection of Chair and Non Executive Directors 4. Participating in performance reviews of Chair and Non Executive Directors The Governors are asked to review these areas which will be used to structure the content of the development session scheduled for 2 April 206 and other Governors briefings.
