EHS Safety Training Program: The purpose of the Coastal Carolina University Department of Environmental Health and Safety Training Program is to provide university community members with the knowledge and tools necessary to reduce the risks associated with their learning, living and working environment to the lowest possible level. These safety training courses were developed in response to federal, state, and local regulations, accreditation agency requirements and institutional needs. CCU community members may elect to take safety classes individually or collectively to obtain the *10 or 30 hour training certificate. The OSHA 10 hour General Industry Training Program is intended to provide participants with a broad awareness on recognizing and preventing hazards in a general industry worksite. This training is OSHA's primary way to train workers in the basics of occupational safety and health. Individuals who complete this program will receive OSHA s 10 hour training pocket card. This training card is issued in the individual s name and never expires. The card demonstrates a commitment to safety and an effort towards voluntary compliance with all applicable OSHA standards.

2 EHS 10 hour Safety Training Program Certificate Requirements: 1. Participants must complete the registration form. 2. Participants must be complete the course of study within 6 months of the registered start date. 3. 3 EHS 1033 Ladder Safety Training EHS 1034 Compressed Gas Safety Training EHS 1035 Welding, Cutting and Brazing Safety Training EHS 1036 Emergency Response Safety Training EHS 1037 Hand and Power Tools Safety Training EHS 1038 Golf Cart / Utility Vehicle Operator Safety Training EHS 1039 First Aid (Four Hours) EHS 1040 Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED (Six Hours) EHS 1041 CPR and AED Refresher (Two Hours) EHS SAFETY TRAINING COURSES EHS 1001 Introduction to OSHA This safety training course provides a basic overview of OSHA s role in the prevention and elimination of workrelated illnesses and injuries. It includes information about employer and employee rights and responsibilities, and a very brief look at the inspection process, reporting and recordkeeping. EHS 1002 Walking and Working Surfaces, including fall protection and ladder safety This safety training course provides information that helps employees avoid injury from slips, trips, and falls. Slips, trips, and falls constitute the majority of general industry accidents. They cause 15% of all accidental deaths, and are second only to motor vehicles as a cause of fatalities. EHS 1003 Exit Routes, Emergency Action, Fire Prevention, and Fire Protection This course prepares employees to understand and prepare for workplace safety for fire protection and prevention, maintaining safe exits routes, preparation for other emergencies. EHS 1004 Electrical Safety This Electrical Safety training is designed for the general employee and is a comprehensive look at electrical hazards. The goal of this course is to raise awareness and help prevent common electrical injuries. EHS 1005 Personal Protective Equipment [PPE] This PPE training course informs employees how and when to use many types of personal protective equipment. They will also learn about head protection, hand protection, body protection and foot protection. EHS 1006 Hazard Communication This course teaches employees how to identify hazardous materials, read labels, use MSDS, and identify hazards by category. It thoroughly teaches safe work practices when handling hazardous materials and how to store them properly. Proper emergency response procedures are also covered in the hazard communication training course. EHS 1013 Machine Guarding This course emphasizes important rules to follow for safety when working with moving machine parts that have the potential for causing severe workplace injuries, such as crushed fingers or hands, amputations, burns and blindness, just to name a few. Learning these safeguards are essential for protecting employees from these injuries.

4 EHS 1015 Bloodborne Pathogens This course is designed for individuals who may be exposed to blood and body fluids during the performance of their work and who require a basic understanding of bloodborne pathogens, prevention of occupational exposure, and exposure follow up. EHS 1016 Ergonomics This course encompasses safety practices to reduce risk factors known to contribute to occupational ergonomic injuries and illnesses, such as sprains and strains and cumulative trauma disorders. These injuries are the fastestgrowing category of workplace injuries and are often caused by repetitive motion and stress. EHS 1021 Workplace Violence This course presents information on safety practices that provides the individual with critical guidance on how to recognize and survive workplace violence including an active shooter situation. This course encompasses ways to help prevent, and handle violence in the workplace. EHS 1033 Ladder Safety Training This course provides information on the hazards associated with the use of ladders. Ladders are one of the most commonly used pieces of equipment in almost any work environment. From common stepladders to sophisticated extension ladders, they can be found almost everywhere. This course teaches how to properly inspect and use ladders safely. EHS 1036 Emergency Response Safety Training This course provides information on the hazards associated with emergency situations. During this course, participants will review emergency response plans that cover several critical incident topics with an emphasis on hurricane preparation and emergency communications. EHS 1038 Golf Cart / Utility Vehicle Operator Safety Training During this course, participants will learn to prevent injury to pedestrians, cart operators and their passengers. This course reviews requirements for safe operating procedures, laws, and operator and supervisor accountability. Individuals will learn to utilize load principles of balance, stability, and capacity and how to identify safety concerns associated with golf cart and utility vehicle operations.
