4 Introduction This document provides a list of new/changed features, upgrade instructions and caveats, resolved issues, and known issues for FortiDDoS Cloud Monitoring Agent 5.0.0, build FortiDDoS Cloud Monitoring Agent only operates as part of Fortinet s FortiDDoS Cloud Monitoring service found here: FortiDDoS Cloud Monitoring Agent queries destination devices, services and servers in a similar fashion to FortiDDoS Cloud Monitoring service and reports its findings back to FortiDDoS Cloud Monitoring Service. Customers view all reports via the FortiDDoS Cloud Monitoring Service portal. FortiDDoS Cloud Monitoring Agent is intended to be installed: - at remote customer sites to monitor access to datacenter services - in geographies not covered by the existing 10 FortiDDoS Cloud Monitoring points and where the customer has concentrations of clients - at customer sites to monitor mission-critical cloud services like Office365, Salesforce, etc. For additional documentation, please visit: Fortinet 4 FortiDDoS Cloud Monitoring Agent Release Notes

5 What s new FortiDDoS Cloud Monitoring Agent is a new extension to FortiDDoS Cloud Monitoring service. FortiDDoS Cloud Monitoring Service includes 10 Fortinet-provided cloud monitoring points. Heath Checks based on standard Internet protocols can be configured from any or all cloud monitoring points towards monitored servers and devices those owned by the customer or those used by cloud services critical to the customer. FortiDDoS Cloud Monitoring Agent is a Virtual Machine application that extends the monitoring function to wherever the VM is installed. Typically this would be: - Customer branch offices to monitor availability and latency to corporate datacenter resources - Customer branch and enterprise sites to monitor availability and latency of critical cloud-based applications such as Office365, Salesforce or Gmail. - Geographies not covered by Fortinet s monitors to monitor availability and latency to corporate resources from clients in those geographies. FortiDDoS Cloud Monitoring Agent will be installed in a virtual environment at the location desired. Minimal configuration is required locally. The Agent requires registration to FortiDDoS Cloud Monitoring service. Once registered, Health Checks can be added to the Agent VM via the. FortiDDoS Cloud Monitoring service. FortiDDoS Cloud Monitoring Service subscription levels determine the number of Agent VMs that can be deployed. All Health Checks will be configured via FortiDDoS Cloud Monitoring Service. Any/all Cloud and Agent VM Monitors can be chosen to execute the Health Checks. FortiDDoS Cloud Monitoring Agents will poll FortiDDoS Cloud Monitoring service, receive the Health Checks and begin to execute them. FortiDDoS Cloud Monitoring Agents will report all results to FortiDDoS Cloud Monitoring service. Customers will have access to all reports via the FortiDDoS Cloud Monitoring service portal. 6 Hardware support FortiDDoS Cloud Monitoring Agent is available as a virtual appliance, which requires a virtual machine environment. FortiDDoS Cloud Monitoring Agent supports the following hypervisor versions: VMware vsphere ESXi 5. 0/ 5. 1 VMware vsphere Hypervisor 5. 0/ 5. 1 The OVF file specifies 1 vcpu and 2GB RAM for deployment. 7 Image checksums To verify the integrity of the firmware file, use a checksum tool to compute the firmware file s MD5 checksum. Compare it with the checksum indicated by Fortinet. If the checksums match, the file is intact. MD5 checksums for software releases are available from Fortinet Customer Service & Support: Figure 1: Customer Service & Support image checksum tool After logging in to the web site, in the menus at the top of the page, click Download, and then click Firmware Image Checksums. Alternatively, near the bottom of the page, click the Firmware Image Checksums button. (The button appears only if one or more of your devices have a current support contract.) Users should ignore the message and proceed. Note: From the Dashboard, some System, Network, Interface status information may display incorrectly. User should confirm with CLI.
