4 The Portsmouth MBA programme Designed for busy professionals, the Portsmouth MBA is flexible taught in twoday blocks over two academic years ensuring minimal disruption to your work and home commitments. Students will be expected to attend Master Classes and an international residential that are delivered outside the two-day teaching blocks. You will benefit from the support of MBA academics and professional staff who understand the pressures of combining work and study. Our course structure is based on eight taught units of 15 Level 7 credits and two developmental units of 30 Level 7 credits that focus on professional development and research skills. 6 In addition to the taught elements of the Portsmouth MBA, you will participate in the following: UK Residential The UK residential in Year 1 launches the programme s focus on leadership development in a relaxed conference environment. It is an opportunity to assess your strengths and learn from others. This residential sets the stage for your leadership development planning and introduces you to the benefits of one-to-one executive coaching sessions. International Residential This residential focuses on global business, organisational strategy, leadership, economic development and the impact of national culture on business. Company visits give you exposure to diverse industries and a wide range of business models and challenges. The residential also entails a blend of lectures and cultural activities. Executive Coaching You will have the opportunity to have a series of oneto-one conversations with trained coaches, designed to support your personal growth and transformation. This complements your classroom teaching and supports the integration of new knowledge and skills which you can apply to your business challenges at work. Master Classes These specialist classes are offered in a conference format and bring together students, MBA alumni, senior researchers and guest speakers to explore a variety of elective subjects in depth. They reflect the latest business research and practice, and incorporate lectures, videos, guest speakers, group discussions and team working. Consultancy Project The Portsmouth MBA prepares you to apply your management knowledge to a real-life business project. You will work in small teams exploring a strategic challenge and recommending a course of action to the management team. 14 Entry requirements Duration: 2 years Mode of study: part time Entry requirements: second-class honours degree (or equivalent, including professional qualifications), not necessarily in a business-related subject, plus at least three years of postgraduate work experience at a professional or managerial level.
