1 Bookmaker Licence Application FEE: $310 Please note The Racing Act 2002 (which can be accessed via the internet at regulates the manner in which licensed racing bookmakers may undertake bookmaking in Queensland. The Racing Act 2002 also contains specific provisions relating to the activities of licensed racing bookmaker s clerks. Significant penalties (including imprisonment) may be imposed for breaches of the Racing Act As ignorance of the law is not a defence to such offences, you should gain a strong understanding of this legislation. Overview of licensing process for bookmaker 1) Make application to the Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing for a Certificate of Eligibility 2) Attach the following: Certificate of Eligibility Resume detailing current and past employment including experience in wagering and racing. Two (2) character references Copies of all Bank & other financial institutions statements for the last six (6) months Payment to Racing Queensland for $ being the application processing fee A recent passport sized photograph of yourself (Attach the reverse side to this application) A photocopy of proof of your identity e.g. drivers licence, birth certificate etc. If you are not an Australian citizen proof of your right to work e.g. certificate of residence/ photocopy of visa Publish /Use of Queensland Race Information application form. 3) Contact Queensland Bookmakers Association (QBA) to obtain a Bond 4) Deliver the application to a RQ Regional office or post to Racing Queensland, PO Box 63, SANDGATE QLD 4017 Payment Options Methods accepted: Cash, cheque, money order, credit card. 5 Conditions of licence In the event of such Licence being granted, I agree: 1. To observe and be bound by Race Club by-laws and Track Regulations, Regional Regulations and Rules of Racing of Racing Queensland in force from time to time during the currency of such licence and also such directions as may from time to time be made or given by the Committee, Stewards or officials of the Club. 2. That the Licence may be revoked at any time by the Racing Queensland Licensing Committee in accordance with the Rules of Racing and applicable Racing Queensland Policies. 3. Not to make any public statement or comment concerning any matter currently the subject of investigation or inquiry before the Stewards or Committee. 4. I acknowledge that I am personally bound by the Rules of Racing. Any corporation or any company for whatever reason shall not exempt me from my personal liability under the Rules of racing. I hereby authorise the Licensing Manager of Racing Queensland to make inquiries of the records kept by the Queensland Police Department and the police departments in other states and territories of Australia and New Zealand in relation to my application to Racing Queensland for a licence with the Racing Queensland. And as a result of such inquiries (where applicable) I hereby further authorise each of such departments to furnish to the Licensing Manager of Racing Queensland details of any convictions recorded against me and details of any charge found by a court to have been proved and not recorded as a conviction subject to my entering into a bond of good behaviour. The Racing Queensland Licensing Committee advises applicants that the issue of Identification cards shall not be interpreted as being acceptance of a licence/registration. Under the rules of racing a licence/registration is approved only when such licence/registration has been confirmed by the Racing Queensland Licensing Committee. ID Cards remain the property of Racing Queensland and must be surrendered on termination of licence or registration. Racing Queensland collects personal information about you when you apply for a licence pursuant to the Racing Act 2002 and the Rules of Racing. Racing Queensland, as part of its Licensing and disciplinary processes may disclose such information to third parties as part of the process of considering whether to grant or maintain your licence. You do not have to supply any information sought but failure to do so may result in your application for a licence being refused or withdrawn. By completing and submitting this form you authorise Racing Queensland to collect, use and disclose personal information about you for the purposes of the Racing Act 2002 as amended and regulations along with any associated policies, conditions and guidelines and the Rules of Racing.
