Time in the market vs. Timing the market An investor who put their money into the S&P/TSX on June 30, 1989 would have earned an annual return of 5.2% over the 20 year period ending June 30, 2009 Missing the five best weeks over that same 20 year period would result in an annual return of 2.6% Missing the ten best weeks over that same 20 year period would result in an annual return of 0.9% Financial markets are dynamic and constantly changing, incorporating prudent asset allocation into portfolio construction increases our chances of success.

Example: Large Cap Canadian Equity According to S&P, over a 5 yr period ending Q only 5.9% of actively managed funds outperformed their benchmark. Over a 3yr time period the number improved modestly to 12.1%.
