4 FIFTH DAY THE HOLY YEAR OF MERCY AND THE VATICAN (only on Wednesday) It is advisable to arrive early in St. Peter s Square for Hearing the Pope. Dress properly in order to have the opportunity to enter into St. Peter. Men s legs need to be completely covered (trousers only). Ladies can wear knee length skirts/shorts. Both men and women are to have shoulders covered. These regulations exclude children. Later you can visit the Vatican Museums (we recommend to reserve) or Castel Sant Angelo. Piazza S. Angelo SIXTH DAY ROMAN WALK: LOOKING FOR CARAVAGGIO AND SOME LITTLE CURIOSITY ABOUT THE CITY (With the assistance of a volunteer Assocampi) The day begins reaching Piazza del Popolo to visit the Basilica of Santa Maria del Popolo that keeps a lot of important artworks and, in the Cerasi s chapel, the Assumption della Vergine by Annibale Caracci and two other works of Caravaggio: la Crocefissione di Pietro and la Conversione di San Paolo. Continuing along Via Ripetta and Via della Scrofa, you arrive at the Pantheon. Then you can reach the church of San Luigi dei Francesi where, into the Contarelli's chapel, you can admire three paintings by Caravaggio dedicated to San Matteo cycle: Inspiration, Martyrdom and the Vocation. Afterwards, a few meters away, you find Sant'Agostino s church, where it is visible La Madonna dei Pellegrini, considered the most beautiful masterpiece of Caravaggio. Now you cross Piazza Navona reaching the Chiostro del Bramante, considered the most beautiful example of the early Renaissance in Rome. Inside, if you want to take a rest, there is a cafeteria immersed in an unusual atmosphere. It is not still enough! We are in Rome! Even from inside the cafeteria you can look through a window that opens out directly in the church of S. Maria della Pace and admire the frescoes by Raffaello with the help of an interactive electronic panel. The walk then continues towards Palazzo Spada where you can see the perspective of Borromini, an ingenious "trompe oeil" and then finishing with a look at the beautiful Renaissance palace in Rome, Palazzo Farnese.
