2 About GU-GLEE Overview Gifu University Global Environment and Energy Course (GU-GLEE) was established to nurture highly-educated professionals who can serve as future leaders in solving environmental and energy problems both globally and locally i.e., glocally. This course also aims to foster professionals who can create and develop new fields of industry in collaboration with regional industries. This course is open to both international and Japanese students. All lectures and seminars on cutting-edge technologies in environmental and energy engineering are conducted in English. In addition, students are required to take part in internship programs. International students are placed in good-standing Japanese companies while Japanese students are placed in overseas companies or educational and research institutions. The objectives of GU-GLEE are: - To provide students with extensive learning opportunities on cutting-edge technologies related to environmental and energy engineering. - To furnish a unique graduate study environment consisting of both international and Japanese students in GU-GLEE so that they can be exposed to diversity in the global society. - To offer an interactive and active-learning program in workshops that guide students to working together as a team and developing their methods and skills in finding the best solution for a problem. - To help students better prepare for their future professional developments through hands-on working experiences gained in the global internship. - To promote active exchange of students and researchers between GU and partner universities through the collaborative research and educational programs. - To provide comprehensive support and assistance to students throughout the course of study. - To foster solid global and local networks with GU-GLEE alumni that help create the future of our glocal society.

3 GU-GLEE hopes to meet the following objectives: admit international (foreign) students and dispatch Japanese students through our overseas partner university programs improve collaboration with participating overseas partner universities strengthen academic relationship through collaborative research and lectures, mutual visits, and academic exchanges promote active exchanges and strengthen relationships among researchers from partner universities provide student support and assistance prior, during, and after course enrollment provide follow-up support and networking opportunities for alumni Description of Courses offered Since coursework and research guidance are offered in English, students will be able to earn their master s degree. Certification Upon completion of the course, students will be awarded the following: (1) Master s degree in Engineering (from The Graduate School of Engineering), and (2) Certificate of Completion of Gifu University Global Environment and Energy Course Financial Support (for International Students) Financial assistance will be provided to all international students. The following academic fees will be waived: (a) entrance examination fee (b) matriculation (university admission) fee (c) annual tuition fee (Tuition fees for the first two years of enrollment will be waived.) In addition, Gifu University will provide information of affordable-priced rental apartments. Subject to availability, Gifu University will also provide a two-year housing assistance (at Gifu University International House Building A & B).

5 Admissions Admission Requirements: Applicants are required to fulfill the following conditions: (1) Clearly understand the aims and requirements of this course; (2) Stand a solid chance of submitting a Confirmation of Acceptance issued by a prospective supervisor at Gifu University (GU); (3) Hold a bachelor s degree granted from one of GU s partner universities or be expected to obtain it; (4) Possess a sufficient level of English proficiency to complete this course. Selection Process Selection of candidates for admission will be made by screening their application documents and interview. Successful Applicants: Successful applicants must possess the following requirements: 1. Someone with a strong desire to acquire the knowledge and skills needed for dealing with various environmental and energy problems faced by developing countries and who wants to play an active global role in fulfilling that aim. 2. Someone with strong communicative ability in English and/or Japanese or who can demonstrate the motivation to acquire such skill through this course. 3. Someone with strong ethical consciousness & desire to make a contribution as leaders on environmental issues in their home country or in developing countries. 4. Someone who is willing to take a leadership role in environmental cooperation and exchanges.

6 Required application documents: Use the application forms included in this application package when specified. 1. A list of documents to be submitted by applicants Prepare all the documents in English. Make sure that all documents are completed accurately before mailing. Once submitted, the documents will not be returned to you under any circumstances. Application Documents 1 Application Form (Form 1) 2 Letter of Recommendation (Form 2) 3 English proficiency test score report 4 Proof of qualifications for admission Notes - Fill out the Application Form as instructed. - Attach a passport-sized photo (4.5cm(H) 3.5cm(W)) taken within the past 3 months. - Write the full name of your prospective GU supervisor as indicated on the form. Submit a Letter of Recommendation issued by your university supervisor. Submit an original copy of an English proficiency test score report from an internationally recognized standard such as TOEFL ibt, IELTS, and TOEIC. When it is not attainable, ask your university supervisor to evaluate your English proficiency and to add a report of the evaluation to the Letter of Recommendation (Form 2) as alternative proof. Certified copy of your bachelor s degree diploma or certificate of your expected graduation issued by the university. Certified copy of your transcripts issued by your 5 University transcripts university. 6 Medical Certificate Medical Certificate issued by a medical institution in your (Form 3) country. # Refer to the enclosed checklist to prepare all the documents before sending them out. 2. Application document to be submitted by prospective GU supervisor(s) Confirmation of Acceptance This form must be filled out and submitted to the address (Form 4) given in Ⅲ(3) by your prospective GU supervisor(s). The GU supervisor(s) will comprehensively evaluate your candidacy particularly in the aptitude and ability necessary to complete the GU-GLEE course. Interview will be conducted individually through face-to-face meetings, s, or international phone calls by your GU supervisor(s).
