Top of scale is set at step 34 amount. 10, 11, & 12-month daily rates are not interchangeable. All payrates and benefits are subject to change annually and are dependent on School Board budget approval and funding by the Board of Supervisors each separate school year. The summaries below are superseded by and subject to terms in the School Board official policies and regulations. EXPERIENCE / STEP CREDIT GCBA: is granted for all previous full time teaching in accredited schools under contract in accordance with state and local guidelines. Prorata credit given if work was at least half-time. Successful completion of the designated professional activities is a requirement for annual advancement on the school division s teacher salary scale. (See Sick Leave Plan for additional pay options dependent on your number of accrued sick leave credits.) MASTER'S DEGREE SUPPLEMENT GCBA: of $2,038 is paid to teachers with a Master's Degree earned at an accredited institution according to policy GCBA if documented by September 15. CAREER STEP GCBA: Employees with at least 25 years experience with or recognized by Campbell County School Division and at least 10 years of consecutive work experience with Campbell County Schools immediately preceding eligibility, are eligible for the career step at a 3% increase in their base salary for a maximum of 5 years consecutive or nonconsecutive. Eligible persons may apply for this benefit by writing to the Personnel Office by May 31 st. *Please note that pay will decrease 3% if the option is deferred or after receiving the benefit for 5 years. 2 RETIREMENT PLAN GBO/GBOA/GDS: Teachers are covered by Social Security and an excellent Virginia Retirement System. VRS contributions are provided for each teacher. As a condition of employment with Campbell County Schools, full-time employees are required by law to pay 5% of their VRS Contracted Salary for retirement..employees pay the going rate for Social Security. Continued participation in the county health insurance plan may also be available, if eligible. EXTRA PAY GCBB: Pay based on extra duties is available for teachers in areas of extracurricular activities and instructional leadership. Summer School opportunities may be available. HEALTH INSURANCE GDS: The School Board offers comprehensive Anthem [Blue Cross Blue Shield] insurance at a reduced rate to all full-time employees. For the school year, the School system paid: $4, for the Employee Only, $7, for the Employee + 1 and $7, for Employee/Family on the premiums of the employee's insurance. The Lumenos monthly plan rates for 12 pay installments for the employee s share for was: Employee Only $65.00, Employee + 1 $200.00, Employee/Family $560.00, Dental $11.50 plans are available with additional rates for added coverage. Coverage and premiums are evaluated annually for each plan year effective January 1. The Campbell County School System moved to an Anthem High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) effective January 1, This plan provides employees enrolled in the HDHP an opportunity to participate in a Health Savings Account (HSA). The HSA allows employees to contribute pre-tax earnings toward qualified medical expenses. LIFE INSURANCE GCBC: The amount of life insurance equals twice the amount of the teacher s payscale base amount rounded to the nearest thousand of VRS reportable salary. The benefit amount doubles in the event of accidental death. It is provided through VRS/Minnesota Life with Campbell County School Board paying the premium for the employee. Optional, additional insurance is also available through VRS/Minnesota Life. TUITION PAYMENT GCBC: Up to $900 of tuition reimbursement payments for college course work (maximum of $450 for one course) is available with prior approval. Our in-service program offers a variety of activities. Also, each teacher receives six days' pay for three teacher scheduled and three principal scheduled days professional activities. Failure to fulfill inservice day requirements will result in remaining on the same step, without pay advancement. LICENSURE GC: The Campbell County School Board provides payment for actions needed on employed teacher licenses. (7/18/96, 6/8/00) School Board Policy Examples: $50 initial licensure, $25 for renewals, evaluations, added endorsements and alternate routes to licensure are available and supported by the County. PERSONAL LEAVE GCBD/GDBD: Teachers who work at least six months are entitled to four days of personal leave per year (2 with full-pay and 2 with partial-pay). Unused full-pay personal leave days are added to the employee's accumulated sick leave up to the maximum limit. Twelve-month teachers earn vacation days with the number of days increasing with additional years of service. SICK LEAVE PLAN GCBD/GCBDD/GCBDD-H: Teachers may accrue leave days earned at the rate of one day per month worked. Sick leave credits are transferrable from other school divisions within the state. Up to $30.00 per day is paid for unused earned sick leave at retirement. A voluntary sick leave bank is available to help protect against catastrophic illness or injury - please apply if interested. Three days special allotment Bereavement Leave days are also provided per sick leave policy, in cases of death in the immediate family. Unused personal and vacation days convert to sick leave. If eligible and elected, 200 earned sick leave days may convert to a step on the payscale or an additional career exchange step. PAYCHECKS/PAYDAY: Paychecks are issued the last workday of each month, with appropriate deductions for taxes, health plan, annuities, credit union, dues, etc. All contract employees are paid monthly in twelve equal installments. Direct deposit is available and recommended. If the length of employment reduces a month or more, the number of pay installments may be cut back and/or changed- check with the Payroll Office for details. LIABILITY INSURANCE GCBC: The School Board carries a liability insurance policy on teachers. The policy provides coverage per annum for the school division. Also, workers compensation and unemployment insurance are provided. Experience Computed As Follows For Placement Into A New Position: a) Experience, not to exceed ten years, will be accepted from another school system. b) Teaching experience, either private or public, will count at a ratio of five years experience or major fraction thereof, to one step. c) Principals' and central office directors' experience will count at a ratio of one year experience to one step. All other Administrative/Supervisory experience will count at a ratio of two years experience to one step d) Placement on this payscale presupposes the degree level endorsement(s) needed for the position, and no additional pay supplements are paid Career Step: 1) Employees with at least twenty-five years experience with or recognized by Campbell County School Division's and at least ten years of consecutive work experience with Campbell County Schools immediately preceding eligibility, are eligible for the career step at a 3% increase in their base salary for a maximum of 5 years consecutive or nonconsecutive. 2) Eligible persons may apply for this benefit by writing to the Personnel Office by May 31st. 3) Please note that pay will decrease 3% if the option is deferred or after receiving the benefit for 5 years.
