Our people at their best Level 1 Location Brisbane Hangar Department Engineering Operations Division Fleet Engineering Group Operations Direct Reports Nil Reports to Maintenance Programs Team Leader Manager once removed (MOR) Fleet Programs Manager Role Scope (size of revenue / expense budget) Created / Updated 25 May 2016 Role Summary Role purpose The Maintenance Programs Engineer is responsible for keeping the VAA Fleet aircraft Approved Maintenance Program (AMP) up-to-date with amendments from the Aircraft Manufacturers, Regulatory Authorities, Vendors, and Fleet Engineering & Maintenance Support sections within Virgin Australia Airlines. The Maintenance Programs Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all AMP Tasks are entered as Engineering Controls and Task Cards in the TRAX Maintenance Control System as required, and are scheduling / planning correctly. The department is responsible for maximising aircraft availability to the business whilst ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements. This is to be delivered in the most cost effective manner - never comprising safety. Accountabilities and Key Metrics Accountability Major activities Key Metrics 1. Maintenance Programs Review MPD/MRB revisions, evaluate variations to the Maintenance Programs and enter updates in Trax. Compile initial maintenance programs for aircraft being introduced to Virgin Australia for CASA approval in accordance with CASR 1998 Subpart 42.J.3. Continuing Airworthiness Ensure aircraft maintenance programs for operated types comply with CASR Quality Ensure all repetitive maintenance tasks including interrelationships are correctly entered as Engineering Controls and Task Cards in TRAX, e.g. ADs, SBs, SLs, EOs, MPD Tasks, VB Tasks. 4. Maintenance Program To review MPD/MRB revisions and evaluate/check evaluation of amendments to the AMP for approval by a MPAE/ authorized person, and enter updates in Trax. Perform AMP evaluations and assessments of ECEs & ESRs, including submission for approval by a MPAE/authorized person if necessary, and entry of the requirements in Trax. Compile AMP for aircraft being introduced to Virgin Australia for initial CASA approval submissions. Conduct post lay-up reviews with the Maintenance Providers to identify opportunities for task effectiveness and efficiency. To optimize the AMP with regard to Reliability performance. Assess Bridging Maintenance Requirements when inducting previously used aircraft. Assess CMP revisions for effect on VB AMP. Internal/External Audit Findings Maintain accurate Work Instructions Number of revisions to internal instructions to correct errors or omissions. Number of major nonconformances arising from internal and external audits. 4 Expertise Knowledge Qualifications Must have Comprehensive knowledge, in respect to aircraft operated by the Airline of: (a) The regulations and standards applicable to aircraft maintenance programs and reliability programs (b) Maintenance requirements related to operational approvals (c) Regular maintenance requirements included in the instructions for continuing airworthiness for the aircraft operated by the airline (d) The specifications and standards that have been used by the type certificate holder to develop regular maintenance requirements for the aircraft (e) The aircraft s certification basis (f) The aircraft s structure and systems, including the propulsion system, for the aircraft/engine type operated by the airline that is equivalent to Level 1 as set out in Appendix III of the Part 66 Manual of Standards Have one of the following: (a)hold, or have held, an aircraft engineer license (or the equivalent) in category B1, B2 or C; OR (c) have a qualification in aircraft maintenance at least at Certificate IV level; OR (d) have a qualification in aviation maintenance management at least at diploma level; OR (e) have an engineering qualification at least at diploma level in any of the following disciplines: (i) aeronautical; (ii) avionics; (iii) mechanical; (iv) electrical; Great to have Practical experience of high capacity aircraft maintenance Type training course/s of the aircraft types operated by the airline MSG-3 Analysis & Methodology Post Graduate Degree in Maintenance and Reliability Engineering Safety Management Systems Skills A demonstrated ability to write clear and precise technical instructions. 5 Must have Experience At least 5 years experience in aviation. Experience of Maintenance Programs Great to have Aircraft Engineering & and/or LAME/AME experience Experience in Reliability Monitoring Programs.
