2 About West Fest : Photos by REP3 West Fest is an annual street festival in Chicago s West Town Community on Chicago Avenue between Damen Avenue and Wood Street. The event began in 2004 with 40 vendors and one live music stage, and each year West Fest has grown in size and popularity. In 2015 there were three stages, over 100 vendors, and 40,000 attendees! What makes West Fest so unique? West Fest stands out from the rest because it is locally planned and managed by the West Town Chamber of Commerce, thus the emphasis is on local offerings and local talent. West Fest features neighborhood retailers and restaurants, fine artists, crafters, and more. The event reflects the eclectic and hip West Town community, and is also known for cutting edge live music. The West Fest live music stage is booked by Empty Bottle Presents and features cutting edge original live music. Featured headliners in the past have included world renowned rock bands The Meat Puppets, Office, The Ponys, Redwalls, Califone, King Kahn, The Black Lips, Tortoise, The Oblivians, Mates of State, Murder City Devils, Dead Moon and many more. The high quality music makes West Fest stand out from other cookie cutter street festivals in Chicago. This is the 10th Anniversary of the West Fest DJ Stage and producers plan to showcase some high profile local, national, and International DJs this year with a special celebration TBA. Since 2006 West Fest DJ Stage has annually hosted some of the most well known DJs in Chicago such as Jesse De La Pena and our Sunday night staple, Derrick Carter. The 2016 DJ Stage will again focus mainly on Chicago House music that gets the crowd moving! There is something for everyone at West Fest. West Fest s Pet Fest and Kid Fest are big draws. Kid Fest takes place on an adjacent street (Wolcott Street) within the fest site and offers quality children and family activities including pony rides, live family friendly music, local theatrical performances, family friendly vendors, games and more. The 2016 activities in the Kid Fest area will exclusively benefit local Talcott Fine Arts and Museum Academy. Pet Fest is an area within West Fest featuring pet related vendors and sponsors, dog activities such as obstacle courses, bathing pools, and mobile grooming for charity. The family and dog friendly atmosphere and activities are a great fit for the West Town neighborhood. There is a $5 donation requested to attend West Fest. 15% of event proceeds benefit Talcott Fine Arts and Museum Academy and 85% of proceeds benefit the West Town Chamber of Commerce, a 501 C6 non-profit serving the community. 100% of Pet Fest activity proceeds benefit local animal shelters, and 100% of Kid Fest activity proceeds benefit Talcott. 3 Target Audience : West Fest appeals to a wide and sophisticated audience. West Town neighbors, families, pet owners, and Chicago-land festival, art, and music enthusiasts of all ages attend the event. Audience Survey: In a survey the average attendee was years old. 70% of the attendees surveyed were from the West Town Community area, and 30% were from other neighborhoods in Chicago and the suburbs. Estimated 2016 Attendance: 50,000 Photo by REP3 Additional Exposure : WXRT is the anticipated exclusive radio sponsor with over 40 promotional spots for the event, inclusion online in summer calendar with link, inclusion in electronic newsletter. The print media sponsor TBA will feature multiple display ads and online promotions, multiple digital ads; a promotional media package valued at over $40,000. Red Eye / Tribune / Metromix and Time Out Chicago are targeted for event advertising. The event is promoted on the chamber website and on the event s exclusive website Online Marketing: West Fest has a Facebook Page and Twitter account with numerous fans and followers that promotes the event. There were over 36,000 hits to the westfestchicago.com website in 2014, and the West Fest Facebook page has over 2000 likes and followers. Yelp is also an anticipated media partner and will blast their opted in list with information on the event and a link to the event website. Additional Advertisements will be placed in local newspapers and magazines and online pending sponsorship deals and final budgets.
