1 JOB DESCRIPTION C++ Data Platform Developer Role purpose The main purpose of the C++ Developer is to work on the data management platform which underpins both the Transport DMP and Visualisation product streams. Key responsibilities 1. To be work with the Visualisation and Transport DMP Technical Leads to develop the technology for ITO World s future growth. a. development of data importers and exporters for both static and realtime data b. development of online services to view, adjust and maintain a set of disparate datasets c. development of ITO publicity services to provide simple and intuitive transport information in a range of medias d. development of underlying platform capability to address further needs 2. To work with clients to develop and deliver projects a. develop new code to meet client requirements b. support data engineers and visualisation designers on the ITO platforms c. communicate clearly with client about any issues during the project d. assist the project manager in planning projects e. To coordinate with the data team to ensure that projects have the data they need in the format they need f. To coordinate with test engineers to ensure the platform is continuously tested for regressions and new features. 3. To assist with training new developers and support engineers as the team expands 4. To ensure developments to the platform are well documented a. ensure all development is well documented b. ensure all changes in the platform are communicated to all users c. ensure new capabilities are accompanied by suitable tutorials

To maintain a high quality skillset a. to keep up to date on developments in the languages (primarily C++), libraries (primarily QT) and services we use b. to be aware of and help disseminate wider technology developments in the big data space Reporting The C++ Data Platform Developer reports to the Transport DMP Technical Lead.

Transport Data Services ITO s Transport Data Management Platform (DMP) provides the highest quality, real time public transport data feed and disruption alerts service directly to some of the world s leading navigation and journey planning providers such as Google and others. ITO Go is a cloud based system for automating the design and production of traditional paper based roadside publicity material directly from the source data. ITO World is able to provide a multi media service across print, mobile and web for publicising public transport information services on behalf of transport authorities and transport operators. 2. Data Visualisation Services We use our expertise in data visualisation, together with our knowledge of geo analytics and real time data, to deliver striking visual insights that help our clients and their customers make better, more informed decisions and to share and publicise their stories. We help our clients: Communicate powerful stories with their data Visualise large amounts of geospatial data in real time Reduce complexity and understand complex networks & systems

4 Discover and reveal deep insights in their data Reduce the time to insight and help drive business decisions We are looking for an experienced and ambitious C++ developer to work on our Transport Data Management Platform products and services. Your role You will be a key team member, working with us to develop a class leading Data Management Platform to underpin all of ITO s data services and products You will be working in an environment that values you proactivity and ideas as well as your development skills and experience. Reporting to the Transport DMP Technical Lead, the role will involve: Developing the technology underpinning our Data Management Platform. Develop a range of importers and exporters to handle large volumes of disparate data both static and realtime. Develop a set of online services to help view, edit and maintain a large amount of complex datasets Ensuring that development of the platform is well documented, and that changes are communicated to other team members The role is based in Ipswich, though some remote working may be possible. What are we looking for? As a talented engineer, you will be an experienced C++ developer who excels in handling, analysing and distributing larges amounts of complex data. You will be excited by the prospect of working with a range of blue chip clients providing a range of products and services to help them with their businesses. You will need to be an excellent team player, able to contribute to our highly skilled developer team. You will also have great attention to detail, and will care about delivering high quality code that has been well tested and documented. Essential requirements: 3+ years experience of development in C++ in a commercial environment Proven ability to produce high quality, high performance, accurate code for deployment in an agile environment An innovative and creative approach to development Good communication and teamwork skills

5 Highly desirable: Experience of working with large, complex datasets Experience of developing modern web tools and services Experience of HTML5, CSS3, JQuery and other modern web based development Geospatial experience We also value the following (although they are not essential and can be developed within the role): Linux experience Amazon Web Services or similar experience Experience working within a startup or fast growing young company
