3 Before You Post Slow Down to Speed Up What candidate profile will make the BEST candidate? What key information will screen candidates in or out of the process? What information will candidates want to know? Where have you sourced candidates from before? And have been successful doing so?

4 Before You Post Know the Details To whom will person report? Add to headcount or replacement? Job title? (internal vs. external) Hours/Schedule? Location? Work environment? Compensation structure and range? Goals/Metrics? Competitors? Team dynamics? Management style? Challenges in the role/market? What makes the job/work appealing? Recruiting budget? Recruiting timeline?

5 Posting Do s and Don ts Craft an appealing job posting pitch the job! Review/edit the posting each time you use it Clearly state how to apply and what is required in the application cover letter, sample proposal Post on targeted sites to attract the best and diverse candidates Inform internal employees about the job Employee referrals are #1 source for sales candidates!

10 Screening Candidates Look for the basics Did candidate follow application instructions? Did candidate express genuine interest in station/job? Did candidate sell him/herself in cover letter and resume? Well-written, well-formatted documents? Did candidate do his/her homework and connect the dots?

Multiple touch points throughout the process Multiple interviewers: HR, hiring manager, peer, department head Multiple forms of communication: phone, in-person, written Different settings: in office, meet for breakfast/lunch Ask candidates what questions are on their minds
