1 Website Conversion Cheat Sheet The Fastest Way To Double Your List
2 Introduction The Fastest Way To Double Your List Here s how it works Let s say you get 500 website visitors a week and 2% sign up for your list. That s 10 new subscribers a week. Now imagine you increase your conversion rate from 2% to 4%. That s 20 new subscribers a week. With just a few website tweaks you can double your opt-in rate. And more subscribers means more customers. What this cheat sheet is for This checklist helps you identify ways to convert more website visitors into subscribers. Review each question in the check list. If you answer no (or not really ) to a question then you have an opportunity to tweak your website for more conversions. Now let s get started
3 Home Page 1. Do visitors know what you offer in 5 seconds or less? 2. Does your site differentiate itself from others in the same space? 3. Does your site appeal to your target customer (through language, images, design)? 4. Does your Homepage have a prominent opt-in above the fold? 5. Is there an opt-in incentive that s irresistible to your target customer? 6. Does each page have one main goal so visitors don t get confused? 7. If there s a right hand bar, is it uncluttered? 8. Are there links to your best content, e.g. from right hand bar or top navigation? 9. Are there any testimonials or social proof (to encourage opt-in or purchase)?
4 Navigation & About Page Navigation 10. Are the navigation titles simple and obvious? No need to confuse visitors by being obscure. 11. Are there 6 or fewer navigation items? Don t make your visitors think too hard. About Page 12. Does your About Page have a descriptive headline? Something more than About or About Me. 13. Does your About Page tell visitors what you offer them? Make it about them. 14. Does your About Page have at least one Call To Action (e.g. Opt-In)? 15. Are there minimal distractions on the About Page (remove side bar and footer)?
5 Blog Posts & Calls To Action Blog Posts 16. Do blog posts have a relevant Call To Action (e.g. ask for comments, Opt-In)? 17. Do blog posts encourage people to keep reading (strong title & introduction, story telling, suspense)? 18. Are blog posts easy to read (use of headings, bolding, bullets, white space)? Calls To Action (CTAs) 18. Are all CTAs relevant to other content on the page? 19. Do all CTAs use direct language ( Subscribe Now vs Why not subscribe by ? )? 20. Are any potential objections addressed head on (ease of unsubscribe, no spam)? 21. Do all popular pages (Home Page, About Page, Product/Service Pages) include at least one CTA?
6 Basic Design & Technical Basic Design 22. Is the font size and color easily readable? 23. Is the line length not too wide? 24. Is there a good balance of text, graphics, white space? Basic Technical 25. Are there minimal links sending visitors away from the site? 26. Are there any broken links? 27. Do pages load quickly? Use: Is your site easy to read on a mobile platform? 29. Is your site easy to find? E.g. listed high in search engines by company name. 30. Are you using Google Analytics to track statistics?
