1 Supervisors_2006_Candidate Strengths Question 17: Please comment on observed Student Teacher/Intern strengths: She is very motivated to learn as much as possible during her internship and has gone above and beyond in her efforts to learn about the children and where they are in their development. NAME has many positive strengths...two of his outstanding strengths were his communication skills and public relations skills. His ability to communicate will serve him well in the classroom and in the community. He is very personable and students and other adults respect him and feel comfortable taking risks with him. NAME has a positive attitute and will be an asset to any school district. NAME greatest strengths are in the areas of 1)Knowledge of instruction and of Special Education 2)Interpersonal skills NAME is very strong in content knowledge, and in the use of technology. Ability to communicate with students, good interpersonal skills Setting a positive classroom environment Professionalism Teaches to many different learning styles Creativity in creation of lesson plans Caring attitude toward every student This intern did a great job at assessing while teaching. I did ask her what her strengths and weaknesses were. She felt staying on task was her strength and she also indicated she didn t want to loose control in the middle of teaching. Overall my observations of her have been very positive and she has shown she is poised and confident in the classroom. She is very good the students and takes time and care when delivering instruction. I did have a brief session to discuss her teaching. She is very good at self-evaluation and uses her reflections to improve her instruction.

The intern is very organized and very creative. When she prepares a lesson she gears that lesson to several multiple intelligences and learning styles so that all of her students' learning can be facilitated Northern Michigan University has done an excellent job in preparing NAME to become an excellent classroom teacher. They have provided her with the necessary tools to become an effective and postive professional educator. I believe that Northern Michigan University has provided NAME with the knowledge and tools required to become an effective and positive classroom teacher. She possesses all of the characteristics required to become a professional teacher. I believe Northern Michigan University's department of education has well prepared NAME to become a

3 positive and effective classroom teacher. She possesses all of the characteristics required to be a professional teacher. I believe Northern Michigan University's department of education has provided NAME with the knowledge and tools that she will need to become a positive and effective classroom teacher. She possesses the moral characteristics required of a professional teacher. Supervisors_2006_Candidate s Weaknesses Question 18: <b>please comment on observed Student Teacher/Intern weaknesses:</b> Since she was placed in kindergarten for her internship, one would expect that she would have a strong background in early childhood. This is not the case. She has learned about the children and their development as she has been working in her internship. I have found this to be true in all early elementary placements. There were no apparent weaknesses in performance as a student teacher. Classroom management - she's working on it Inexperience Lack of confidence, she's working on it Fear of losing control. Limited classroom observation in special education resource rooms interpersonal relations,listening skill classroom observations prior to student teaching in resource rooms... Lack of experience in a Resource Room setting self confidence... Interpersonal relationships Lack of time in observing special education resource rooms prior to student teaching. Lack of training in phonetic based instruction of reading...lack of observation time in special education resource rooms. NAME and I discussed voice modulation. that were apparent to me. Not aware of any. Improved his communication skills throughout his student teaching experience. could be more proficient on playing all the instruments. 4 NAME had a very challenging class to work with and struggled a bit with management. I thought it was a good learning experience and she did improve and was very open to suggestions. NAME needed to work on pacing her lessons. She improved as the semester progressed and I am sure this will come with practice. NAME did not have any weaknesses. She has a very pleasant personality and take constructive comments very well and then acts on those comments. NAME treats ALL students equally with respect. He uses a multitude of appropriate teaching aids when lecturing or demonstrating tools and equipment in the industrial technology lab. He is extremely patient and understanding. He improved greatly since He is extremely self confident and sure of himself. He delivers lessons in a cool and confident manner. Steven has an extremely broad range of knowledge and competencies in a number of areas within industrial technology. He has a lot of on the job skil NAME has numerous strenghts. He is as good as any of the student teachers I've supervised in the past four years. He has an extremely friendly manner with the students yet is strict and commands respect. He tends to allow some students to "hang around" too much toward the end of class, rather than insist on them working hard until clean up time. NAME could afford to put more time into planning his lessons rather than always depending on those of his supervisor. It's odd, one of his strengtns could also be a weakness. At times he may appear to be too confident and self assured - at least in th noticed. observed Observed NAME needs to improve her feeling tone... NAME sets very high standards for her self and becomes frustrated when things don't go the way she planned. 6 Student discipline is an area of continued improvement. NAME has developed several classroom management strategies that have been successful. This made it difficult for him to develop good classroom management. Student teacher was not well prepared for interview questions. More time should be spent on this part of the practicum.
