2 ABOUT THE YOUTH EXCHANGE PROJECT PUPPETS SHOW GLOBE is happy to share the experience as Partner (Sending Organization) in the ERASMUS+ Project PUPPETS SHOW (Project Code LV02-KA ), a youth exchange organized by DAUGAVPILS JAUNIEŠU SAVIENIBA (Daugavpils Youth Union) with the Cooperation of Society ERFOLG (both Latvian Organizations). PUPPETS SHOW was a youth exchange that was held in Daugavpils, a second city of Latvia, from 28 th April to 7 th May 2016 with the involvement of participants from 5 different European countries: Latvia, Italy, Romania, Turkey and Poland. The aim of the PROJECT PUPPETS SHOW was to give the young people from different European countries the opportunity to get to know their own culture and the culture of other countries, traditional puppets and to integrate into the European society, to meet each other, to promote the intercultural dialogue and youth mobility, as well as awareness of belonging to the European youth community. These objectives were reached by using non formal learning methods, energizer and icebreaking activities, creative workshops, peer learning, and organization of national evening. During the youth exchange the participants worked together realizing handicraft master classes, creative workshops, presentation of Puppets Theatre in the partner countries, morning exercises. Also they got the chance to know each other, to learn new tradition and new aspects of other cultures and to share their own experiences. PUPPETS SHOW has provided to the participants the opportunity to:

3 - work together, - improve their creative skills, English language knowledge - increase their communicational skills, - do a social work with kids in the orphan house Priedite, - discover themselves, - see new things and visit Daugavpils. WHAT HAVE WE DONE? All participants developed the activities planned in a positive and creative way. Following a brief summary of daily activities. The 1 st day (Travel day) was dedicated to the welcome of the groups. During this day each national group travelled from their home countries to arrive in Latvia. All participants arrived in Daugavpils and were accommodate in Hotel ERFOLG. The hosting organization organized the welcome of the participants. The 2 nd and 3 rd days were dedicated to create the positive environment and the team and to introduce the project and the activities. Participants got to know each other better thanks to energizer, name games, team building and icebreaking activities. All together started to cooperate and share their expectations and needs and to define the common rules. Then the participants in mixed group took part in the City Game to discover the city. Then they developed a first workshop Brainstorming Puppets in which each national group described, with a creative approach, the means of Puppets in his own country. All together they visited Daugavpils Clay Center and they experimented the manual working with clay. Each of the days was dedicated to each country involved in the Project. In each day (dedicated to Latvia, Romania, Poland, Turkey and Italy) the national team organized a presentation about the Puppets in their country and then they presented a workshop to create the puppets with different simple materials (sheet, wool, glitter, colors, paper, buttons )

4 All participants developed the workshop together and they were very creative! Each day in the afternoon the participants visiting a new place in Daugavpils (for example the Fortress, Mark Rotko Art Centre, Daugavpils Municipality, Zabava - Daugavpils Puppets Theatre). During the Polish day the groups participated to the Event organized in Daugavpils for the national Polish day. This was a fantastic way to see and know the city and local tradition. All days all participants worked to create a final puppets performance for the last day to the orphan house Priedite. They were divided into mixed group to prepare the story, the scenography, the puppets, the music and so on for the final perfomance. Finally in the evening each national Team organized a cultural evening during which they presented their country and their city and prepared a quiz, music and dances. Finally they presented some typical dishes, sweet/salad, biscuits and beverage to taste. Very nice evening!

5 The 9 th day was dedicated to the Public event. In the morning the participants spent their time to ultimate the final performance and then all participants went to orphan house Priedite to stay with the children and to realize the Final Puppets Performance. It was a beautiful moment for all and it was a very participatory day!

6 At the end of the puppets performance the participants spent some time with the children organizing a workshop to create puppets or dancing and playing with the children. Finally they spent the last evening together and during the evening were organized the Youthpass ceremony and the recognition of the secret friend. It was a very nice evening with our new European family! The 10 th (Travel day) was the time to say goodbye!! In the morning all Teams went to the train/bus station where there were the first greetings. Hello Guys and See you soon!!

7 FINAL FEEDBACK Thanks to the activities carried out during the Youth Exchange Project PUPPETS SHOW the participants improved their communication skills, their ability to work in international team and their language skills. The Project had positive impact on personal and social development of the participants. This youth exchange allowed to the participants: - to discover the opportunity offered by Erasmus+ Programme; - to discover Daugavpils; - to live in a multicultural context and to know each other; - to be open minded, confident and free from prejudice. - to acquire creative skills and non formal learning methods, - to know the culture of other countries, and national traditions about Puppets. All participants worked actively during the activities and created a good and positive team, they spent their time discovering their self and different cultures and creating new friendships. We thank all national groups, the host organization in Latvia and the project manager assistant Artjoms Medvedevs for this experience and we hope to see each other very soon!
