The year is also coming to a close and it s the season to reflect. DACA has had to sadly say goodbye to some long-time community members this year. I miss her already. On the other side, DACA has also had the pleasure to welcome new individuals as well. DACA has hosted many events this past year and would like to thank all involved. We are looking forward to what 2016 will bring and we have already started planning events for the New Year. With saying that, DACA would also like to send out a Happy New Year! and we hope to see you in New Year s Party At DACA DACA will be hosting a New Year s Eve party to celebrate the turning of the calendar. It is scheduled for December 31st starting at 8:00pm going until 1:00am. The ticket price is $5.00 and any food donations will be sent to the local Food Bank. A DJ will be supplying the music so be sure to wear your dancing shoes. If you have any questions please contact Shellie Mulvihill at

3 DACA Breakfasts There have been 2 breakfasts already this season. The food was very yummy and the social aspect was heartwarming. The next breakfast is being held on January 27 th, 2016 at 8:00am to 11:00am. Meal includes Potato Pancakes, Scrambled Eggs, Fried Bologna, Baked Beans, Tea Biscuits and coffee/tea/juice. The breakfast after that will be held on February 21 th. Watch for further breakfast information in the upcoming months. Cost is Adults: $7.00; Children under 12:$5.00. The annual breakfasts are put on by Susan Keller and her Horse Draw Committee. If you haven t been to one before, then make a point of attending because the meals are delicious and the company is even better. Open Mike Joke of the Month Why is Christmas just like your job? Christmas Children s Party DACA once again will be welcoming jolly St. Nick to a children s party. The party will be held on December 13 th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. It is always a fun time when Santa visits. For more information please contact Crystal Legris at Christmas Carolling A tradition of Christmas Carolling lives on as DACA is proud to once again visit homes in the community to spread Christmas cheer. Carollers will be departing from the DACA center on December 19 th at 12:00pm. Baskets will be handed out along with a Christmas song or two. Any baked goodies that can be donated would be greatly appreciated. The baskets are being put together at the DACA center on December 17 th at 9:00am. Volunteers are needed to assemble the baskets, a nice time of the year to give back to your community. Christmas Float DACA entered a Christmas Float in both the Renfrew and Calabogie Santa Clause parades. The float theme was Santa s Workshop and was the moving stage for a lot of fun. Thank you to all who joined us in the fun. Thank You to all the volunteers who helped make this float possible. There was a lot of hard work to transform a wagon into a wonderful winter wonderland

4 DACA Job Opening DACA is looking to hire someone for hall cleaning. The center requires cleaning before and after events. The applicant can apply for the position by contacting Betty Frost at Healthy Heart Walking Program The Healthy Heart walking program is on a break until the New Year. The program will resume January 6 th. It is held every Monday and Wednesday morning at 10:00am except holiday Monday's. There is a monthly door prizes along with snacks. There is no charge to join. All you need to bring is a pair of comfortable shoes to walk in. Any questions please contact Betty at Hope to see you there. Age Friendly Survey The township of Greater Madawaska held a meeting in November at DACA. The topic was concerns and ideas for our aging community. There is an online survey for those that wish to take it. The online survey can be accessed with the following link: For those members that cannot access the online survey but would like to have a say, please contact the township Toll Free at (800) for more information. DACA Fundraiser It is in the early stages but DACA is hosting a fundraiser on April 30, It will be a Fish Fry and proceeds will help DACA to host more events for its community. Stay tuned for more details which will be forthcoming in future newsletters. DACA Newsletter Available By DACA is trying to reduce its environmental footprint by providing access to our newsletter by means of . We are also trying to reduce our costs in sending out the newsletters by postal mail. If you want to save some paper, and help DACA, you too can receive the newsletter in your Inbox. 5 Calabogie Peaks DACA Sponsor Calabogie Peaks has reached out to the DACA community and is offering discounts on certain items such as a ski passes and the use of its swimming pool among other items. Big or small the DACA Community Center can be rented for any event. Birthdays, reunions, showers or even just a party, make sure you check out what DACA has to offer. You are also able to find some awesome sales while shopping for the holidays. Both your home life and your professional life are kind of taking a backseat to your social and playful extroverted activities. It is not that you suddenly do not care about these things, only that you are far more interested in these happier more social aspects of your life at the moment.
