2 Oasis Oasis was established in 1985 and has now grown into a group of charities working to deliver housing, training, youth work, health care, family support and primary, secondary and higher education. In the UK we employ around 4,000 staff as well as working with thousands more volunteers. We also work in nine other countries around Europe, Asia, Africa and North America. Oasis Community Learning Oasis Community Learning is an educational trust established in 2004 with the express purpose of transforming learning, lives and communities through the development of Oasis Academies. Currently there are 44 Academies in the Oasis family across primary, secondary and post 16 phases. A new all-through Academy for Sheffield Oasis Academy Don Valley opened in September 2015 as a brand new all-through Academy for children aged 3 16 in the Darnall and Attercliffe ward of Sheffield. We are looking for an exceptional individual to join our new Academy. This post offers the successful candidate the opportunity to take a leading role in developing our Key Stage 2 provision and provide exceptional leadership for staff and children. It is an exciting opportunity to be a member of an Academy that is striving to provide and outstanding education for pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds in order to prepare them to have a positive impact on the world. About the School Oasis Academy Don Valley is a brand new all-through Academy on the site of the former Don Valley stadium in the Darnall and Attercliffe area of Sheffield. Out intake is mixed and comprehensive in nature, reflecting the ethnic diversity of Darnall and Attercliffe producing a culturally vibrant environment. We opened our doors this year to children from Nursery to Year 4. Our Academy will then grow year-on year, with our secondary phase scheduled to open in 2018, until 2022 when we will have year groups from Nursery to Year 11 and provide an exceptional education for all. The Academy s aim is to provide children in the Darnall and Attercliffe area with an exceptional education. Our goal is to create an Academy that is rooted in the community that local families are confident to send their children to, secure in the knowledge that students of all abilities will be catered for and each student will be encouraged to realise their full potential. We believe that we have an exciting opportunity to provide an education which will be planned and structured across the entire Academy so that pupils will have a challenging, cohesive and progressive experience from the time they enter at age two, all the way through to sixteen, when they leave the Academy.

4 Job Description POST KS2 Phase Lead RESPONSIBLE TO: Deputy Principal RESPONSIBLE FOR: In addition to the responsibilities of Class Teacher, as set out by the Class Teacher job description and the school teachers pay and conditions document, the holder of this post is expected to carry out the professional duties of a TLR post holder with responsibilities as described below, as circumstances may require and in accordance with the academy s policies under the direction of the head teacher. SALARY: MPS + TLR 2a (plus Teachers Pension Scheme) LOCATION: Oasis Academy Don Valley, Sheffield WORKING PATTERN: Full-time and as described in the School Teachers Pay and Conditions Document DISCLOSURE LEVEL: Enhanced JOB PURPOSE: To lead the staff of the Phase team to achieve high quality teaching, effective use of resources and the highest standards of learning and achievement for all pupils. To work with the senior leadership team in the strategic leadership of the school with particular responsibility for Key Stage 2. To have a positive impact on educational progress and achievement across Key Stage 2 To be responsible for the pastoral care of pupils in your team, dealing with incidents of behaviour and wellbeing of pupils To collect and take account of the views of learners, parents/carers and other stakeholders when developing teaching and learning strategies. To ensure that teachers are aware of the implications of equality of opportunity. To liaise effectively with senior colleagues to ensure consistency of approach in teaching and learning across the academy. To promote the aims and mission statement of the academy and Oasis Community Learning. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: A. Leading, developing and enhancing the teaching practice of others To be an outstanding role model for your team in terms of outstanding teaching, behaviour management and classroom management that sets a standard for other teachers to emulate. To provide guidance and support to staff in planning, implementing schemes of work and evaluation of teaching to raise standards. To provide guidance to staff in observational assessment and use of learning journeys and how these inform next steps. To monitor the quality of teaching and learning within Key Stage 2 including scrutiny of work and planning and lesson observations, taking responsibility for improved pupil outcomes To ensure that the class teachers deliver the KS2 curriculum effectively. To provide guidance to staff on assessing standards on entry, baseline information, phonics and basic key skills. To guide staff to support effective KS2 transition. To work with the teachers to promote best and innovative practice to enrich the range of teaching and learning styles in the academy. To support colleagues to create a stimulating and creative learning environment for EYFS To be a visible leader, attending evening events and meetings out of school time where appropriate To lead INSET training.

Management Responsibility To play an integral role in the formation and implementation of the Academy Development Plan, including evaluating its success To take the lead role in some areas of the Academy Development Plan, and be accountable for these aspects To lead and manage teachers and all practitioners in the phase. To enable all teachers to develop their expertise in planning and teaching through example, support and by leading or providing high quality professional development opportunities. To organise regular phase meetings to ensure continuity in teaching and learning. To ensure planning, record keeping and assessment is in line with academy policies. To lead on agreement trials, ensuring consistency in levelling children s work. To update teachers on changes to academy policy. To organise materials for, and co-ordinate, assessment and data return. To organise meetings for parents at the beginning of the year and ensure that all agreed information (e.g. targets) are sent out on time. To support Year 3, and later Year 6, transition through parental meetings, data transfer and target setting To liaise closely with support staff and other professionals so that they are able to make a significant contribution to teaching and learning in the phase. To liaise with staff to ensure smooth transition from one phase to another, including co-ordination of the handover of relevant documents. To induct, support and monitor new staff within the Phase. To lead Performance Management and professional development of Teaching Assistants in the phase. To ensure that resources for continuous and enhanced outdoor provision are effectively managed and deployed. C. Monitoring and evaluating the Curriculum To ensure that planning, assessment, target setting, recording and reporting systems are implemented in line with academy policy. To provide feedback to teachers and disseminate examples of effective planning and teaching To organise and lead meetings with staff to discuss portfolios of work to ensure continuity and progression of pupils learning is maintained across the phase. To monitor standards within the phase, analysing data from academy tracking systems, EYFS profile information and RAISEonline, and use this information to action required support. D. Other To safeguard the health and safety of self and others in accordance with the academy s Health and Safety Policy. To undertake decision making and policy development across the academy. To maintain lines of communication between the Leadership Team and staff. To promote good behaviour around the academy and support colleagues in promoting good behavior. To show a commitment to work outside directed time when required It is also the duty of the Phase Leader to develop personally and professionally through: o Reflection on own practice and private study, keeping abreast of new initiatives o Participation in appropriate in-service programmes E. Evidence of recent professional development. Evidence of enhanced DBS clearance. Right to work in the UK. Desirable 4 years full time teaching experience Evidence of leadership training and development. Experience, Skills & Knowledge High level of expertise in teaching and learning including end of phase assessment. An excellent classroom practitioner able to lead by example. A working knowledge of strategies and techniques for raising pupil attainment generally including different groups of pupils such as SEN and pupils under DDA legislation. Active involvement in the development of school policies. Experience of a range of summative and formative assessment procedures. Experience of target setting. Experience of working with children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Knowledge and experience of a range of teaching and learning styles which reflect structured sequences of learning to include cross curricular and skills focused learning. Knowledge and understanding of ICT for learning and leadership/management. Strong interpersonal skills: ability to lead, motivate, challenge and inspire colleagues and give feedback in a supportive manner Able to build team capacity. Able to establish credibility with all staff. Able to establish positive relationships with parents, carers and Academy Councillors. Experience of working in Foundation Stage, KS1 and KS2. Experience of allocating and managing a budget. Experience of EYFS baseline. Experience of APP. Experience of EYFS Profile and Outcomes. Experience of leading and managing within a school including curriculum leadership. Ability to analyse, interpret and act on test data.
