1 WICT Southern California Chapter 4804 Laurel Canyon Blvd. #384, Valley Village, CA Dear Chapter Member: The 2014 Executive Officers and Board of Directors for the Southern California Chapter of Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT) are planning the 2014 Leadership, Education and Advocacy (LEA) Awards: Honoring Excellence. The LEA Awards are considered to be one of the most prestigious awards in the Southern California cable, telecommunications, media or technology industry. This year, the LEA Awards are undergoing an exciting metamorphosis to mirror our industry s constant evolution. Cable, Telecommunications, and Media Executives will be honored in the following categories: RISING LEADER TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION IN MARKETING ADVOCATE CHAMPION INSPIRATIONAL WOMAN OF THE YEAR EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP This year s event will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the beautiful Taglyan Complex located in Hollywood, California. We have simplified the nomination process and invite you to nominate a current member in good standing and/or company who you feel deserves to be recognized. 2 NOMINATION GUIDELINES 2014 LEA Awards: Honoring Excellence The following are guidelines that will be used in selecting the award recipients for the 2014 LEA Awards: An eligible candidate is someone who meets the eligibility requirements as defined below in addition to the selection criteria outlined for each award. 1) Nominees must be currently employed at or provide services to a company in the cable and/or telecommunications, media and technology industry at time of nomination. 2) Nominees must be current Southern California WICT members in good standing. Selection Criteria 2014 LEA Awards: Honoring Excellence RISING LEADER: This award recognizes a passionate industry leader who has made a positive contribution to their organization. The nominee is considered a newcomer and has become accomplished and versed in their job with a proven track record of their strong leadership abilities. Recipient will have been in the industry for 5 years or less OR Changed career paths/business field within the past 3 years (i.e.: 2

3 marketing to operations) and has met the challenge with great leadership Proven examples of success in leadership roles TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION: This award recognizes and celebrates outstanding innovative technology contributions spearheaded by a woman engineer, or woman-led team in the cable, telecommunications, media or technology industry. Recipient(s) or team must work for a programmer, distributor, OTT provider or technology equipment company Technology is being used in the field of cable and/or telecommunications and has demonstrated a measurable benefit Innovation is being used in the cable and/or telecommunications industry and is measurably impactful OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION IN MARKETING: This award recognizes a woman, or a women-led team, who has led a marketing campaign and received impactful results/metrics in the cable, telecommunications, media or technology industry. Note: Company, team or nominees will be able to submit examples of their campaign with the submission application. Successful brand innovator(s) and marketer(s) driving instrumental change in the cable and telecommunications industry Recipient(s) or company will have executed a creative and innovative marketing campaign in 2014 with measurable benefits Individual nominees must hold a management or leadership position within their organization ADVOCATE CHAMPION: This award recognizes an industry man or woman who has demonstrated leadership and has a strong advocacy record for promoting the advancement of women. This individual will be recognized for his/her consistent ability to: Champion women s issues/causes/conditions in the workplace 3

4 Offer and encourage staff mentoring and career path support Be an active participant in WICT and other industry associations Recipient will have been in or provide services to the cable and/or telecommunications industry for at least five years Must hold a management/leadership position within his/her organization INSPIRATIONAL WOMAN OF THE YEAR: This award recognizes an inspirational woman who paves the way for other women by her involvement and commitment to her work and/or community. Recipient will have been in or provided services to the cable and/or telecommunications industry for at least two years Recipient will have been involved with a philanthropic organization and/or organization within her company for a minimum 2 years that gives back to the community Be an active participant in WICT and other industry associations EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP: This award is the highest honor recognizing an accomplished industry woman or man in the areas of Leadership, Education and Advocacy. The recipient will be recognized for his/her professional and personal achievements throughout their career. Fundamental commitment to others through mentorship, career development and advocacy Career pioneer by obtaining position(s) that are traditionally held by men and/or advocating for women s advancement in the workplace Setting the example of superior leadership and professionalism by achieving the support of peers and respect of her subordinates Education through continuing participation and encouragement of staff to support WICT and other industry training opportunities Recipient will have been in the cable, telecommunications, media or technology industry at least ten years Must be senior manager or department head with supervision of management/ supervisory level employee 4
