2 ABOUT The IGA Charity Car Rally is not a race but a leisurely tour of the beautiful Tropical North Queensland region. The rally is a great way to get friends, family or work colleagues together for lots of laughs and fun while supporting the Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland and the vital services it provides to the local community. Start your adventure with a BBQ breakfast at Atherton Supa IGA (Silo Street) and continue on your journey to mystery locations for morning tea and lunch. You ll spend a fun-filled day deciphering a series of questions; participate in physical activities and checkpoints along the way to rugged gulf country Undara Volcanic National Park. Proceeds from the rally will allow the Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland to provide essential support, free of charge, to blood cancer patients and their families including accommodation, transport, counselling and financial assistance. The Foundation also invests more than $1 million each year into life-saving research to help more people survive their blood cancer diagnosis.

3 DESTINATION Undara Lava Tubes Undara Lava Tubes is located 140km or almost three hours drive south of Atherton and is our destination of the 17 th Annual IGA Charity Car Rally. It is located within the Undara Volcanic National Park and part of the Gulf Savannah. Undara Lava Tubes is home to the world s longest lava tube system. The lava tubes and caves were formed when rivers of lava confined to a valley crusted over and formed a roof. Insulated in its casing of solidified lava, the lava flow carried on for tens of kilometres before draining out, leaving an empty tube of lava. Weaker sections of the roof of the tubes later collapsed to form caves and depressions. More than 50 caves have been found in the park. The journey from Atherton to Undara will be an adventure for the senses and spirit. Car Ralliers will experience our rugged country where many locals have not experienced before.

4 PROGRAM SATURDAY 30 APRIL :30am 8:00am 8:30am Sign in at Supa IGA Atherton (Silo Street). All car rally entrants can enjoy a BBQ breakfast. Safety briefing from our Rally Masters. Cars depart in chronological order. During the day there will be a morning tea and lunch stop, served at mystery locations along the journey. 4:00pm Pitt stop at Undara Volcanic National Park and stay overnight at Undara Experience. Please pre-book your accommodation prior to the car rally weekend. Swag tents with shared facilities, railway carriages and camp site accommodation options available for all car rally participants. Please refer to car rally newsletter for rates and contact details. 6:30pm Dinner and presentation night. SUNDAY 1 MAY 2016 From 7:00am Breakfast at the camp kitchen at Undara Experience. 8:00am 8:00am* Depart Undara and head back home at your leisure. 5 REGISTRATION & COMMUNICATION If you d like to support the Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland and take part in the car rally, please complete the registration form at the back of the booklet. Your $300 entry fee covers registration for up to four people in a vehicle, all the car rally activities, two official car rally polo shirts and most meals including breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, morning tea, snacks, lunch, and dinner on Saturday. Additional person is $30. Maximum of five people per team. Accommodation, fuel and the Lava Tube tours are additional. Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland will provide participants with regular updates right through to the starting line in April. These regular updates include newsletters, s and on Facebook. 6 FUNDRAISING Participants are encouraged to fundraise for the Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland Cairns and District Branch Inc. by seeking sponsorship from family, friends, neighbours and anyone in the community willing to support a good cause! To assist with your fundraising, each team will receive raffle tickets as part of the registration kit. You can use the sale of the raffle ticket towards the teams car rally entry fee. Raffle tickets are $2 each and the major prize is a family holiday package to Fitzroy Island valued at $1,360. Package includes two nights accommodation at the Fitzroy Island Resort in an Ocean Suite room including daily breakfast, return family transfers, activities package which includes packed picnic lunch, snorkelling, 30 minute paddle board and inflatable trampoline with Raging Thunder and a $400 voucher to use at one of the three dining outlets on Fitzroy Island Resort choose from the Zephyr Restaurant, The Pool or Foxy s Bars. Car Rally teams are also able to fundraise on their own, from cake stalls to cent sales, we are here to help. The car rally newsletter will have plenty of ideas to assist you get on your way to win fantastic prizes. The Leukaemia Foundation also has marketing materials to assist you in these events which include bunting and donation boxes.

7 PRIZES GRATITUDE PRIZES The Car Rally offers a range of prizes for each team for their fundraising efforts. The teams who raise over the entry fee amount will receive gratitude prizes such as additional polos, fuel and IGA gift cards. Fundraise between $400 $599 Receive an additional 2 car rally polos. Fundraise between $600 $899 Receive the above and a $50 fuel voucher. Fundraise more than $900+ Receive the above and a $100 IGA gift voucher. HIGHEST FUNDRAISING PRIZES The highest three fundraisers will also be awarded a prize. The highest fundraiser will have the team captain s names engraved on the Car Rally perpetual trophy and have the option of hosting it for a year. BEST DRESSED PRIZES There is an award and prize for the team and car that best represents this year s Car Rally theme of Mad Max. OTHER PRIZES Other prizes earned on the day and awarded at the car rally presentation night are neatest answer sheet, mystery millage and of course physical activities awards which we like to refer to as the minute to win it prizes. We have also introduced some awards for our little competitors children s minute to win it and a colour-in competition.
