1 Marketing Support Manager Northern Ireland Science Park (NISP) is seeking proposals from companies and/or individuals for a marketing consultant, to play a central role in NISP s marketing and communications activities. Key Information Minimum 6 day per month with attendance at occasional evening and weekend events Post for up to 12 months extendable for a further 2 periods of 12 months Competitive daily rates depending on experience/qualifications The post will be based at The Innovation Centre, Queen s Island, Belfast with some travel Reporting to Director of Development Closing date for receipt of proposal is 12noon on 29 th February 2016 Background The Northern Ireland Science Park strives to be the centre for innovation in Northern Ireland, and as a catalyst of growth for science, technology and entrepreneurship. The Science Park host over 2,500 tenants from 160 on-site companies based across its campuses in Belfast and Derry. The Northern Ireland Science Park was established by the NI government in Their vision for NISP as a private and sustainable limited but not-for-profit company was to help create vibrant knowledge economy in Northern Ireland as part of a fully balanced total economy leading to: A rebalanced economy less dependent upon public finances; Increasingly based upon knowledge, research and intellectual capital; and Capable of competing globally and hence export driven Vision Our vision is for Northern Ireland to be one of the most innovative and entrepreneurial regions in Europe. A international quality exemplar of a sustainable 21 st Century economy, with the Science Park regarded by all/most expert commentators as a key catalyst in the process of transformation. We are delivering on this vision by: Providing agile, connected physical infrastructure exclusively for Knowledge-based companies managed on a commercial basis. Infrastructure that is close to key elements of research and/or sources of innovation with suitable flexibility for start-ups, scalingup and global corporations. Providing structured support to early stage companies mainly through our NISP CONNECT suite of programmes and our Halo Business Angel network. Also by leveraging our extensive and influential networks. Acting as a catalyst to help create a more entrepreneurial culture in NI by working closely with Academia to provide intense advocacy for the Knowledge Economy, increasing our outreach to young people and participating in initiatives such as Matrix.

2 The Role The role of the Marketing Support Manager is to support the development, co-ordination and implementation of an integrated, long term Communications and Marketing Strategy across the Northern Ireland Science Park Group in line with the Brand Strategy. Objectives 1. To support the delivery of the Communications and Marketing Strategy in line with the company objectives. 2. Ensure all aspects of the Marketing Strategy align and support the growth of the Brand 3. Maintain effective internal communications to ensure that all relevant company functions are kept informed of marketing objectives. Functions 4. Work closely with the Director of Development and Senior Management Team to coordinate stakeholder activities/programmes across diverse NISP sectors/environment (including NISP CONNECT initiatives/activities; Halo, Property & North West, NI Knowledge Economy Index (KEI), where relevant. 5. Planning and directing internal and external communications across all platforms. 6. Management of Media Distribution through the PRNewswire Agility platform. 7. Monitoring and measurement of the effectiveness of PR activities to determine RoI. 8. Working with Digital & Social Media Co-ordinator to co-ordinate relevant digital activities and output, literature/publications, programmes, launches & events. 9. Supporting the Director of Development with management of Media Relations 10. Work with and develop new media resources to brief, develop and deliver relevant marketing campaigns to support new business development. 11. Creation of copy for external communications. 12. Crisis/Reputation Communications. 13. On-going Stakeholder(s) communication and liaison.

3 Person Specification Areas to be assessed Qualifications Essential Educated to degree level or equivalent 10 years experience Desirable Relevant degree Marketing, journalism, PR or media studies. Professional qualifications in multi-media, marketing, public relations or communications Experience/ knowledge Skills/qualities Special requirements A good portfolio of work should be prepared to demonstrate abilities to employer. Experience of overseeing campaigns through the production stage to completion and monitoring effectiveness of campaigns. Experience of digital marketing and communications Experience of working with and/or managing a PR agency An excellent network of media contacts Excellent copywriting and editorial skills - content writing and editing skills. Excellent self-motivation Strong Commercial acumen Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines Excellent attention to detail to deliver work of a high quality standard Good team working skills Administrative and organisational skills IT proficiency Creativity, and ability to produce innovative and original ideas. Strong relationship building and collaboration skills Adept at managing stakeholders at all levels of an organisation Confident communicator at all levels of the organisation Proof of right to work in the UK On occasions to work evenings and weekends for events Experience of working within a similar role Familiarity with the science, technology and entrepreneurial business sectors Familiarity of popular culture and industry trends and standards.

4 INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION OF QUOTATIONS 1. Evaluation Criteria The evaluation criteria that will be used in the award of this contract are: - 1. Previous relevant experience of personnel who will be involved in delivering the assignment and how applicants meet the required qualifications, experience/knowledge, skills/qualities and special requirements; 2. Proposal for service delivery, understanding of requirements & methodology and 3. Total cost 2. Format of Response Details must be provided of consultant/s who will be assigned to carry out the assignments to include: - i. Consultant s Name and Grade; ii. How you meet the qualifications, experience/knowledge, skill/qualities and special requirements as detailed above iii. Relevant Experience: (Relevant CV experience of each Consultant should be attached on no more than one A4 sheet. Rather than providing exhaustive lists of previous experience, consultants are asked to give details of four recent examples and should give their reasons why they believe the experience is relevant to this particular exercise.) iv. Details should also be provided of the proposal for service delivery, understanding of requirements & methodology and total cost The proposal should not be more than eight A4 pages in total. 3. Award of Contract The contract will be awarded to the quotation that meets the timescale identified and offers best value for money in respect of the evaluation criteria listed above. 4.
