2 DBS / ISA Registration: Enhanced DBS Required Job Summary and Purpose: The majority of your role will involve supporting the Children s and Youth Ministries. Key Activities and Tasks to be performed: 1. Assist in the development of spiritual nurture and discipleship of young people. 2. Assist in the planning and the leading of the following Sunday activities: Pathfinders (11-15 youth group) RE Church (Youth service for years olds) 3. Assist in the planning and running of the following activities for children and youth: Friday Night Club (7-11 yr olds) Friday Night Xtreme youth club (11-16 year olds) Youth social events 4. Assist in the planning and leading of youth residentials (or equivalent): Soul Survivor (August) Youth weekend away 5. Assist with the day to day running of Bethany Babes a family outreach for parents with young children. 6. Assist with Messy Church when the opportunity arises. 7. Assist with children s cell groups in local Primary School. 8. Work alongside youth workers in the local Secondary Schools and Colleges 9. Involvement in wider church life: 10. Attendance at daily prayers on working days and monthly church prayer meeting 11. Participate in church life 12. Assist organising the Hope Weekend outreach in May 13. Serve in wider areas across the church when needed.

3 Additional responsibilities: 1. Adhere to all the organisation s policies and procedures. 2. Comply with the data protection regulations, ensuring that information on clients remains confidential. 3. Be responsible for personal learning and development, under the supervision of the Youth Minister. 4. Work in a manner that facilitates inclusion of children and young people from all different socio-economic backgrounds. 5. Provide input which acknowledges a persons right to make decisions for themselves, which is non-judgmental and supports the individual to achieve their goals. 6. Be consistent and dependable when working with staff and volunteers from other areas of ministry. 7. Work within St Mary of Bethany s Health and Safety policy and procedures, Child Protection policy and Lone Working policy, ensuring that all practices and procedures are undertaken in accordance with a healthy and safe working environment. To ensure that all staff and volunteers for whom you may be responsible are aware of their responsibilities in respect of their role, monitoring data and recommending action as required. Time Commitment: It is expected that the is available for work five and a half days per week including some evening work, and some of which will be on Sunday. The applicant will be encouraged to have some non-contact time for administration and catching up within these hours. The Intern will have responsibility to ensure that a sensible working pattern is followed, and this will be covered in supervision. This post has four weeks annual leave (pro-rated based on 39 hours full time equivalence) plus Bank holidays when you are not working, and five days (pro-rated) in lieu of Christmas and five days (pro rated) in lieu of Easter. Accountability Structure: The will be accountable to the Youth Minister or fellow member of the team, and the church wardens in his absence. The person will contact the church wardens in case of grievance or emergency. There is also recognised and informal mutual accountability within the staff team, and, where possible, we meet daily for prayers and to catch up with each other in the community of the team.

4 Capability Requirements: Faith Must have a living faith that is growing, and be willing to be a disciple. Must be willing to share their faith and be willing to talk about how Jesus has transformed them. Willing to pray and be vulnerable with people. Knowledge & Skills Good Biblical knowledge Willing to serve Willing to grow in faith Willing to grow in leadership Competent user of social networking media Other Reliable, consistent, dependable and have an ability to handle a level of stress. Person Profile: We require the successful applicant to be an ambassador for Christ: through word and example, to lead others towards the Kingdom of God, and not away from the Kingdom of God. We require them to use a Christian understanding of The Bible as the primary basis for teaching on Christian salvation, faith, transformation, values and lifestyle. We require that you have a servant heart and that you display this attitude as you serve the church and the community.

5 Genuine Occupational Requirements (GOR): Regulations 7(2)a and / or 7(2)b of the Employment Equality (Religion or Belief) Regulations 2003 apply for this post. As this is a ministry post, and also represents the church to the public (e.g. in schools), a Genuine Occupational Requirement (GOR) for a Christian applies to this role. Supervision requirements: It is expected that the will attend supervision with the Youth Minister once a fortnight, unless by mutual agreement. Codes of Practice that apply: It is expected that the Intern will fully comply with our child protection, health and safety, and risk assessment procedures. This voluntary post requires access to personal information, for record keeping, attendance, and communication with parents of young people. Data protection policies apply as normal. Training and certification requirements: Health and safety training will be given as a part of the induction, and any other training needs will be assessed on the commencement of the voluntary post.
