1 Fact Sheet for Parents/ Guardian of the Swimmers Before the swim meet, parents are to find out the name of the teacher-in-charge for the event your child is participating in. (If possible parents are to get the mobile number of the teacher-in-charge) Arrange a meeting time and the meeting venue for the teacher-in-charge to take attendance. On the day of the event, what time should my child get ready and report for the event at the Call Room? Refer to the Session Startlist with the estimated event schedule. All competitors are to be ready at least half an hour before their scheduled events. They are to report to the Clerks of Course in the Competitors Reporting Area IMMEDIATELY when called upon to do so by means of Event Display Boards or announcement. Latecomers will not be permitted to swim the event when the competitors for the event have been dispatched to the starting point. PS: Participants should find out from the teacher-in-charge the time to report at Singapore Sports School for attendance taking. 2. Where can I check the Swim Results/Startlists? You can view the hardcopy posted on the wall behind the Information Booth. For your mobile convenience, you can view the Results after each event on your iphone/ipad (Meet Mobile apps from Apple Store) or Android Smartphone (Meet Mobile from Google Play Store). Startlists and Results can be also be downloaded from Note: No programme booklet will be distributed on the day of the Finals. 3. What do I do during an haze / emergency evacuation? Announcement will be made if the event is cancelled or postponed. Pupils are required to report to their teachers-incharge who will conduct a roll call. In a fire evacuation, you are to note the announcement made and assemble at the designated assembly area. In a haze evacuation, Teacher ICs would guide the pupils to the dining hall. Parent present Inform Teacher IC to bring your child home. Parent not present Teacher IC would contact you to make transport arrangement to bring your child home. 4. How do I lodge a Protest? Only teachers-in-charge can approach the meet officials to seek clarification and lodge a protest. Do note that a fee of $150 will be imposed it the decision is upheld. 1

2 5. How do I withdraw my child from an event? Eg. If my child is unwell or Eg. For some valid reasons, my child cannot participate. 6. Where and when can my child do their warm-up and what are some safety considerations to take note of? NATIONAL PRIMARY SCHOOLS Withdrawals will only be allowed for valid reasons, and only if it is accompanied by endorsement from the Teacher in-charge. This should be followed by a written explanation duly endorsed by the Principal to the National Convenor and Game Advisor within two working days. If the competitor is ill, a Medical Certificate needs to be submitted to the teacher-in-charge before the next event. Any competitor who withdraws without a valid reason will not be allowed to participate in subsequent events including relay races. You are to supervise your child and ensure safety at the complex throughout the competition. Refer to and brief all participants on Instructions on Warm-Ups at i) Competition Pool ii) Warm-Up Pool (Training Pool Area, 4 lanes only) Warming-up in the Competition Pool may commence one hour before the start of the session (0745hrs 0845hrs, 1245hrs 1345hr) and end 15 minutes before the start of the session. For the training pool area (4 lanes only), the warm up lanes will be available from 0745hrs 1200hrs, 1245hrs hrs for warm ups. 7. Is there an area allotted for my child - to rest while waiting for their event? 8. Is there a guideline to follow for the swimwear? For hygiene reasons, remind your pupils to shower before entering the pool. Swimmers are encouraged to use the grandstands to rest whilst waiting for their event. Swimmers and supporters are advised not to crowd along the common walkways, doorways and cause obstruction. No one is allowed to enter the 3 rd, 4 th and 5 th level of the academic block. NOTE: You are to ensure the cleanliness of the school before vacating the area you have occupied. The Championships will be conducted in accordance to FINA s By Laws on Swimwear: BL 8.2: In swimming competitions, the competitor must wear only one swimsuit in one or two pieces. No additional items, like arm bands or leg bands shall be regarded as part of a swimsuit. BL 8.3: Since January 1, 2010 swimwear for men shall not extend above the navel nor below the knee, and for women, shall not cover the neck, extend past the shoulder, nor extend below the knee. 3 9. Does my child need to stay till the end of award presentation ceremony? 10. Where can I park my vehicle during the period of competition? Please read carefully the notification from LTA. On the day of the finals, in the spirit of sportsmanship, swimmers and supporters are strongly encouraged to stay on till the end of the award presentation ceremony. You are strongly encouraged to take public transport, carpool or travel with the pupils in the school bus as there is limited parking. LTA has been informed of the event and permission has been given to park at the following spaces: only on one side of Champions Way in the direction of Woodlands Drive 17 between lamp-post no. 12 and no.15, and between lamp-post no.18 and no.21; and one side of Woodlands Drive 17 towards Woodlands Avenue 1 between lamp-post no.14 and no.19. Vehicles should be parked as close to the edge of the road as possible so that no obstruction is posed to the traffic. Traffic marshals are deployed to coordinate the traffic passing through the temporary parking location to ensure traffic flow remains smooth and are not unnecessarily hindered or obstructed. It is an offence to park illegally along public roads and spaces beyond the approved roads. If you do so, you will be issued a parking notice. Otherwise parking is available at the following carparks within walking distance from Singapore Sports School: Multi Storey Carpark at Blk 570 Champions Court Carpark near Blk 540 and 538 Woodlands Ave 1 ravel_site_122982/ Summon action against any vehicles found parking indiscriminately, contravening any of the above conditions and/or 3

4 parking outside the stated location, date and timing. Any non-compliance may result in this request be rescinded without prior notice. 11. What are the functions of the Information? 12. With the increasing haze level, will the Championship continue? The Information Booth is setup for providing General Information. The Organizer will be monitoring the haze level and will make an announcement at the pool to activate the haze evacuation if needed. 5 Instructions on Warm-Ups NATIONAL PRIMARY SCHOOLS Warming-up in the Competition Pool may commence from 7.45am to 8.45 am. The warm up procedures in the competition pool are as follows: i) Competition Pool a. The schematic in the diagram shall be observed at all times during warm-ups. b. There shall be NO DIVING in the Circle Swimming Lanes, the Turn Practice Lanes, and the 50m Pace Lane (opposite side). Entry to these lanes is via feet first entry from the sitting position at all times. c. The use of swim paddles is prohibited during warm-up. d. The Dive Sprint Lanes are one-way only swimmers should clear the lanes immediately and walk back. Swimmers are advised to exercise caution when doing Backstroke starts e. Coaches and Team Officials will be allowed on the Competition Pool Deck during the warm-up sessions. f. No one is allowed on the pool deck from the start of the competition until the end except Technical Officials on duty. g. Any sideline coaching or pacing may lead to the disqualification of the particular competitor(s). According to FINA Rule No pace making shall be permitted, nor may any device be used or plan adopted which has that effect. ii) Warm-Up Pool (Training Pool Area, 4 Lanes only) 5

6 The use of the Training Pool may commence from 7.45am to 5.00 pm. The warm up procedures at the warm-up pool are as follows: a.
