4 Instructions to the Candidates to apply for issue of Eligibility for admission to M.Sc.(Nursing) degree course..1. All the candidates, irrespective of the Universities, who are seeking admission in M.Sc. (N) degree course in The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai shall obtain an Eligibility from this University. 2. Candidate has to submit duly filled in Eligibility Application Form downloaded from the Website of The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University ( & either in person or by post. 3. Candidate has to remit a sum of Rs.1,400/- towards the cost of application and Eligibility Fee. The amount should be paid through online RTGS or the IOB challan to be paid at The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University premises. The date of payment should not be earlier than one month from the date of application. 4. The amount once remitted by the candidate to the University will not be refunded at any cost. 5. Candidates should apply for Eligibility s before admission in the college. Eligibility will not be issued after admission to the course. Candidates seeking Eligibility must fill up the application form in his/her own handwriting and sign in the application without fail. Others should not sign in the application form. If others signed in the application form, the same will be summarily rejected. Only one eligibility certificate will be issued to a candidate or an authorized person. 6. Candidate has to furnish the following documents in original and one set of Xerox copies a) Qualifying Examination Degree / Provisional. b) Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council Registration c) Migration (Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination other than The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, University of Madras, Bharathiar University, Bharathidasan University and Madurai Kamaraj University.) d) One year experience certificate after Basic B.Sc.(N) from the date of registration of State Nursing Council. e) One year experience certificate prior or after Post Basic B.Sc.(N) from the date of registration of State Nursing Council. f) Statement of marks of B.Sc.(N) & Post Basic B.Sc.(N) g) Transfer. The originals will be returned along with the Eligibility retaining the xerox copies. 7. The University will issue the Eligibility from 1 st January of every year. 8. The last date for applying for the Eligibility certificate for M.Sc (Nursing) degree course is 31st May of every year. If 31 st May falls on a holiday, the candidate has to apply for the eligibility certificate on the next working day. 9. Application for the issue of Eligibility will not be entertained after the prescribed cut-off-date for admission to the PG degree courses during the academic year. 10. Institutions / Agents / Mediators are not allowed to apply for the eligibility certificate on behalf of the candidate. 11. The medium of instruction should be in English.

5 12. The duration of certified study of the M.Sc.(N) degree course shall extend over a period of 2(two) academic years. Eligibility Criteria The candidates should have (1) Passed the qualification of B.Sc.(Nursing) degree of this University or any other University accepted as equivalent there to. (2) Should have registered with the State Registration Council of Nursing and Midwifery. (3) B.Sc.(Nursing) graduates should have one year of experience in teaching hospital or in a College or in School of Nursing or in Community Health Programme after registration in State Nursing Council. (4) Minimum one year of work experience prior or after Post Basic B.Sc.(Nursing) (5) B.Sc.(Nursing) & Post Basic B.Sc.(Nursing) with minimum of 55% aggregate marks. 5% relaxation of marks for SC/ ST candidate. (6) In case of male candidates they should have passed any other course recommended by the Indian Nursing Council in place of Midwifery. Those who have studied Midwifery are eligible for admission to Branch III and IV. (7) Every candidate before admission to this course shall submit to the Principal of the institution a certificate of Medical Fitness from an authorized Medical Officer that the candidate is physically fit to undergo the Academic Programme.
