1 Lectura Para Niños ~ fonéticas en español Leah Meiser Item # #001 #002 #003 Spanish Language Kindergarten Teacher 3005ª S 79th Avenue Yakima, WA Cell Centro fonéticos: Tarjetas de Sonidos Iniciales A-Z (30 pages - color) (Phonics Centers: Initial Sound Picture Cards A-Z) The teacher chooses the picture pages for the letter of the week she is working with. The teacher then uses a pocket chart in the front of the class to help the students with beginning sound discrimination. To reinforce this skill, there is also a parent component for this at home where the parent can play the same game with black and white copies for the student. The teacher can begin with 2 picture pages and ask the student, which picture begins with sound. As the student increases in their ability to discriminate beginning sounds, the teacher can practice with more initial sound picture cards. Centro fonéticos: Tarjetas de sonidos y silabas iniciales de la semana. (Phonics Center: A-Z Initial Letter/Syllable of the Week) (30 pages - color) Contains 30 pages of letter/syllable picture cards. Cut and store in envelopes writing the letter name on the outside of each envelope. This is similar to the Initial Sound Picture Card Phonics Center, but is intended for use with your document camera or for small group instruction. The teacher chooses the picture pages for the letter/syllable of the week she is working with. The teacher then uses the document camera or a mini pocket chart for their small group to help the students with beginning sound/syllable discrimination. The teacher can use this game for beginning sound discrimination or beginning syllables. Every consonant page will have two picture cards that will begin with each initial syllable of the week; for example ma: mamá, mariposa me: mesa, melón mi: micrófono, mitón mo: mono, mosca mu: muñeca, muletas Listening: Teacher practices saying specific words from the phonics center, student says beginning sound or syllable. Manipulating sounds: Teacher says a word from the phonics center; student matches the picture to beginning letter sound. Practice with one to three letters to distinguish letter/sound correspondence. Manipulating Syllables: Teacher says a word from the phonics center, student matches picture card to the beginning syllable. Each letter has two picture cards to match each beginning syllable Centro fonéticos: Haciendo palabras nivel básico. (43 pages - color) (Phonics Centers: Making words - Beginning Level) 4-6 sound words Contains 43 pages of sequentially taught word/picture cards. In themes 2-10, each theme teaches 2-3 new letters making 4-6 sound words beginning with two syllable words progressing to three syllable words. In theme 1, you have an overview of the letters and beginning syllables. In theme 2-10, the students will focus on blending and segmenting words into sounds and syllables both auditorily and visually. o Theme 2, (Reviews: A, E, I, O, U) focuses on words with new consonants M, S, P o Theme 3, (Reviews: A, E, I, O, U, M, S, P) focuses on words with new consonants T, C, N o Each theme 2-10 teaches 2-3 new letters, while reviewing letters from previous themes. For each word, the syllables are color coded for students learning to divide syllables. The words chosen come from my core reading curriculum and words that my students have come up with that correlate with each letter sound. We focus on one letter per week while we practice segmenting and blending them into syllables and individual sounds. I have one word wall on my wall that always stays up and the students use it all year long. I also have 5 copies of the word wall/dictionary in binders so the students can use them as dictionaries and copy words for the letter of the week on their papers, then underlining the syllables of each syllable. 3 #006 #007 #008 #009 #010 Tarea: Segmentación por sílabas y sonidos (66 pages: black & White) Homework Letters for parents: Segmenting Words into Syllables & Sounds 1-Pre-Kinder 2-Kinder Many parents ask me how they can help their student at home. I created these books for the parent to work with their student daily. Even if a parent can t read, he/she can help increase their student s vocabulary by telling their student the name of the picture. They can then help the vocabulary of their student as well. They can assist in segmenting the words into syllables and or sounds depending on the level of their student. The parent will point to the pictures that begin with the initial sound you are working with. Then, reinforce segmenting the words into syllables. The syllables are reinforced with spaces between each syllable. We teach our students to touch their head, shoulders, hips, knees and toes for each additional syllable. We tell our parents, this homework is not for the student to read, but to play a listening game with the parent. This book reinforces what we teach in the classroom in the home. For the advanced student, we tell the parent to practice segmenting the words into sounds as well using each finger for each individual sound. Tarea: Tarjetas de Sonidos Iniciales A-Z (28 pages: black & White) Homework Phonics Centers: Initial Sound Picture Cards: (Black & White) The teacher can copy off the picture pages for the letter of the week she is working with for the parent to practice beginning sound discrimination at home. The parent can begin with 2 picture pages and ask the student, which picture begins with sound. As the student increases in their ability to discriminate beginning sounds, you can send home 3-4 pages to make the game a little more challenging for the student. This homework book matches the Initial Sound Picture Card game from the Phonics Centers. The teacher s addition is in color. Tarea: Caligrafía A-Z (82 pages: black & White) Homework Book: A-Z Penmanship There are 3 books included. This book helps the student with fine motor practice and directionality when writing letters. 1- Letra de la semana (Pre-kinder): Letter of the week Pre-Kinder Larger font, not as many letters to trace. 2- Letra de la semana (Kinder): Letter of the week Kinder Same as above, but smaller font with more letters to practice tracing. 3- Sílaba de la semana: Syllable of the week - Kinder Smaller font, students practice writing the syllables of the week Tarea: Sonidos iniciales (104 pages) Homework Book: Initial Sounds 1-Color pictures that match Initial Sound Beginning This book is a little more controlled in that you only color 1-2 pictures that begin the same as the initial picture. 2-Color pictures that match Initial Sound Advanced The student will color all the pictures that begin with the letter at the top of the page. There will always be 4 pictures that should not be colored. Tarea: Repaso de los Sonidos iniciales (42 pages) Homework Book: Initial Sounds REVIEW The student writes the beginning sound below each picture and then circles the picture that has the same beginning sound. Page 3

4 #011 #012 #013 #014 #015 Tarea: Sílabas Iniciales (104 pages) Homework Book: Initial Syllables The student writes in the initial syllable that begins with the picture. Tarea: Sílabas Mediales y Finales (39 pages) Homework Book: Middle & Ending Syllables The student writes in the missing middle or ending syllable in the word. Tarea: Centro fonéticos: Haciendo palabras nivel básico (42 pages) Homework Book: Matches Phonics Center Beginning Level This homework book has 3 parts. In each mini book, there are 1-2 pages of homework for each theme you are working with. If you are working in Theme 2, you will be working with words containing the letters m, p, s and the vowels. After working for at least a week with in any theme, you can send home pages from each of the following pages. 1-Leyendo Palabras: Whole word reading (14 pages) The student reads the words in the box above and writes the word below the corresponding picture. 2-Busca Palabras: Word Searches (14 pages) Find the hidden words from each theme. 3-Escribe palabras correctamente: Unscramble the words (14 pages) Unscramble the words from each theme. Tarea: Centro fonéticos: Haciendo palabras nivel avanzado (81 pages) Homework Book: Matches Phonics Center Advanced Level This homework book has 3 parts. In each mini book, there are 1-2 pages of homework for each reading concept you are working with. If your student is struggling with closed syllables, I would practice first with the phonics center advanced, with closed syllables, and pull the practice pages from the following mini books. 1-Leyendo Palabras: Whole word reading (32 pages) The student reads the words in the box above and writes the word below the corresponding picture. 2-Busca Palabras: Word Searches (14 pages) Find the hidden words from each theme. 3-Escribe palabras correctamente: Unscramble the words (32 pages) Unscramble the words from each theme.
