2 Welcome From my first visit to Istanbul I fell in love with Turkey. Now I return as often as I can and in 2014 I spent my private holiday in Turkey. And let me tell you, it was one of the best trips I have ever done. Of course I have to admit that when comes to weather, crystal clear blue waters, food and historical sites not many places can compete with Turkey. Turkey has it all and the only difficult part is that you have to make decisions on which places to see and which not to see as there is to many places to choose from. This time I spent most of my time in the southern part of Turkey and even made a day trip to Kas, a wonderful Greek island of Kastelorizo. My friends from New Zealand who joined us for this trip had never done a private tour before. They were amazed how affordable it was, but also how convenient it was to travel in the private minivan, stop at any time, swim when we felt like swimming and eat at the local restaurant that only a Turkish guide would know, and for a fraction of the price that a tourist would normally pay. We hopped on and off our air conditioned minivan and between the stops I could catch up on office work and communicate with friends on social media using the free WiFi. Our guide was fantastic, he also escorts many of our regular tours and was in love with Australians and New Zealanders. The brochure has been divided into sections showing a variety of options available to both first time as well as repeat travellers to this amazing country. Due to space limitations we are unable to present in this brochure the complete selection of tours, hotels packages and/or activities that we offer. Should you wish to arrange golf in Turkey, an independent stay at a cave hotel in Cappadocia, an historical tour of the region or any other special request, please contact us. We offer the following options: Regular Coach Tours (Page 30 to 51) Large selection of coach tours that operate on a regular basis and individuals can select and book any of the regular departures. These are a cost effective, comfortable way of exploring the whole or part of Turkey in an air conditioned bus with an English speaking Guide only. Some tours offer a selection of accommodation options. All Regular coach tours are guaranteed departures with minimum 2 people. Small Group Tours (Page 23 to 29) Following demands, we ve added more small group tours which run with a maximum 14 to 22 people and provide a more intimate experience. Small group tours are English speaking only and are guaranteed to operate with two passengers. Private Tours (Page 52 to 58) In this brochure, we have presented a few samples only, due to space limitation. Visiting Turkey as part of a private tour is more comprehensive and provides endless option as well as highest level of comfort. Private tours can be modified for any duration, standard of accommodation and can cater for individual clients as well as small or large groups who required a specific itinerary. Car Rental Packages (Page 62 to 63) These packages are great for travellers who like their independence and are comfortable to drive by themselves in a foreign country. We present the most popular options in the brochure but can modify any of the packages to suit individual needs. We can also modify the hotels and duration (which are included in the programs). Gulet Cruises (Page 59 to 61) A relaxing yacht holiday typical in the south of Turkey s Mediterranean coast where accommodation is provided in basic cabins with a local crew. We offer regular departures as well as private charter. Location, Location, Location Be aware that hotels that advertise a lot online may not offer better products or services than the hotels we offer. They just probably spend more money on online advertising! It is also important to remember that people who write comments online about hotels do not have the same needs or expectations as you may have and may come from different countries, hence may be looking for different experiences. Please note that some locations may attract business travellers, some nightlife seekers and some those who seek authentic experiences. Internet searches usually return hundreds of options in each location. The huge volume of hotels on offer can be quite daunting, and it becomes a challenge to find the right hotel for your needs and at the right price. Australian clients may find that hotel categories in Turkey are not equivalent to the ones in Australia. An official 4 star hotel in Turkey may be only 2 or 3 star in their view. Climate The Mediterranean and Aegean shores of Turkey experience long, hot summers and mild, rainy winters. Istanbul s average January temperature is 5 C and the average in July is 23 C. The central Anatolian Plateau has a continental climate with hot summers and colder winters than those along the shore. As such there are many unique and wonderful places to visit including the Blue Mosque, supremely elegant imperial six minaret mosque of Sultanahmet I, known because of the magnificent blue tiles. Hagia Sophia, built by Constantine and widely considered to be an architectural marvel. Topkapi Palace which was the official residence of the Sultans for more than 400 years. Perhaps take a morning tour of the archaeological sight of Troy, home to the Trojan Horse and the legendary story of Achilles as told by Homer. Seven Churches of the Apocalypse: Mentioned by St. John in the Book of Revelations, these seven churches are all found in Turkey including Efes (), Izmir (Smyrna), Bergama (), Akhisar (Thyatira), Sart (Sardis), Alasehir (Philadelphia) and Eskihisar (Laodicea). Kusadasi: See the ancient site of, one of Ancient Rome s greatest cities in the Western world along with its famous Library of Celsus and the House of Virgin Mary. See the city where the Gospel of John is rumoured to have been written. It is also the location where the enormous temple of Artemis, once considered a Wonder of the Ancient World, stood. Pamukkale: The spectacular hot springs in Pamukkale, also known as the White Castle due to the lime deposits are a must visit. Discover the ruins of spa city of Hierapolis built on top of the white castle. Cappadocia: Explore the magical landscape of Cappadocia, with its fairy chimneys and its underground cities. Enjoy a awe-inspiring balloon ride over the remarkable landscape. Kars Akdamar Island Mt Ararat Doğubeyazıt Van Antalya: See Hadrian s Gates, built into the city walls after Emperor Hadrian s visit in 130AD. The areas surrounding Antalya hold some fabulous beaches and historic sites. The ancient city of Demre, once inhabited in 500BC shows many carved rock tombs peeping out from the rock face and overlooking the magnificent Roman Theatre. Many day trips can be taken to the East of Antalya including Perge, once inhabited by Hittites in approx. 1500BC providing an almost complete picture of the past. Aspendos is known for the best preserved theatre in antiquity, still used today. Coastal Cities: Discover the picturesque coastal towns of Fethiye, Marmaris and Bodrum. Visit Istanbul and experience it all for yourself. Istanbul Airports There are 2 airports in Istanbul: The Ataturk International Airport is 18 kilometres from the town. Transfer takes minutes by car to Old Town and minutes to New Town. Both domestic and international terminals are located at Ataturk airport and are within walking distance of each other. The Saw Airport services mostly the low cost airlines. Saw Airport is located 50 kilometres from town and transfers take approximately minutes to Old Town and minutes to New Town. Istanbul port is located in Karakoy area approximately five kilometres from Old town. Transfers take minutes by car to Old Town and minutes to New Town. Istanbul Hotels Please note that the hotels that come first on search engines are not necessarily the best located and most suitable for you. They are usually just the ones who spend the most on advertising. Hotel searches return between 800 to 1400 hotels in Istanbul, which can often be quite daunting. It becomes a challenge to find the right hotel for your needs at the fair price. Old Town vs New Town Istanbul is a city of almost 20 million people, which offers great diversity. It is good to note that some location may attract business travellers, some nightlife seekers and others who seek a more authentic experience. Most Australian travellers who visit Istanbul for the first time or for a short stay prefer to stay in the old part of town, commonly referred to as Old City. This area offer local flavour with most hotels located within walking distance to such attractions as Blue Mosque, St Sophia, Topkapi and Bazar. There is also a large selection of local restaurants to choose from and a convenient tram service. There is also a larger selection of hotels in the New City with most international chain hotels are located there. For those that would like to explore the city at night, the Beyoglu area known for its arts and entertainment is Istanbul's nightlife hub. Located on the European side it boasts a growing number of cool venues. Check out hip café Leyla, for cocktails or cappuccinos, and around the cobbled corner try to catch live Balkan music at Badehane bar. During the day drop in to Istanbul Modern gallery located near Karaköy Port, which frequently hosts the exhibitions of renowned Turkish and foreign artists or to the Pera Museum with works from the late Ottoman period.
