2 COMING TOGETHER TO CURB THE SPREAD OF HIV/AIDS & ASSIST THOSE IMPACTED Care Resource is proud to present the 28th Annual AIDS Walk Miami 5K walk-a-thon fundraiser on Sunday, April 24, 2016 in Miami Beach. Funds raised from the Walk benefit Care Resource and Food for Life food bank for Miami-Dade and Broward Counties diverse communities in need. HIV care and treatment is becoming increasingly effective but new HIV infection rates in Miami-Dade and Broward counties still rank the highest in the nation. AIDS Walk Miami is one of the oldest and largest AIDS walks in the country. Recently, this annual fundraiser helped make it possible for Care Resource to: Serve over 79,850 client encounters with over 17,224 medical visits to 5,426 patients. Perform over 13,895 HIV and STD screenings. Deliver over 25,150 meals to home-bound clients. Extend dental services to over 1,307 clients through 4,837 dental visits. The Walk begins and ends outside the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens. Registration begins at 8:00am. The walk begins promptly at 9:00am. 3 About care resource Our Mission Through education, prevention, research, care and treatment and support services, Care Resource improves upon the health and overall quality of life of our diverse South Florida communities in need. Care Resource is a 501c3 non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that provides comprehensive primary medical and preventative care, including health, oral and mental health and substance abuse services, with demonstrated excellence in the multicultural field of HIV/AIDS and works to fulfill its mission and have a positive impact for the residents of Miami-Dade and Broward counties. Care Resource provides it s services to all persons regardless of their ability to pay and charges for services on a community board approved sliding fee scales based on patient s family income and size. Food for Life, Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides and delivers groceries, meals and nutritional education to eliminate malnutrition and starvation in men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS in Miami Dade County since Together, clients have access to one-stop location for primary medical care, information and referrals, case management, dental health, mental health, substance abuse counseing, food bank and nutrition programs, pediatrics, transportation and HIV/STD testing. Combined with the agency s many health promotion and education programs, Care Resource is in the community daily and engages populations at high risk.
