Deadline has been extended to October 30, Special Issue on: "Cloud Computing" Guest Editors: Dr. Hamid Mcheick, University of Quebec at Chicoutimi, Quebec, Canada Dr. Mehdi Adda, University of Quebec at Rimouski, Canada The missions of IJCNDS are to improve the state-of-the-art of worldwide research in the areas of communication networks and distributed systems by publishing high-quality articles in this area, and by exposing the readers to various methodologies, tools, techniques, algorithms, results, and types of articles. This special issue of IJCNDS is intended to publish research contributions that significantly advance the state-of-the-art research in Cloud Computing (CC) and related technologies. CC has changed many things: requirements, architecture, information and communication, implementation and evolution methodologies for software. It has challenged our ideas as software researchers and practitioners in ways the community still scrambling to find out. We have to rethink Software Engineering foundations in light of the cloud. We welcome papers that are theoretical, conceptual, and descriptive in nature of the state-of-the-art, and advanced ideas of this area. High-quality papers on reporting the practical applications of different theoretical approaches also will be of particular interest to this special issue of IJCNDS journal. Subject Coverage Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following: Cloud architectures Interoperability, reliability and high availability on the cloud Cloud computing fault tolerance and consistency Cloud computing scalability Virtualization technologies Attribute-Driven Design (ADD) Middleware Frameworks Mobile cloud and wireless sensor network Distributed computing on the cloud Concurrent programming models for cloud computing

2 Collaborative Computing Service oriented computing Services decomposition and composition Infrastructure-as-a Service (IaaS) Software-as-a Service (SaaS) Platform-as-a Service (PaaS) Cloud security, privacy and trust models Access control in cloud computing systems Agile software development and deployment on the cloud Separation of concerns and services on the cloud Requirements engineering and Early aspects Cloud computing maintenance and management High-performance computing on the cloud Notes for Prospective Authors Submitted papers should not have been previously published nor be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. (N.B. Conference papers may only be submitted if the paper was not originally copyrighted and if it has been completely re-written). Papers should be submitted in MS-Word format to Dr. Hamid Mcheick at: (with special issue IJCNDS- CloudComputing). Copyright agreement for each author (in different copies) will be done later on after the first evaluation. Each contribution should contain a problem statement, an overview of related work in the area, a presentation of the contribution to the research domain addressed by this specific topic (see topics of interest), a description of the methodological approach, and results achieved. All papers are refereed through a double-blind review process. A guide for authors, sample copies and other relevant information for submitting papers are available on the Author Guidelines page Important Dates Paper Submission Deadline: October 30, 2011 Notification of acceptance: December 30, 2011 Submission of final revised paper: February 15, 2012 Editors and Notes Please ensure that the version of each paper includes: Title of paper Names of author(s) and complete addresses with address of each author indicating the corresponding author Keywords: Metadata (title/author details/abstract/keywords) is a vital part of any paper, since, in our online world, it is the metadata which is freely available to all

3 users and which is sent to many and varied online sources, from which users undertaking online searches will trace the paper. Thus, the keywords should contain ALL the essential words/terms from the title and abstract and be in an optimum format, which is ideally of 1-3 words; if more than 1 word, the words should be a phrase, not a description. Biographical notes of no more than 100 words for each author. An Abstract of no more than 150 words preferably without any symbols or equations. References (using the Harvard short reference system). Figures: If any figures appear in colour, please note that they will only appear in colour in the online version but in the printed version they will be in black and white. If the quality of the colour figure supplied is not suitable to be produced in colour, it will only be shown in black and white in the online version. However, if colour is essential to the figure please send a good quality colour image.
