1 502 S 2nd Street P.O. Box 158 Cordele, GA Tel: (229) Fax: (229) Keep Crisp Beautiful is a non-profit organization of the Cordele-Crisp Chamber of Commerce and is comprised of volunteers, dedicated to working in our community to provide education about environmental issues, to attract business and tourism, and to improve the health of our community. The duties of Keep Crisp Beautiful: Promote public interest in the general improvement of the environment. Study, investigate and develops plans for improving the health, sanitation, safety and cleanliness of the City of Cordele and Crisp County Advise and recommend plans for a cleaner community. Initiate, plan, direct, coordinate and execute programs that include litter control and recycling in conjunction with the citizens, governments, businesses and industries within the City of Cordele and Crisp County. 2 Keep Crisp Beautiful Board Bodrey, Kari South Georgia Technical College Colson, Willie Fore, Marty Crisp-Dooly Forestry Griffin, Niki Cordele Garden Club Harrell, Catherine Keep Crisp Beautiful Helms, Todd Woodard s Nursery Mitchell, Monica Downtown Business Organization McGirt, Brandon City of Cordele Simmons, Monica Cordele-Crisp Chamber of Commerce Waters, Marcus Crisp County Power Commission Wells, Chip Wells Hardware Programs of Keep Crisp Beautiful Adopt-A-Spot/ Adopt-A-Highway Program Adopt-A-Highway/ Adopt-A-Spot Programs enlists citizen volunteers' help to remove litter from state roadsides while saving taxpayer dollars. Adopt-A-Highway is a DOT program whereas Adopt-A-Spot is a litter prevention and beautification program of Keep Crisp Beautiful. A Spot can be your neighborhood, your schoolyard, a vacant lot, a traffic circle, or any Spot that you are interested in keeping litter-free. It is up to you! Maintenance of your Spot or highway requires a commitment from you. The benefits to you and others include the beauty added to the area, the positive impact on our community, and a personalized recognition! Anyone can adopt Churches, Businesses, Non-Profits, or Community Organizations! Cigarette Litter Prevention Program The Cigarette Litter Prevention Program addresses the issue by integrating four proven approaches: encouraging enforcement of litter laws that include cigarette litter; raising awareness about the issue using public service messages; placing ash receptacles at transition points such as entrances to public buildings; and distributing pocket ashtrays to adult smokers. Education Waste, and how we choose to handle it, affects our world's environment -- that's YOUR environment, everything that surrounds you including the air, water, land, plants, and man-made things. And since by now you probably know that you need a healthy environment for your own health and happiness, you can understand why effective waste management is so important to YOU and everyone else. The waste we create has to be
3 carefully controlled, to be sure that it does not harm your environment and your health. KCB strives to protect that environment and educate children and adults alike in taking pride and protecting this community. Beauty Spot of the Month Each month, a committee chooses a yard or business from the community at random as the Beauty Spot of the Month for Keep Crisp Beautiful. The winner receives a certificate and has a sign placed in the designated beauty spot throughout the month. Recycling In 2009 KCB began an electronics recycling site in conjunction with Wells Hardware! This expanded in to the collection that is now in the drive thru at the Chamber. Please recycling list below.
