2 Thank you for taking the initiative to inspire your community to make a difference You are helping us ensure children can recover from the devastating impacts of trauma caused as a result of abuse and neglect. Like us you clearly believe childhood is precious and that every child deserves to feel loved and accepted. By getting active in your community you are raising the profile of this critical social issue. This action will help awareness and understanding that the right of all children to have a safe and loving childhood will become a community priority. 3 Getting Started! Raising money online is easy as you never have to deal with money and receipts. Online Fundraising - You can: Register in an existing event, such as a fun run. Then, set up an online webpage and encourage support and donations through our website and Everyday Hero event pages. Online fundraising Sign Up Create your own fundraiser on our website You can simply make a donation to the Foundation at our website Turn a special personal event (such as your birthday, wedding or anniversary) into an opportunity to support our work by setting up a gift page on our website. Here are some simple steps to create your online fundraising profile: 1. Visit and click on the START FUNDRAISING button 2. Fill in your details. If you are creating a page for a school or club, use the name of the school or club as the first and second name on the registration page 3. You have now created your fundraising profile! Upload a picture and fill in the blog section to let everyone know why you, your school or club is fundraising 4. Send the link to your friends and family through or Facebook - it s the easiest way for them to make a one-off donation online fundraising page Page 3

Whether your intention is to run a marathon or hold you own unique type of event, here are some tips to help you on your way; Choose an activity Whether you re an individual fundraiser, or part of a school or club, there are plenty of ways to support the Foundation take up the challenge today and help make a difference! You can either join and existing event or start your own. Think about what s the most effective use of your time and skills. Some people really want to add their own touch to the fundraising venture, while others find it much easier to connect to an existing event and get their friends to help raise funds for their cause. Social media is a great tool for inspiring your community to get behind you and get involved. Who knows you might start the next ice bucket challenge. TEAMS Get Physical- Run or Walk in an event: Get your friends together and join an existing running event - a walk, run, triathlon or even a marathon! Click here to see what s coming up Remember to give yourself plenty of training time if you re doing something physically demanding, and take care of yourself! 5 What next? INDIVIDUALS Get adventurous: Do Kokoda or Kilimanjaro and experience a life changing and empowering adventure to raise funds. Get arty: Ask local artists or galleries to donate pictures (originals or numbered prints) or to donate a percentage of the proceeds of their own art sale. Get slim lose weight: If you re wanting to lose (or gain!) a few kilos, set a goal weight and sensible time period and have your friends sponsor you. Get rocking: Ask bands or local orchestras (church orchestras, school orchestras etc) to play a concert and donate the ticket money (or a percentage). Get on ebay: Sell your donated items online to raise funds. Get swimming - swim laps: Set yourself a distance goal and swim laps at your local pool. Get fit - Bike Ride: Work out a safe, scenic route and arrange a sponsored bike ride. Get baking: Bake and sell cakes, cookies, buns, muffins, pies and biscuits. Get to work: Mow lawns, wash cars, do yard work, walk dogs, help clean out a garage or any other jobs people might need done. Cut your hair Get cutting - cut your hair: If you normally have long hair (women and men!) get sponsored to have it cut short. If you are brave enough, get people to sponsor you extra to have your head shaved. Get free of an old habit that bugs you: Give up coffee, chocolate, smoking, beer, talking, or something you love for a set period of time (e.g. a month) and get friends and colleagues to sponsor you for every day you go without. get baking Page 5

Schools Get dressed up - themed free dress days: Students contribute a gold coin donation to attend school in orange or blue coloured clothing, or dressed as their favourite sporting or super hero. Get dancing - 24-hour dance challenge: Hold a dance for 24 hours and encourage all participants to seek sponsorship to participate in the challenge. Get a movie night: Approach local cinemas or theatres to donate a percentage of takings from a first night; you might also be able to collect at the venue. Get competitive - match the photos competition: Of the baby /pet photo to the student, contribute a gold coin donation to participate. Dress up day Get gifts converted to donation: Ask your friends and family to make a donation for your birthday and/or Christmas instead of giving you a gift. You can set up an Everyday Hero page to make it easy for them to donate. Or... come up with your very own fundraising ideas and share your events and activities with us!
