1 Overview This unit is about preparing for flight and implementing a flight plan. You must take account of all significant factors that may affect the flight. You should be aware of what effect revising the flight plan will have including any effect on the agencies that would need to be informed of the revision. The unit consists of two elements; Implement pre-flight planning and respond to en route and terminal conditions Prepare a flight plan This unit is recommended for fixed wing and rotary pilots and co-pilots. PPLFDC02 1

2 Performance criteria You must be able to: Implement pre-flight planning and respond to en route and terminal conditions P1 make sure the flight path and route conform with required flight path as far as possible P2 carry out navigational recording accurately during a flight, according to regulations and procedures P3 monitor actual against planned conditions and performance making revisions to the flight plan where necessary P4 change plans in the event of changed conditions, problems or unpredicted events P5 implement contingency plans and communicate to parties as required P6 make sure the handling, trim and configuration of the aircraft during the flight takes account of weather conditions P7 file a revised flight plan, when required, according to regulatory requirements P8 conduct a thorough crew briefing in accordance with your organisations requirements Prepare a flight plan You must be able to: P9 collect all necessary information to be analysed and used in preparing the flight plan P10 record and develop all the necessary elements of the flight plan P11 prepare a flight plan that is appropriate to flying conditions, flight rules, the type of aircraft, and the equipment carried P12 complete the flight plan accurately, clearly and in the appropriate format P13 file the flight plan according to regulations PPLFDC02 2
