4 Background & History > In 2011, a group of civic leaders including City of Denver, Bike Denver, and Union Station Neighborhood Company (a partnership of East West Partners and Continuum Partners) formed a 501c3 non profit with the express purpose of constructing a commuter bike facility at Denver Union Station > Over the past three years, the Board of Directors of The Bike Hub have researched other bike commuter facilities, developed the proposed design, and obtained preliminary construction cost estimates for the project Supporters of The Bike Hub at Union Station include Mayor s Bicycle Advisory Committee 4

10 Commitments by Key Partners > The City of Denver has allocated the land for the project at 16th and Wewatta St. > The Denver Union Station redevelopment project committed funds to complete portions of the plaza improvements underlying the station, and the Triangle Building is further enhancing the plaza improvements > The Union Station Neighborhood Company has dedicated staff resources and funded preliminary design efforts for the project > The Denver Union Station Metropolitan District will provide maintenance of the surrounding plaza > Downtown Denver Partnership, Bike Denver, and RTD will help provide marketing support for the facility > The Bike Hub will issue an RFP for a retail operator to manage the facility 10
