We offer each other Acceptance. We are here to share our Gifts. We see the Likeness of God in each other. From each of us our best Effort every day. 2 Dear Parents and Students Thank you to everyone who has been a part of the St Paul s Primary School this year for what has been another very successful year for our students and school community. Thank you particularly to all the parents who helped out throughout the year in many different ways. I would like to thank the fantastic Teaching Staff that we have at St Paul s Primary for all that you have done again this year - your commitment and dedication to providing the children the best possible learning experiences and care is much appreciated. Thank you also to the wonderful Support and Education Assistants, Office, Library and Grounds Staff for all that you do - you do an exceptional job all of the time! To our wonderful students - thank you for all your efforts and enthusiasm this year - you are all our Superheroes! We wish our wonderful Year 6 s and Year 7 s all the best for next year as they leave St Paul s Primary and commence their new adventures in High School. As the year comes to an end, I would like to acknowledge and farewell Miss Courtney Edmondson, Mrs Rhondda Tittums, Mrs Letitia Fazzolari, Mrs Ranelle Dixon, Mrs Veronica Giancono and Mrs Lorna Masters. We wish them all God s blessings on their new journeys and thank them for their contributions to St Paul s Primary School. We also wish Mrs Kimberley Major and her husband Dan all the best as they await the arrival of their first baby. Kimberley will be on Parental Leave in We also farewell a number of students and families at the end of this year. We wish you all the very best as you move onto new places. Thank you for being a part of St Paul s Primary School - we have loved having you with us! Congratulations to all our children who entertained us on Tuesday evening. We are all very proud of you! Thank you again Mrs Barnes, who in your first year of teaching, coordinated the evening so well, and all the staff for your efforts with the students. As mentioned on Tuesday evening, thank you to all the people that contributed to what was another memorable night for the St Paul s Primary School community. As we enter the season of Advent, it is timely to remember others not as fortunate as us. A huge thank you to the many contributions made in classroom baskets - I know that in our own small way, the St Paul s Primary School community can make a difference this Christmas! We look forward to the Year 6 Graduation Mass on Monday 8 December at 6:00pm and the Year 7 Graduation Mass on Tuesday 9 December at 6:00pm, both at St Paul s Church. All welcome to come along and farewell our wonderful student leaders in They are also looking forward to their Year Graduation Dances in the School Hall, with Year 7 having theirs this evening and the Year 6 having theirs next Wednesday evening. Students are asked to come to school in board shorts and a collared shirt (and rashie in their bag if they like) with spare school sport clothes in their bag if they get too wet. The students will be involved in some fun activities throughout the morning, as well as cleaning desks, chairs and classrooms. Student reports will be sent home on Wednesday 10th of December. If students are not in attendance, we will mail out reports unless advised otherwise. If you would like to make an appointment to speak with Classroom Teachers about your child s/children s report, please contact your child s classroom teacher and make an appointment between Thursday 11 December and Tuesday 16 December. The school magazine will be arriving next week and will be forwarded home with students to all families that have already paid for it as part of their school fees schedule. Thank you to the staff for their efforts once again in producing this wonderful keepsake. Enjoy! On the following page you will find important information in regards to Please take note of dates and times for I bring to your attention also the fact that class lists will be displayed outside the Canteen on Wednesday 28 January between 8:00am and 2:00pm. It is planned that class lists will be finalised by this date. The reason behind displaying class lists before the commencement of the year is so that if there are any students a little apprehensive about needing to know what class they are going into, that they get the opportunity to know beforehand. Class lists will not be ed and please do not ring the office to ask what class children will be in. As you can appreciate, the beginning of the year is a busy time for all. Attached to this week s newsletter is Staffing for We look forward to welcoming a number of new staff to St Paul s Primary in the new year! As was the case this year, you will notice that Staff Professional Development Days are set for the first half of The reasoning behind this, is that we like to provide the staff with the professional development opportunities sooner than later, so that they can utilise what they have learnt with the students. The final week of the year after the students conclude is used by staff to complete educational and administrative tasks. Next year, the Year 6 Leadership Camp will once again be in Broome, with the students staying at the Broome Camp School. The camp has been booked for the first week of Term 3 - Monday 20 July to Saturday 25 July. I have loved and been honoured to serve as Principal of St Paul s Primary over the last 6 years. St Paul s Primary and Karratha will forever hold fond memories to my family and I. A school community that works together to ensure that we strive for inclusion and acceptance of all, providing an educational environment where we have strived to ensure that the needs of all our students are catered for, making sure that we treat each other as Jesus did and see the likeness of God in each other. Thank you to the staff, parents and wider school community who have supported me over the last 6 years I am truly grateful. I would like to take this opportunity to also thank my beautiful family Veronica, Jack and Harry. Their patience and support has been the main reason I have been able to do the best I can in my role as Principal at St Paul s Primary. My time has come to go and serve in a new school community, I plan on working with students, staff and parents to make something very special in a new school hopefully, just as special as what we have here at St Paul s Primary School. I wish the new Principal Mrs Gina Burns, the Staff and all the Students and Families at St Paul s Primary in 2015 and beyond all the best. Our School is a great place to pray, teach, learn and play. Enjoy! Happy Days & God Bless! Santino Giancono Principal

5 Faith Life and Religious Education Thanksgiving Mass Thank you to everyone who attended yesterday s Thanksgiving Mass. It was a lovely way to celebrate all that we have achieved this year. Thanks to Father Steve for his ongoing support of our school s liturgical celebrations and a huge thank you to Mrs Roslyn Williams for her exceptional work in preparing all of our Whole School Masses this year. Graduations Masses With both our Year 6 and Year 7 cohorts finishing Primary School this year, we will have two Graduation Masses to acknowledge all of these students and all that they have achieved in their Primary School years. Everyone is welcome to join us at St Paul s Church for these celebrations on Monday the 8th of December at 6:00pm (Year 6) and Tuesday the 9th of December at 6:00pm (Year 7). We look forward to seeing you there Christmas Appeal Our Christmas Hampers are overflowing with all of your generous contributions. These will be delivered to the Salvation Army who will ensure they are given to families in need in the lead up to Christmas. Every year, St Paul s families respond wholeheartedly to this appeal and the generous contributions are very much appreciated. As mentioned in the letter that came home, this appeal helps families from all over the Pilbara who are requiring assistance over the Christmas period. The Appeal aims to provide practical assistance of food hampers to families so they too can experience the joy of Christmas. Once again, thank you all so much for your ongoing support of these very worthwhile initiatives. Ashlee De Campo Assistant Principal Curriculum Corner End of Year Fun Day Next Thursday all students from Kindy to Year 7 will be participating in their End of Year Fun Day. Thank you to FOSP s who have organised the Bouncy Castle and the Fire Brigade to visit with their Bubbles for the kids to enjoy. At some stage in the day, students from Years 1-7 will also be cleaning their desks. Teachers will be looking for parent helpers to assist them with this task. If you are available next Thursday the 11th of December and will be able to assist your child s class with desk washing, please let your child s classroom teacher know so they can coordinate the activity. Children can come to school in wet play free dress but will need to bring their Sports uniform to change into after the activities are over Swimming Lessons St Paul s Primary School Swimming Lessons have been scheduled for Weeks 3 & 4 of Term 1 in 2015 (Monday the 16th to Thursday the 26th of February). Very early next year you will be receiving all of the required paperwork for our Swimming Lessons to commence, we will be asking for it back within only a few days of distribution to ensure everyone is ready for the beginning of Week 3.
