1 Ealing, Hammersmith & West London College Job Description Job Title: Responsible to: Responsible for: Location: Director of Human Resources and Change Management Principal Human Resources, dministration. cton Campus Key Purpose: s a member of the College s Senior Management Team, to be responsible for the leadership, management and development of Human Resources and Change Management in the College, ensuring that the quality of delivery is of the highest standard. To be responsible via the Head of dministration for administrative services within the College ensuring that they are effectively undertaken and that College functions are properly supported. Tasks and Responsibilities To develop a Human Resources strategy that is creative, dynamic, recognises the value of staff, provides for effective management of employees whilst enabling continuous personal and professional development and ensures the College is able to position itself to respond to change promptly and effectively. To ensure, via the Head of dministration, that administrative services are effectively undertaken and properly supported. To develop innovative and engaging staff support, reward structures and quality initiatives that will enhance the college s reputation and attractiveness as an employer. To develop an organisational change strategy that ensures the college is able to evolve whilst providing a consistent approach to deal with all aspects of change management To ensure a modern approach to management of employee health and work-life balance including; occupational health, management of stress at work and pro-active management of absence and capability. To work with the other Directors in ensuring that all college functions are adequately, effectively and efficiently staffed and that staff prepare and deliver learning and other activities punctually and to standards consistent with the achievement of the highest inspection grades and the highest outcomes for the learners.

2 To develop and implement a wide range of strategies for the enhancement of staff recruitment, retention and achievement and ensure that the college recruitment process operates to the highest standards of efficiency and effectiveness. To work with the Senior Management Team develop and embed a performance management system that ensures the consistent and coherent implementation of College systems and procedures and underpins the College s commitment to continuous improvement. To work with the College Directors to develop and embed supportive and effective line management processes that ensures appropriate and consistent standards of behaviour, performance and customer care are demonstrated at all times. To implement and embed College Quality ssurance procedures throughout the Human Resources function ensuring that all activities conform to the corporate quality standard. To ensure Human Resources strategies support and address the College Skills for Life strategy and work with other managers in developing and embedding the strategy. To develop and maintain a positive employee relations framework and climate, co-ordinating the senior level consultation and negotiations with the full-time and local trade union representatives. To maintain and develop a responsive and efficient employee resourcing service to attract and retain high quality employees across the College in appropriate contractual relationships. To lead and manage the continuing development and implementation of all College HR policies and procedures. To ensure these are applied in a consistent and fair manner. To research and initiate new policies relevant to an ever changing working environment and educational sector at local, regional and national level. To ensure that changing employment legislation and best practice is continually embedded within College policies and practices in a timely manner. Responsibilities of the Learner First Strategy To work with other members of the Senior Leadership Team to ensure that the following responsibilities are delivered by Directors and Managers throughout the College. Establish the leadership and management behaviours consistent with the principles of focus on the learner and the learner journey. Create a listening culture both internally and externally to establish shared perspectives. Develop a curriculum that is responsive, innovative and evolving to ensure it remains fit for purpose. Develop and embed rigorous quality procedures that are based around a creative and bottom up approach.

3 General Responsibilities To contribute to the promotion and effective implementation of the College s Equality and Diversity Policies. To contribute to establishing and maintaining effective systems for communicating and consulting with students. To ensure the College meets its performance targets. To prepare and present effective and appropriate reports on complex and diverse issues to the Governors and Senior Leadership Team to aid decision making and performance monitoring. To undertake any other duties requested by the Principal. Management of Staff To manage and develop the teams that deliver Teaching, Training and learning to ensure effective services are provided to the College and staff are able to contribute and develop their skills fully. To manage staff within the designated remit through the College s performance management systems in order to ensure efficient and effective deployment, development, involvement and motivation. To ensure that staff in the relevant areas are deployed efficiently and effectively. To communicate effectively with staff at all levels formally and informally on a frequent basis. To take a lead role in the development of staff understanding of the Teaching, Training and Learning agenda. College Development To work with members of the Senior Leadership Team to ensure that Directors and Managers are: Contributing to the College s improvement strategy. Supporting the College s aim to achieve holistic excellence. Ensuring that College policies are complied with and implemented effectively. Supporting the College s aim to become a regional leader through innovative promotional activities and events. The duties outlined above may be amended from time to time by the line manager in consultation with the post holder.
