1 British Dressage South West Region Regional Committee Vacancy Voluntary Senior Training Representative The British Dressage South West Region committee shares a passion for the sport of Dressage and delivers a wide variety of training opportunities through the South West part of the country. The voluntary committee has a professional outlook, are dynamic, interesting and experienced in their own fields. Each committee member has a great deal of enthusiasm, drive and energy which enables the continual development of the Region. The committee is wishing to make an impact both within British Dressage and to those considering joining British Dressage. The South West Regional committee prides itself on working as a team. Would you like to put something back into the sport of Dressage whilst broadening you own CV and experience? If so, we d like to speak to you about a great voluntary opportunity to become the South West Regions Senior Training Representative. Below you will find a draft Role Description which will be finalised once the position is filled as you may be able to offer other atributes and skills. Applications open on 4th March 2013 and close on 15 th March 2013 and then we will have an informal discussion on your thoughts, ideas and suggestions for the development of the region. The South West Region currently has over 1800 full members and over 3000 associate members sharing a passion for Dressage and you could interact with them all though various forms of training and educational (?) programmes. 2 DESCRIPTION OF ROLE Voluntary Senior Training Representative Role Description The Senior Training Representative is a member of the Regional Committee which includes a Chairman and representatives for coaching, judges, para dressage, marketing and BYRDS. The Regional Committee work closely with the Regional Development Officer to develop, support and promote BD activity throughout their region. Specifically, the Senior Training Representative works with the Regional Committee and Regional Development Officer to support and develop training opportunities in the region for riders aged over 18, at levels from Intro to Prix St Georges. He/she will also receive and implement briefs/guidance from the BD Training Committee and team at head office and will have the opportunity to provide input from their regional perspective back. The role involves:- Develop a range of exciting training opportunities for riders in the region, working with the RDO Take and implement a brief from the national Training Committee to ensure consistency in approach across the regions Support Senior Teams representing the region at Inter-Regional and Home International competitions Represent Senior Training on the Regional Committee and share the responsibility for BD s activities in the region with the rest of the Regional Committee Give input from your regional perspective into the national BD Training Committee Encourage and motivate riders to develop their dressage skills Support the RDO in on-going evaluation of all regional training activities, using this to help towards future development You will need some relevant skills, experience and attributes such as:- Knowledge of affiliated dressage and experience of dressage training, either as a rider, owner, trainer or supporter Great organisational abilities this is a hands-on role Be happy to do the mundane tasks to make it happen as well as the more exciting developmental planning Computer literacy (and access to a computer) most communications are by Be approachable by anyone Masses of enthusiasm for your specific subject and the sport of dressage Other Relevant Information
3 You will have the opportunity to work with other Senior Training Reps throughout the different regions. You will have the opportunity to attend regional activities where applicable expenses will be paid. You should be willing to attend meetings: regional (3 times a year) national (twice a year) Expenses will be paid. All applications forms received will be reviewed by the Regional Committee members, followed by informal discussions with short listed candidates. This may take some time as all committee members are volunteers, but we will let you know the outcome by the end of March 2013 Once someone is appointed to this role, we will make sure they have an induction in to our regional activities and the people supporting BD in the South West Region; as well as agreeing initial realistic priorities to suit their interests and skills as well as the region s immediate needs. We intend to review how the role progresses on an annual basis as it continues to develop, as part of overall plans for supporting the sport of Dressage within the region, which the Senior Training Representative will be fully involved as a member of the regional committee.
