3 IMPORTANT SAFETY GUIDE *DO NOT USE THE EXPLORER SPORT ON A PASSENGER SEAT FITTED WITH AN AIRBAG Do not fit the Explorer Sport on a side of rear facing vehicle seat. Please read the whole instruction guide and make sure you fully understand how to install and use the Explorer Sport correctly. Always keep the instruction guide with the Explorer Sport in a safe place. It is safer to use the Explorer Sport on the rear vehicle seat. Do not use the Explorer Sport in the home, it has only been designed to be used in your car. Do not place anything such as a towel or cushion under the Explorer Sport as this could affect the performance of the seat in an accident. Never buy a second hand child car seat. Always replace the Explorer Sport after an accident, it may have unseen damage. When not in use always secure the Explorer Sport by the vehicle seat belt. All passengers must be secured by law if there are restraints available. Always secure loose items in the car when travelling. Cover the Explorer Sport if it is left in direct sun light, plastic and metal surfaces get very hot and could burn. The seat cover is also likely to fade. The safety harness must be used at all times when your child is in the Explorer Sport. Do not make unauthorised modifications or alterations to the Explorer Sport. The Explorer Sport must never be used without the seat cover being correctly fitted. If you replace the cover, only use one recommended by the manufacturer. Do not allow children to play with the Explorer Sport. Do not leave children alone in the car. Do not place the Explorer Sport on a table or work top, always use the floor. Never leave a child unattended in the Explorer Sport either in or outside the car. Make sure that all folding vehicle seats are securely latched. Avoid storing the Explorer Sport near a direct heat source such as a radiator. Do not place heavy objects on top of the Explorer Sport. Always store the Explorer Sport in a dry environment. Check your Explorer Sport regularly for wear and tear. Warning: Child car seats can mark vehicle seat upholstery. Silver Cross cannot be held responsible for damage or marking to vehicle seats 3

4 HOW TO USE THE Explorer Sport The Explorer Sport must always be fitted forward facing. In the United Kingdom the Explorer Sport can be used on the vehicles front* or rear seat. Do not use on side or rearward facing vehicle seats. Statistically, in most vehicles the safest location is the centre of the rear seat (check your vehicle handbook). GROUP 1 The Explorer Sport can be used from 9kgs (20lbs) to 18kgs (40lbs), approximately 9 months to 4 years using a 3 point LAP AND DIAGONAL seat belt or a 2 point LAP belt approved to UN/ECE Regulation No.16 or equivalent standards. GROUP 2 The Explorer Sport can be used from 15kgs (33lbs) to 25kgs (55lbs), approximately 4 years to 6 years using a 3 point LAP AND DIAGONAL seat belt. 4 IMPORTANT: *DO NOT USE THE Explorer Sport ON A PASSENGER SEAT FITTED WITH AN AIRBAG

Carefully place the harness around your child making sure there are no twists in the harness webbing. Join the two buckle tongues together and push them firmly into the crotch strap buckle until you hear a 'click'. Check the harness is securely fastened. To identify the correct position for the shoulder straps, locate the head support adjuster wheels positioned on either side of the seat (see page 5 no.19). The shoulder straps are attached to the head support enabling you to adjust both the shoulder straps and head support together. Adjust the shoulder straps to the correct height for your child's shoulders by turning both head support adjuster wheels in the required direction. CROTCH STRAP ADJUSTMENT: The crotch strap can be adjusted as your child grows. Three positions are available and the adjuster is situated in a slot in the seat shell underneath the comfort pad.
