2 Liturgy Committee Chair Lead the Liturgy Committee meetings, to be held on the 2 nd Monday of each month (August-May) 7:00pm. Develop and review the agendas for the monthly meetings with the Director of Music Ministries and Pastor. Attend meetings of the Parish Pastoral Council on behalf of the Liturgy Committee. Annually review the liturgy leaders job descriptions each fall for accuracy and update as needed. Strong organizational and people skills. Must be a member of the Liturgy Committee. It is preferable that the Chair serve as a member of the committee for at least one year, but it is not a requirement. An interested candidate must be nominated by the other members of the Liturgy Committee and the appointment approved by the Pastor.

3 Altar Server Coordinator Manage and update the Altar Server Contact list. Communicate regularly with altar servers about sign-ups and other relevant information about the ministry. Work with the Altar Server Trainer to schedule trainings (altar server, cross bearer, funeral, etc.) Manage the list of people wishing to be trained and communicate with them about scheduled trainings. Manage the altar server closet and supplies within the sacristy, making requests for purchases on an as-needed basis. Strong organizational and people skills. A basic, working knowledge of the altar server role. Must be Virtus trained.

4 Altar Server Trainer Provide training once a quarter (or as needed) to interested people who want to be Altar Servers Work with the Altar Server Coordinator to schedule server trainings and other things pertaining to altar servers. Provide training to Seton school students on an as needed basis Provide special training for servers for funerals and weddings on an as needed basis. Strong working knowledge of the liturgy especially related to the role of the servers. Attention to details as related to the role of the server An awareness of flow and reverence and their role in liturgy The ability to communicate and teach young people effectively Must be Virtus trained.

5 Arts & Environment Chair Two co-chairs serve together and share the duties of this ministry. Organize A&E committee meetings throughout the liturgical year to discuss upcoming environmental changes Create calendar indicating dates for putting up and tearing down of materials Communicate regularly with Father John regarding needs, vision, and availability of the church Maintain materials used (such as drapings, pots, vases, tool chest and supplies, etc.) and system of organizing these materials Order needed floral and greenery decorations Oversee purchases of needed drapings etc. Organize volunteers/committee members to set up and take down each liturgical season Strong working knowledge of the connection of the liturgy and the physical environment of the church Knowledge of the liturgical seasons Attention to details regarding the positioning and placement of drapings, décor items on alter steps, etc. Strong organizational skills Ability to communicate with committee members of all ages and make best use of committee members skills

6 Extraordinary Ministry of Holy Communion Two co-chairs serve together and share the duties of this ministry. Hold training sessions three to four times a year for EMHC. Training for Mass Captains is done as needed. Send notices/updates to ministers as needed Record weekly service from sign-in sheets on a spreadsheet Keep list of ministers updated Update Stewardship s quarterly ministry list and contact those parishioners who have indicated an interest in being trained for this ministry Keep the clipboard in the Sacristy supplied with sign-in sheets Remind ministers to fill slots for Christmas, Holy Week, and Easter Masses and then follow-up if not filled Prepare Mass Announcement and bulletin notices for upcoming training sessions Contact school in the fall for their list of school-trained ministers Periodically review training guidelines and update as needed Prepare a short report on any activity in our ministry for the Liturgy Committee s contact person at the monthly Parish Pastoral Council meeting Strong organizational and people skills. Strong working knowledge of the liturgy especially related to the role of the Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. The ability to communicate with and train parishioners for the Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion ministry.

7 Hospitality Ministry Two co-chairs serve together and share the duties of this ministry. Serve as a member of the Liturgy Committee on the 2nd Monday of each month (August - May) at 7pm Provide Training. Prefer on-the-job training at the mass that the interested party normally attend. Welcome and help seat people for mass; find people to bring gifts up at Offertory; make note of who will need Communion brought back to them (and then direct the Mass Captain to those people); pass the baskets for collection and prepare the large basket to be brought up with the bread and wine; distribute bulletins and other handouts; bring collection back down from the altar and drop in depository. Must get to mass at least minutes early to prepare for mass A pleasant smile and/or handshake to make people feel welcome in our Church. Attention to details as related to the role of hospitality Working with others to fill the offertory bags so as to be above reproach

8 Co-Lector Leader Duties Two co-chairs serve together and share the duties of this ministry. Check Volunteer Spot each week to make sure two lectors are schedule for all three weekend masses and Holy Days of Obligation masses during the week. Send a note out to lector group at the beginning of the week asking for lectors to fill in where needed. Send out a lector note to lector group on Thursday or Friday. This is a brief reflection on the scripture readings (basically summarizing the workbook instructions) and includes those scheduled to proclaim at the weekend masses. Put a note in the Sunday Bulletin inviting parishioners to join the Lector Ministry about three or four times a year. (coordinate this with Nancy Lawson, our parish secretary. Nancy puts the bulletin together.) Schedule a training three or four times a year (depending on response to bulletin notice) Trainings are held in church and are also scheduled through Nancy. Nancy also orders new Lector Workbooks in time for the beginning of the Liturgical Year (which starts with Advent) When they are available, you will need to send out a note to the lector group reminding them to pick up a workbook from the Lector desk and sign that they took one. Schedule eight lectors for all eight Easter Vigil readings (we usually do this as early as October) Remind all eight lectors to contact Fr. John to arrange a time for practicing their assigned reading in church. Attend Liturgy meetings once a month (the 2 nd Monday of the month at 7PM August-May) in the school conference room. Skills required for position A minimum of 2 years experience as a Lector A passion for proclaiming the Word of God to the faithful Strong, effective communication and proclamation skills Strong working knowledge of the liturgy especially related to the role of the Lector Attention to detail as related to the role of the Lector in the Liturgy An awareness of flow and reverence and their role in the liturgy The ability to communicate with and train parishioners for the lector ministry

9 Liturgy Schedule Coordinator Maintain schedule signups on VolunteerSpot Provide printed copies of weekend/hdo schedules for Sacristans Maintain contact with the heads of all Liturgical ministries Strong organizational and people skills. A working knowledge of VolunteerSpot.

10 Sacristan Head Term of Service- 4 years renewable up to three additional years (7 years total) (May return after a 3-year absence) Train and supervise Sacristan assistants Create a schedule so all Masses are covered. Read and study Source Book, Ordo, and Roman Missal Pull together Liturgy, i.e. making sure we have Servers, Lectors, Mass Captains, Hospitality, Children s Liturgy of the Word, etc. Go through Check List (see Sacristan Duties list) Order all supplies Strong organizational and people skills. A strong working knowledge of order of Mass.
