1 SECTION PART 1 - GENERAL 1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. 1.2 SUMMARY A. Extent of switchboard work is indicated by Drawings and/or by requirements of this Section. B. Included as part of the work of this Section is the installation of switchboard, as indicated, utility metering equipment and instrument transformers. 1.3 RELATED WORK SPECIFIED ELSEWHERE A. Comply with applicable requirements of Section , Post-Installed Anchors. B. Comply with the requirements of the local utility companies. Refer to applicable requirement of Section , General Requirement, Electrical Work. C. Comply with applicable requirements of Section , Hangers and Supports for Electrical Systems. D. NC: Normally Closed. M. NO: Normally Opened. N. RMS: Root Mean Square. O. THD: Total Harmonic Distortion. P. UL: Underwriters Laboratories. 1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. NEC Compliance: Comply with NEC as applicable to wiring methods and construction of switchboards. B. UL Compliance: Provide switchboards and components which are UL listed and labeled, under UL Standard 891. C. NEMA Compliance: Switchboard and components shall be in compliance with NEMA Standard PB-2. D. Service Entrance Requirements: Where indicated, provide service entrance type equipment and accessories and label SUITABLE FOR USE AS SERVICE EQUIPMENT. Provide all service entrance features per NEC, UL, utility, State and local requirements. 1.6 SUBMITTALS A. Product Data: Submit manufacturer s data on switchboards. Provide application data for main and feeder switches/breakers, sections, and main buses. B. Shop Drawings: For each switchboard and related equipment: PROJECT NO.: FIRSTMERIT BANK /28/16 1:47 PM

3 1. Dimensioned plans, elevations, sections and details, conduit entry/exit locations, including required clearances and service space around equipment. Show tabulations of installed devices, nameplate schedule, equipment features, and ratings. Include the following: a. Enclosure type. b. Bus configuration, continuous current rating and voltage rating for main and feeder buses. c. Voltage, amperage and short circuit ratings of switchboard and over-current protective devices. d. Breaker details (current ratings, short circuit interrupting ratings, available adjustments, range of adjustments and factory settings) for each breaker size, type and trip unit. e. Metering details. f. Descriptive documentation of barriers for electrical insulation and isolation. g. Utility company s metering provision with indication of approval by utility company. h. Equipment sections including auxiliary compartments. i. Foundation and conduit entrance requirements. j. Shipping sections. 2. Wiring Diagrams: Submit One Line wiring diagrams for switchboards showing connections to electrical power feeders and distribution branches. C. Manuals, Instructions and Spare Parts Lists: Submit complete sets of installation, operation and maintenance manuals and parts lists including manufacturer s recommended renewal/spare parts lists. 1.7 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING A. Deliver in sections or lengths that can be moved past obstructions in the delivery path. B. Handle switchboard carefully in accordance with manufacturer s instructions to avoid damage to internal components, enclosures, and finishes. Store all equipment in clean, dry place with uniform temperature to prevent condensation. Protect all equipment from exposure to dirt, fumes, water, corrosive substances, and physical damage. 1.8 COORDINATION A. Coordinate layout and installation of equipment with other construction including conduit, piping, equipment, and adjacent surfaces. Maintain required workspace clearances and required clearances for equipment access doors and panels. B. Coordinate size and location of concrete bases with actual equipment provided. 1.9 WARRANTY A. Manufacturer shall warranty equipment to be free from defects in material and workmanship for one (1) year from date of Owner s acceptance. 01/28/16 1:47 PM

4 B. Installation contractor shall warranty installation to be free from defects in material and workmanship for one (1) year from date of Owner s acceptance. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS A. Manufacturer: The manufacturer of the assembly shall be the manufacturer of the protective devices within the assembly. Subject to compliance with requirements, provide products of one of the following: 1. Eaton ( 2. General Electric ( 3. Square D ( 4. Park Metal. 2.2 MAIN DISTRIBUTION SWITCHBOARD A. General Description: Indoor, metal enclosed, sectionalized, free standing, dead front, distribution type switchboard per NEMA Standard PB2 and UL891, accessible from front rated 480/277 volt AC for use on a 3 phase,4 wire, 60 Hz system and consisting of an incoming line section with provisions for utility metering, customer metering equipment, main breaker, main switch, feeder breakers, feeder switches, and spaces ready to receive future equipment, with physical arrangement and connections as indicated on Drawings. Provide NEMA 1 enclosure. B. Supporting Structure: Sheet steel reinforced with structural members welded and bolted together to form a rigid assembly, arranged for front access to equipment and connections, with all sections of common depth, rear or front aligned. Enclose individual equipment including line and load connections in separate sheet steel compartments lined with arc-resisting barriers where necessary and sealed to prevent the flow of ionized gases into adjacent compartments. Outgoing cable connections shall be capable of being made without having to reach into or near main horizontal or vertical buses. Provide a vertical insulating barrier between cable compartments and the main buses to prevent inadvertent contact with main horizontal or vertical buses. For NEMA 1 construction with rear access, provide 3 point, full height doors with padlock provisions. Provide louvers for ventilation of equipment where required to limit temperature rise. Mount the entire structure on a steel base suitable for setting on a concrete pad. C. Switchboard Bracing: Switchboard including main disconnect switch or breaker (as indicated on Drawings) shall be UL labeled and rated for short circuit stresses of 65,000 RMS symmetrical amperes. Equipment bracing shall be fully rated for 3 cycles (minimum) at the specified rating. D. Ratings of Panel Bus and Main Lugs or Main Switch: Busses shall be silver plated high conductivity bar copper, with main bus continuous current rating equal to the current rating of the main disconnecting device. 5 the same vertical plane. All bus joints shall be provided with conical spring-type washers. Provide a full size insulated neutral bus, arranged for connection of incoming and outgoing neutral wiring. Provide a ground bus, a minimum of 1/4 x 2 inch (6.4 x 50.8mm), the full length of the switchboard for grounding of the equipment and the structural frame. All busses shall be untapered full capacity copper throughout. Furnish incoming line bus arrangement for connection of wiring entering from above or below as indicated. Size shall be as indicated on Drawings. E. Incoming Line Section: 1. Compression type lugs for termination of incoming line conductors: a. 400A and Greater - Line Connection for Main Lug Only, Neutral and Ground: Compression/crimp type lugs, high conductive wrought copper, tin plated, solderless compression type, two hole, long barrel, double indent, sized for the specific cable size, multi-range lugs are not acceptable.. b. 400A and Greater - Line Connection for Main Breaker, Main Fuses: Copper mechanical type lugs. c. Less than 400A: Silver plated, copper mechanical type lugs. 2. Provision for mounting utility metering current and potential transformers in incoming line bus. Coordinate utility requirements with the switchboard manufacturer. 3. A hinged and bolted door over the utility instrument transformer compartment with flush cylinder lock less the cylinder which will be provided by the utility. 4. Main disconnect or breaker (as indicated on Drawings). 5. Three current transformers, with ring terminals at all connections, connected on the load side of the main disconnect or breaker, for use with metering. Two potential transformers rated volt AC, complete with primary current limiting fuses connected to the main bus on the load side of the main disconnect or breaker, for use with metering, if required by electronic meters to have 120 volt AC. 01/28/16 1:47 PM

One control power transformer, rated volt AC, complete with primary current limiting fuses connected to the main bus on the line side of the main disconnect switch or breaker to supply power for ground fault relaying and electrical switch operator or main breaker shunt trip. 8. Electronic Main Bus Metering: a. Provide metering devices as indicated on the Drawings and herein specified. Provide a separate customer metering compartment with front hinged door. Include associated instrument transformers. b. Current transformers where shown on the Drawings or elsewhere specified shall be wired to shorting type terminal blocks. c. Fused potential taps shall be used as the potential source for metering. d. Microprocessor-based metering system shall be provided. e. Provide on each main bus a digital line Meter Monitor (MM) device by Eaton Type IQ 300 or Square-D POWERLOGIC equal having the features and functions specified below. The MM shall consist of a single microprocessor-based unit capable of monitoring and displaying the functions listed below with the accuracy indicated; the MM shall auto range between Units, Kilo-units, and Mega-units. The MM shall provide the capability to communicate data via twisted pair network. The MM shall be UL recognized, CSA certified and also meet ANSI Standard C for surge withstand. METERED VALUES ACCURACY % FULL SCALE +/- AC Phase Amperes 0.5% AC PhaseVoltage 0.5% Watts 1.0% VA 1.0% VAR 1.0% Power Factor 2.0% Frequency 0.1% KWh 1.0% KVAh 1.0% KVARh 1.0% Demand 1.0% 1) Retain minimum and maximum values of voltage, current, power, power factor, frequency, and peak demand. 2) Accuracies shall be maintained from 10% to 250% of current transformer ratings. f. Input ratings of the MM shall accommodate external current transformers with ranges from 100/5 through 5000/5 amperes. Provide three (3) external current transformers with rating sized for incoming service. Potential transformers shall be self included and fused up to 600 volt AC. Synchronizing pulse input shall be provided and when activated shall override the preset watt demand interval and let the utility control the demand window. g. Control power shall be capable of being supplied from the monitored incoming AC line without the need for a separate AC supply control circuit. PROJECT NO.: FIRSTMERIT BANK /28/16 1:47 PM

7 h. Provide a Form C (NO/NC) contact to provide a programmable kilowatt-hour pulse output. i. The display face shall be membrane type and rated suitable for NEMA 3R and NEMA 12 mounting. The MM shall have a durable 8-digit LED display screen. j. Provide an addressable communication card capable of transmitting all data, over a compatible two-wire local area network to a central personal computer for storage and/or printout. k. Provide test plugs for all circuits. l. The height shall not exceed 72 inch (1829 mm) from the finished floor or 66 inch (1676 mm) from the pad to the center of the meter. F. Main Breaker: Stationary insulated case 100% rated circuit breaker, AC-DC rated, 3 pole, quick-make, quick-break, over-center switching mechanism with trip-free common operating handle, position indicator, with Type SWB-D programmable true RMS microprocessor based tripping system, trip rating as indicated on Drawings and minimum interrupting rating of 65,000 RMS symmetrical amperes at 480 volt AC. G. Breaker Types: 1. Type SWB-B Breaker Trip Unit - Adjustable Trip Units: a. True sensing RMS microprocessor-based tripping system shall consist of three (3) current sensors, a trip unit and a flux-transfer shunt trip. The trip unit shall use microprocessor-based technology to provide the adjustable time-current protection functions. The trip unit shall be Eaton Digitrip 310+; Square D MicroLogic 5.0 Trip; or General Electric MicroVersaTrip Plus all meeting the below requirements. b. An adjustable trip setting dial mounted on the front of the trip unit, shall establish the continuous trip ratings of each circuit breaker. Rating plugs shall be fixed type of the ampere rating indicated. Rating plugs shall be interlocked so they are not interchangeable between frames, and interlocked such that a breaker cannot be closed and latched with the rating plug removed. c. System coordination shall be provided by the following microprocessor-based timecurrent curve shaping adjustments: 1) Adjustable long-time setting (set by adjusting the trip setting dial). 2) Adjustable short-time setting and delay with selective curve shaping. 3) Adjustable ground fault setting and delay. d. The microprocessor-based trip unit shall have a powered/unpowered thermal memory to provide protection against cumulative overheating should a number of overload conditions occur in quick succession. e. Where ground fault protection is specified, adjustable settings shall not exceed 1200 amperes. Provide neutral ground fault sensor for four-wire loads. 01/28/16 1:47 PM

8 f. Breakers shall have built-in test points for testing the long-time delay, instantaneous, and ground fault functions of the breaker by means of a test set. (Provide one test set capable of testing all breakers 250 ampere frame and above.) H. Branch Feeder Devices: Molded-case or insulated case per Table below, bolt-on circuit breaker type in group, panel-mounted arrangement in vertical section, consisting of 3 pole, quick-make, quick-break, type air circuit breakers with trip-free common operating handle, position indication, and common trip from thermal magnetic trip unit having trip ratings as indicated and minimum interrupting rating of 65,000 RMS symmetrical amperes at 480 volt AC. Provide sheet metal covers over individual breakers with openings for protrusion of the operating handle and with means for padlocking the operating handle in the Off position. Series rated breakers are not acceptable. I. Lugs for Feeder Device Branch Circuits: Lugs shall be per manufacturers standards. J. Spaces: When future feeder devices designated as space are noted, equip the switchboard with bus and minimum hardware ready to receive future feeder devices. Furnish a blank removable spacer plate to cover the space until future use. K. Branch Circuit Directory: Heavy plastic covered metal frame card holder and card on individual compartments: L. Instrument and Control Wiring: Single conductor, stranded copper, tinned wire with insulation for 600 volt AC working and 1500 volts test, rated 90 deg C for switchboard wiring. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 INSTALLATION A. Do not deliver or install switchboards until spaces are enclosed and weathertight, wet work in spaces is complete and dry, work above switchboards is complete, and temporary HVAC system is operating and maintaining ambient temperature and humidity conditions at occupancy levels during the remainder of the construction period. B. Install switchboard on leveling channels set in a 4 inch (102 mm) high concrete pad. Assemble and anchor the switchboards per manufacturer s recommendation. Provide power, control and grounding connections. C. Remove and replace, as required, fencing, doors, lift-out panels, structures, etc, to provide pathway for moving switchboard in place. D. Coordinate with busway manufacturer and provide all required fittings for connection of switchboards to busways. E. Feeder devices shall not be bottom fed, unless otherwise indicated. 9 F. Provide identification of switchboard and touch-up painting of switchboard surfaces damaged during construction per Section , Identification for Electrical Systems. 3.2 CLEANING A. On completion of installation and before equipment is energized, inspect interior and exterior of the equipment. Remove paint splatters and other spots, dirt and debris. Vacuum dirt and debris; do not use compressed air to assist in cleaning. Repair exposed surface to match original finish. B. Once energized, the contractor shall protect the equipment and/or room housing the equipment to insure the equipment remains clean. If in the opinion of the Architect/Engineer the equipment is not clean when the equipment is turned over to the Owner, the contractor shall arrange for the equipment to be de-energized, re-cleaned and re-tested. The contractor shall pay for all costs associated with having the equipment de-energized, re-cleaned and re-tested. 3.3 TESTING A. Switchboard shall be factory tested in accordance with the current ANSI and NEMA Standards. Equipment shall meet applicable on site testing requirements as specified in Section , Electrical Systems Testing. 3.4 ADJUSTMENTS A.
