1 CASE Facilitator s Guide to Jeopardy Once you have clicked on the Jeopardy portion of the Power Point, begin by explaining the basic rules of Jeopardy. Basic Rules: Answer in the form of a question There is one daily double The group will be split into 2 sub groups and each sub group will be given a bell to use to ring in with. They can designate someone to ring the bell or pass it to each person in the group, so everyone has a chance to ring in. The facilitator should keep score of only positive points and not go into the negatives. Students can use total points from round one to place a wager for final jeopardy. Do not ring your bell to answer in the form of a question until the facilitator has fully completed reading the answer on the screen. If there is a tie, use rock, paper, scissors (ro sham bo) game to decide who gets to answer the question first. You can do best 2 out of 3 or just one round of sudden death. If a team gets a question wrong, then the other team gets a chance to answer the question and steal their points. Winner usually gets some sort of prize, may it be candy or s.w.a.g. Once the rules are explained, and the teams have been made, distribute the small bells. Each team should be given one bell. Read through the categories and the team with the least amount of people goes first. Or use one round of rock, paper, scissors (sudden death) to determine who goes first. The facilitator will read each answer out loud to the group and when a group member knows the question, they should ring in and attempt to respond. The questions and answers to each category are listed below.

2 Jeopardy Administration Instructions The team who rings their bell first gets to answer; if they respond incorrectly, the other teams get to ring in to answer; after responses are given, click on the question mark icon in the lower right corner to display the correct question Note: Some answers will have other possibilities no given on the slide; use your best judgment as to whether or not their response is accurate Click on the house icon in the lower right corner to return to the main game board and proceed in the same manner There is one Daily Double question (Other Drugs 400); teams can make their wagers based on how many points they have ; when you get to this question and click on it, the Daily Double slide will display click the arrow key in lower right hand corner to get to the answer slide To get to the Final Jeopardy slide after all the questions have been played, or if you are running out of time and need to wrap up the game, click on the right arrow key in the upper right corner of the main game board slide The Final Jeopardy slide will display; click on it anywhere to advance it The final category slide General Knowledge will display; click on it anywhere and the answer slide displays Click on the question mark icon to get to the response slide Click 2 times on the very faint right arrow key in the bottom left corner of this slide, in order to get to the final credit slide you need to click past the Double Jeopardy slide

Paranoia, Respiratory problems, Nervousness/racing heart, Impaired memory, Tiredness, Confusion. What are some negative side effects of marijuana use? It is the method of smoking marijuana that is easiest on your lungs. What is a vaporizer? BLACKOUTS They are two things you can do to help reduce the likelihood of blacking out. What is eat beforehand, space out drinks, set a reasonable limit and stick to it, alternate alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks?

5 It is the correct answer as to whether or not a person can still perform certain tasks while in a black out, such as riding a bike or finding one s way home. What is true? This is the correct answer as to whether or not blacking out and passing out are the same thing. What is they are not the same? It is the area of the brain where long term memory is consolidated, and it is particularly sensitive to alcohol. What is the hippocampus? OTHER DRUGS It is a drug often used by students to help them stay up all night to study and is a powerful stimulant that can have dangerous side effects, such as tachycardia, respiratory problems, and hallucinations. What is Adderall? It is a prescription opiate drug, used primarily for pain relief, that has a high potential for addiction and should never be mixed with alcohol because of its additive effects. What is Vicodin, Oxycontin, Valium or Percocet?

6 It is generally smoked and produces intense hallucinogenic effects that last approximately minutes; it should never be used when driving any type of vehicle What is Salvia? It has both stimulant and hallucinogenic properties and is often cut with harmful chemicals. What is Ecstasy? They are two of the potentially dangerous side effects of ecstasy. What are: hyperthermia (can lead to organ failure), dehydration, cardiac arrhythmia, and depletion of serotonin (can lead to chronic depression)? HODGE PODGE It is when higher quantities of a substance is needed in order to achieve the same effects as before. What is tolerance? 7 It is a very powerful CNS stimulant with a high potential for abuse and dependence and can produce severe cardiac problems, including arrhythmias and heart attack. What is cocaine? It is the phenomenon that occurs when certain substances are taken together and can result in deadly consequences. What is synergy?
