3 IRIS Starter kit - Test program IRIS Starter kit Test program The IRIS Starter kit comes preprogrammed with a test setup. This makes it easy to test some of the functions of the IRIS unit. It is possible to generate events by pushing the buttons connected to the inputs and sending messages on the serial interface. The events triggers actions and the result of the actions can be seen on the diodes connected to the output and as messages on the serial interface. 1

4 I/O event An I/O event is trigged when one, or more, of the inputs, the outputs and/or the flags match a predefined bit pattern. Input 1-5 is digital in this setup Input 1 goes high Send a message to the other unit to set Output 1 high Input 2 goes high Send Message number 1 to the other unit. Input 3 goes high Increase Counter 1 with 1 Input 4 goes high and Input 5 goes high Send Message number 2 to the serial interface Input 5 goes high Start Timer 1 Input 6 is analogue in this setup Input 6 lower limit = 10V ±1V (Hysteres = 2V) Send Message 3 to the other unit. Input 6 upper limit= 20V ±1V (Hysteres = 2V) Send Message 4 to the other unit. Output (diodes) Input (buttons) External I/O 2

5 Counter event A counter event is trigged when a counter reaches a predefined value. Counter 1 = 5 Set Output 3 high Send Message 5 to the other unit. Set Counter 1 = 0 Timer event A timer event is trigged when a timer reaches a predefined value. Timer 1 = 2s Set Output 1-4 high Send a message to the other unit to set Output 1-4 high Start Timer 2 Timer 2 = 4s Set Output 1-4 low Send a message to the other unit to set Output 1-4 low Message event A message event is trigged when an incoming message matches a predefined pattern. All messages in this setup should be terminate with a carriage return and a line feed. Message pattern 1 = SET OUTPUT 2 HIGH Only a perfect match trigg the event. Send a message to the other unit to set Output 2 high Message pattern 2 = ALARM* All messages that starts with ALARM trigg the event. Send a message to the other unit to set Output 3 high No match Send the message to the other unit. Network event A network event is trigged by a change in the network. The other unit goes offline Send Message number 6 to the serial interface The other unit goes online Send Message number 7 to the serial interface 3

6 Predefined messages There can be up to twenty predefined messages. Message number 1 = ID: Id number Alias: Alias Message number 2 = Alias I/O Status: I/O Status Message number 3 = Alias voltage in6: Input 6 value limit 1 Message number 4 = Alias voltage in6: Input 6 value limit 2 Message number 5 = Alias counter= Counter 1 Message number 6 = Alias lost unit Message number 7 = Alias found unit Parameters used in the messages. Id number = the unit s unique identification number Alias = the unit s name. I/O Status = InputA InputB Output Flag InputA = Digital inputs and the lower limit on analogue inputs In1,In2,In3,In4,In5,In6 InputB = The upper limit on analogue inputs In1,In2,In3,In4,In5,In6 Output = Digital outputs Out1,Out2,Out3,Out4 Flag = Digital value of flags used for storage Flag1,Flag2,Flag3,Flag4,Flag5,Flag6,Flag7,Flag8 Input X value = Analogue or digital value of Input number X. 4
