1 To run for a role on the Psychology Society committee : - You must be a member of the society - You will be expected to make a short speech (approx. 2 minutes) at our AGM on 26/02 at Wetherspoons on Clifton Triangle - You must the current president to say you will be running for a role by 25/2: anna.sheppard93@hotmail.co.uk PSYCHOLOGY SOCIETY COMMITTEE POSITIONS This document will give you information on each committee role available within the Psychology Society. As a member of the committee you will prioritise promoting the society and increasing membership and participation and will be expected to attend a meeting at least once a month, often more. You will also get some fantastic rewards for being part of the committee. President The President oversees all of the activities within the society. The President will need to provide support, advice and guidance to the other committee members throughout the academic year. Probably the most challenging role on the committee; you ll need experience of what the society does and a strong belief in the aims of the society. Communication Dedication & commitment People management Motivating volunteers Organisation Delegation Recognition on your Higher Education Society President Organising events and the way the society is run (improving your own social life)! Chance to network across UWESU and The chance to engage with the Ensuring that all society good practice guidelines, codes of practice and risk assessments are followed Chairing meetings and making final decisions Maintaining effective liaison with the VP Societies & Communications and Sports & Activities staff, and reporting all incidents. Ensuring that the aims & objectives of the society are achieved. Appointing appropriate Trip & Activity Leaders in conjunction with the society Participation & Equality Officer. 4 Events & Fundraising Officer This position involves a lot of creativity! You will come up with ideas for socials and contact speakers, venues and other guests. You will organise the events. 5 Participation & Equality Officer This role is a direct contact for students who might find it more difficult to sign up and get stuck in. The Participation Officer has the important role of ensuring that anyone who wants to get involved can! You will ensure all members are able to partake in all activities, and you will monitor the Facebook group to ensure all members are a part of it. 6 Optional Position Media and Publicity Officer This position puts you in charge of all the promotion of the society and events. You will run the Facebook and twitter accounts (with your other society members), make Facebook events, put up posters and contact people about our events. If this role is not filled, the responsibilities will be taken on by the rest of the committee, especially the Vice President, Events & Fundraising Officer and Participation and & Equality Officer.
