6 THE LOCATION OF THE TEACHER TRAINING CENTRE IS JÚLIO DANTAS SECONDARY SCHOOL THE CENTRE CONCEIVES THE TEACHER TRAINING PLAN EACH YEAR FOR: 700 TEACHERS 250 OTHER PERSONNEL SCHOOLS: 1 Secondary 1 Secondary + 3rd cycle 4 Midle schools (2nd and 3rd cycle) primary schools (1st cycle) &

STRATEGIC VISION We need sensitive school communities that understand the diversity of personal, linguistic, cultural, social, ethnic and other differences as a human reality and not as a problem. We need well prepared schools to deal with this pluralism with a strategic plan of curricular development; a strategic plan of school management. We need Teachers and other personnel that look at

TEACHER TRAINING GUIDELINES To conceive, implement and evaluate teacher training programs on Intercultural Education, towards a new paradigm of curricular development and school management: Curricular design centred on the intercultural approach; Intercultural strategies & methodologies at school & classroom; Intercultural & environmental management of schools. To increase the development of the professional competences of the teachers in the field of Intercultural Education, that allows the consciousness of the human diversity.

11 To promote the advanced training for key-persons in order to support and increase this strategic vision of educational development: School managers Teacher Trainers Project managers or project coordinators Curricular Department coordinators To promote multilateral partnerships for the implementation of cooperation projects and teacher training programs (local, regional, national, European, international).

INNOVATION PROJECTS RESEARCH & TRAINING European Socrates- Comenius project, action 3.1. : "Educación a la Diversidad / Mixed ability classes To provide a set of strategies and techniques to help teacher when working with a mixed ability group of students; Strategies & technics were planned, put into practice and evaluated. A CD-ROM teaching materials; Seminars and training courses; A European training course.

19 2008/2011 Multilateral Cooperation project Lifelong Learning Programme - Comenius Intercultural & Environmental Management of Schools, coordinator: University Cá Foscari of Venice, Italy. WEB : Training needs survey; European Master course for school managers on Intercultural & Environmental management of schools; Conception of the training model and e-learning platform; On-line edition of scientific materials; Evaluation report of the project;

20 20 TARGET: School management has to be improved so that education & school organisation could match with intercultural, environmental and quality requirements. THE MASTER COURSE IS: a process of training innovation a community of practice a new experience of learning / b-learning

21 DIRECT IMPACT OF 3EMI MASTER PILOT EXPERIENCE IN WORK CONTEXT The PROJECT promotes: the implementation of Intercultural Management Action Plans of some Portuguese schools involved. These Action Plans will be supervised as Pilot experiences by University Cá Foscari of Venice & Centro de Formação Rui Grácio.
