The competition will consist of four medal events, summarised below: A total of 128 athletes, 64 men and 64 women, may take part in the Table Tennis competition. The rules The Table Tennis competition will be held in accordance with the editions of the following documents that are in force at the time of the Games: ETTU Handbook 2014 Medal events (4) Men (2) Women (2) Singles Teams Singles Teams ETTU Competition Format and Specific Regulations, European Games (forthcoming) International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Handbook Scoring All matches in the Singles events will be the best of seven games, while all matches in the Team events will be the best of five games. In both Singles and Team matches, each game will be won by the first player (or pair) to score 11 points. If the score reaches 10-10, the winner will be the first player (or pair) to subsequently gain a lead of two points. Clothing and equipment Clothing and equipment used by athletes and other participants in the Table Tennis competition must comply with the following documents: ETTU Competition Format and Specific Regulations, European Games (forthcoming) ITTF Handbook (Section 3. 3 Competition format At the Baku 2015 European Games, the Singles and Team events will take place according to the following progressions: Singles events The ETTU ranking from 1 June 2015 will be used to seed all players within the Singles events. The competition will be held in a single elimination format. Preliminary round 1 (players seeded will face those seeded 33-48) Preliminary round 2 (winners round 1 will face seeded players 1-16) Preliminary round 3 (round of last 16 players) Quarter-finals Semi-finals Finals Team events A special ranking list will be compiled by the ETTU for the Team events. More details will be communicated in due course. The competition will be held in a single elimination format. Sport-specific events Competition Draws The draws for the Team events will take place on 11 June at 17:00 in the Draw Room at the Baku Sports Hall. The draws for the Singles events will take place on 14 June at 21:30 in the same location. Technical Meeting The Technical Meeting will take place on 11 June in the Draw Room at the Baku Sports Hall. It will take place after the draws for the Team events. The venue The Baku Sports Hall is an existing venue that will receive a full refurbishment for the Baku 2015 European Games. The venue has been used for Volleyball Championships in the past and is currently under construction. Located close to the Baku Boulevard, this City Cluster Venue will be home to the Table Tennis and Badminton competitions during the European Games. The venue will be used for Table Tennis from June and Badminton from June. Field of play The field of play for Table Tennis will consist of one, two or four tables, depending on the stage of the competition. Each table will be contained within a court area of 17m x 8.6m. Facilities Facilities at the competition venue will include: An athletes lounge, which will includes services such as an athlete refreshment station, the Sport Information Desk, television with an in-venue live sports feed and Wi-Fi A broadcast mixed zone and an I-Zone (the I-Zone replaces the press mixed zone and media conference room at a competition venue) Page 3

4 A doping control station Medical facilities and services such as field-of-play response team, spectator response teams and ambulance staff. Each venue will have at least one medical person with Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification Physiotherapy services featuring internationally trained physiotherapists A Sport Information Desk, offering services including distribution of general sport information, results and other key competition information Changing rooms (separate facilities for men and women) Warm-up area with eight tables, each contained within a court area of 14m x 7m Racket control centre Racket preparation area Venue familiarisation Field of play familiarisation for athletes will take place in scheduled sessions from 10 June to 12 June. Transport The preliminary travel time from the Athletes Village to the Baku Sports Hall is 35 minutes. All travel times are subject to being refined in tandem with the Road Infrastructure delivery. Weather Due to its location on the southwest Absheron Peninsula, Baku is characterised by its warm temperatures and strong winds all year long, and summers are usually hot and dry. Based on statistics from recent years, the mean temperature is approximately 23 C (73 F) in June with around 15 hours of daylight. In June, the prevailing wind direction is from the north, with a mean wind speed of 6.5 m/s. Qualification and entry All information on qualification and entries for Table Tennis can be found in the Table Tennis qualification system, distributed by BEGOC. NOCs should check online for regular updates to these qualification criteria, which will be made available to all NOCs on the e-qəzet. Training Training for Table Tennis will take place at Training Complex 2. The venue will be open for training from 9 June to 18 June. All training equipment will be approved by ETTU, and will comply with ITTF Regulations for International Competitions. A total of eight tables will be available for training on each day that the training venue is operational.
