1 With the primary election in the rear-view mirror office-seekers can now turn their attention to the general election in November. The following are results from the May 3 primary election President Republican Donald J. Trump no only won Washington County, but he got double the votes (3,156) that Ted Cruz did (1,542). There were some votes for every candidate on the ballot: Jeb Bush 39, Ben Carson 59, Chris Christie 7, Carly Fiorina 5, John Kasich 206, Rand Paul 41 and Marco Rubio 18. State-wide, Trump totaled 590,170 votes and Cruz had 406,060. US Senator In what some though would be a close race, Todd Young not only won the county in a landslide 3, He also won the election in similar fashion district-wide totaling 659,555 to Stutzman s 323,952. Governor Indiana Governor Mike Pence ran unopposed and got all 3,904 votes. 1 / 8

2 9th District Congress Local politician Erin Houchin, who currently serves as a State Senator won her home county by a convicining margin over Trey Hollingsworth. Houchin had 2,780 to Hollingsworth s 1,228. Unfortunatley for Houchin, the rest of the district did not go so well for her. Hollingsworth won with 40,269 votes and Houchin was second with 30,090. Although the outcome was disappointing, I am extremely proud of the campaign we ran and the team we built, she said in an sent to all of her supporters. We competed until the very end while getting outspent and attacked - with your support, we finished a strong second in this crowded field.... Thank you to everyone who made phone calls, knocked on doors, wrote letters, stuffed envelopes or otherwise contributed to the cause. We made a lot of new friends along the way and had a lot of fun. Houchin said she will take some time off, but then turn her attention back to representing her district in the state senate. 3 State Rep District 73 Steve Davisson not only won Washington County easily over Michael A. Harkness, 3, , he won the entire district in convincing fashion. Davisson totaled 7,889 votes in the district to 3020 for Harkness. Judge Neither Circuit Court Judge Larry W. Medlock nor Superior Court Judge Frank Newkirk Jr. were opposed in the May 3 primary. Medlock got 4,077 votes and Newkirk totaled 4,148. County Clerk Sarah Milligan was unopposed for Clerk of the Circuit Court and totaled 3,665 votes. County Treasurer The Republican party did not have a candidate in the primary race for county treasurer. County Coroner 3 / 8

4 Russell (Rusty) Fultz was unopposed as the Republican candidate for County Coroner and collected 3,795 votes. County Surveyor Jeffrey D. Souder was unopposed as county surveyor. He totaled 3,863 votes. County Commissioner District 1 Phillip D. (Phil) Marshall was unopposed in his primary race and totaled 3,830 votes. County Commissioner District 3 Rick Roberts was unopposed in the primary in his district. He collected 3,714 votes. County Council at large (Vote for three) Todd M. Ewen got 2,382 votes, Gerald R. 5 Salem 3 Ron Haendiges defeated Jason Cockerill Monroe Amelia Voyles beat Ruth Gay Vernon Kyra Stephenson beat Robert Hoar State Convention Delegates The top four: Randall Bills (2,075); Erin Houchin (2,760), Marvin L. 6 Democrats President Hillary Clinton won Washington County with 999 votes compared to Bernie Sanders, who had 932. The state was just the opposite with Sanders totaling 334,977 votes to beat Clinton, who had 302,829. US Senate Baron Hill ran unopposed in the Democratic primary for the US Senate seat. He totaled 1,731 votes. Governor John R. Gregg was unopposed in the race for the right to face Governor Mike Pence in the general election. Gregg had 1,634 votes. 9th District US Congress Washington County voted along the lines as the rest of the district in the primary for the 9th district US Congressional seat. Shelli Yoder totaled 1,295 votes. Her closest competitior was James R. McClure who had just 6 / 8

7 205 votes. District-wide, Yoder had 43,571 votes compared to her next closest competitor s 7,214. State Rep District 73 Douglas Leatherbury ran unopposed in the primary for the District 73 seat. He totaled 1,588 votes. County Clerk Rita Martin ran unopposed in her bid four Clerk of the Circuit Court. She totaled 1,721 votes. County Treasurer Current Washington County Clerk defeated her opponent in the primary race for County Treasurer. Batt had 1,265 votes and Kevin Stewart had 650.
