3 AUSTRALIA Working Holiday Visa Australia's Working Holiday Maker Programme The Working Holiday Maker (WHM) programme aims to promote international understanding. It provides opportunities for resourceful, self-reliant and adaptable young people to holiday in Australia and to supplement their funds through incidental employment. VISA FIRST specialise in administering WHM visa applications in Australia. You can apply for a WHM if: You are aged between 18 to 30 inclusive at the date of application, you have no dependent children, you have not received an Australian WHM visa before, you hold a passport from: Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea (Republic of), Malta, the Netherlands, rway, Sweden, Taiwan or the United Kingdom. What conditions will apply to my visa? Visa holders can have a visa label placed in their passport after arriving in Australia to show employers their right to work. Visa holders will not be charged for the visa label and can get their label at the Sydney Airport between 6 am and 11 pm (7 days a week). Alternatively visa labels can also be printed at the nearest office of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) after arrival in Australia. See a list of addresses of DIAC offices. You cannot work for longer than 6 months in the same position, in the same location, doing the same work. The purpose of the WHM visa is to holiday, supplemented by incidental employment; You cannot engage, for more than 4 months, in any studies or training while in Australia; You are expected to bring sufficient funds to support yourself during your initial stay in Australia; You must ensure that your passport will be valid for the entire period of your stay in Australia. Will I need a medical examination? Health requirements for Working Holiday Visa applicants are assessed at the time of lodging an application and will vary depending on the country of passport and travel/residence history. Applicants may be required to undergo a chest x-ray and/or a medical examination as part of their visa application under certain circumstances, as well as to declare their health status on the visa application form. The most frequent situations where a chest x-ray and/or medical examinations may be required are cases where: You have spent more than 3 consecutive months in the last 5 years in a country considered to be of a very high health risk in terms of tuberculosis; You have been in close contact with a person who has, or has had, active tuberculosis; You have had a Chest X-ray which showed an abnormality; You are likely to enter an Australian hospital or other health care facility for any purpose; You are likely to work in or attend an Australian preschool-aged child care centre (including preschools and creches); You are likely to require assistance with mobility and/or incur medical costs or require treatment or medical follow up for a particular disease while in Australia. 3

4 AUSTRALIA Working Holiday Visa NB: If you fall into any of the above cases your visa application will take approximately 8-12 weeks to process from the date that your results are forwarded for assessment. Please do not undergo any health examinations in advance! Health examinations must be taken by doctors and radiologists approved by the Australian Immigration Authorities and details on those will be sent to you if necessary at a later stage. Please do not enclose any medical/x-ray results with your application form. * te: You may apply for a second Working Holiday Visa if you can provide evidence that you have worked for a minimum of three (3) months as a seasonal worker in regional Australia on your first Working Holiday visa. Do I need a bank statement stating I have $5,000 Australian dollars? You are not required to provide a bank statement for the visa. However you will be required to declare on the application form that you will have sufficient funds to support your self and to cover your return flight - min AUD 5000 (approx. 4200). You may also be required to provide proof of sufficient funds upon arrival in Australia. How long will my visa be valid for? Once your visa is approved, you will have 12 months to arrive in Australia. After you arrive in Australia, you will be allowed to stay in Au stralia for a maximum of 12 months *. 9 Refund Policy As soon as payment is received, the client is deemed to have engaged the service of Visa First. Our service is our professional advise and expertise. Once the service fee is paid by the client, our service begins and it cannot be returned, whether or not the client has changed his mind or no longer wishes to utilise it. If a client submits a refund request within 30 minutes of payment, they may be entitled to a partial refund, if the service has not been provided to them and/or work has not commenced on their fil. Complaints Process At Visa First we do everything we can to make sure you receive the best possible service. If you feel that we have not achieved this goal we have set up a complaints handling process: Where an officia complaint is received by Visa First, the company will record the nature of the complaint and issue an acknowledgement to the client within 5 business days of receiving the complaint. The acknowledgement will provide the client with the contact name who is responsible for dealing with the complaint. The officia complaint must be made by (you may also write, although this will slow down the process), and confi m that the client wishes to enter this process. Visa First will investigate the complaint as swiftly as possible and where applicable, the complainant will receive a regular written update on the progress of the investigation at intervals of not more than 20 business days. Visa First will try to resolve the complaint within 40 business days of having received the complaint. If the complaint cannot be resolved within 40 business days, the Firm will write to the complainant notifying them of the anticipated timeframe for the conclusion of the investigation. Within 5 business days of the conclusion of the investigation of the complaint, Visa First will issue a resolution letter detailing the outcome of the investigation. This letter will include, if applicable, an explanation of the terms of any offer that the company is prepared to make in settlement of the complaint. SIM Pack: You will need an Australia Ready To Go SIM pack before you leave for Australia so that you can provide your Australian contact number to your friends and family before departing, and to employment agencies, when you get there. You will receive and Australian SIM card along with instructions for unblocking your current mobile handset before you go. 2. Kickstart Arrival Pack: KickStart Australia is an arrival pack designed to provide you with everything you need when you first arrive in Australia. You will receive an orientation designed as a means to supply you with all of the information necessary for the working holiday. Our job advice service will provide you with a list of recruitment agencies so you can be quickly pointed in the right direction and find out where to start applying for jobs straight away. TAXSAVER Pack: You will need a Tax File Number (TFN) before you start working in Australia. If you don t have a Tax File Number before you go, you will begin paying income tax at a higher rate of 48% on all income earned. A quick and easy way to get around this is to have your Tax File Number application prepared before you leave. You can now register for a TAXSAVER Pack and we will prepare your TFN application to be lodged on the date of your arrival in Australia. EXTENSION Service: Most people leave for Australia excited and not knowing how long they will spend there. Under the conditions of the Working Holiday visa you are not allowed to work longer than 6 months in any position in Australia.
