Primary School Sport Hope Park Sports Hope Park Sports aims to enhance young people s opportunities to participate in a wide range of sports as well as raising the standards of sport within primary schools across Liverpool. Through innovative schemes, initiatives and programmes as well as delivering nationally recognised awards and hosting tournaments, Hope Park Sports offers a highly enjoyable, high quality sporting experience delivered on the grounds of Liverpool Hope University or on your school premises.

Introduction Hope Park Sports Sport Development section aims to provide primary schools with the opportunity to experience a wide variety of sport through its extensive range of programmes and tournaments. In this booklet you will read about our Summer School Initiative, School Sport Tournaments, Sports Leaders UK Young Leader Award, Inter-Generational Programme, Sport Fitness Awareness Day and how you can utilise the skills of our qualified and voluntary sports coaches. With over 10 years experience Hope Park Sports is accomplished at designing and developing activities to suit the requirements and desires of primary school children. We understand the importance of having fun whilst learning, and learning whilst having fun. Our sports coaches adopt an all-inclusive approach to their delivery and ensure that every child matters. Hope Park Sports Facilities Sports Hall Indoor Cricket Lanes Badminton Courts Volleyball Courts Astro Turf Hockey Pitch Football Pitch Basketball Courts Rugby Pitch

Summer School Initiative The Summer School Initiative (SSI) is a day long event and provides the opportunity for up to 120 children from your school to participate in up to eight different sports. The SSI utilises all the facilities at Hope Park Sports: a full sized sports hall (including indoor cricket lanes), astro turf, rugby and football pitches. Sports delivered can include trampolining, noncontact boxing, basketball, cricket, football, dance, handball and many, many more. For younger year groups more play/game type activities will be delivered. The SSI can become fully booked very quickly and all preferred dates will be allocated on a first come first served basis so it is advisable to book at the earliest opportunity to avoid disappointment. The SSI day starts at 9.30am and ends at 3.00pm (times can be altered to suit your particular requirements). Reception and Year per child Young Leader Award Other year groups: 4.00 per child The Young Leader Award is a programme of leadership training for young people that promotes working with younger children & teaching leadership skills through a range of games and activities. Hope Park Sports are able to deliver the Award in two ways: 6-8 weeks/hours Delivered by a sports coach on the school premises, at the end of each programme the children will be assessed and receive a certificate accredited by Sports Leaders UK. Each programme costs 150 which includes full delivery, management, assessment and up to 30 certificates. Sports Tournaments (12 hours) Hope staff will deliver a programme for six weeks (6 hours), to 30 children before selecting up to 10 pupils to attend a further six weeks of training. The selected pupils will be trained in the fundamental aspects of four sports before spending two weeks learning how to set up a sports tournament. They will learn about what kind of people and what jobs are required to run a successful tournament. On completion the Young Leaders will be able to manage, co-ordinate and deliver a successful sports tournament and will receive an additional certificate to recognize their achievement from Liverpool Hope. The Young Leader Sports Tournament package costs 240 which includes full delivery, management, assessment and up to 30 certificates accredited by Sports Leaders UK and Hope University.

Inter Generational Sports Day The Inter-Generational Sports Day can take place either at your school or within the sports hall at Hope Park Sports. Up to 35 children are invited to take part in the event along with two of their grandparents, elderly friends or relatives. The programme is designed to improve the relationship and interaction between young children and the older generation through sport. It is also an invaluable opportunity for all grandparents, elderly friends and relatives to witness the children having lots of fun whilst playing sport. For 120 per school, up to four sports coaches will deliver separate activities (that promise not to be too strenuous, and contact free!) for up to three hours. Tri-golf, indoor athletics, rounders and parachute games have been delivered in previous years. Sports Fitness Awareness Day Our sports coaches will visit your school for one day and deliver up to ten separate 30 minute fun fitness sessions for as many as 300 children. All the activities promote the importance of staying active through sport and demonstrate how fitness can be exciting as well as educational. To deliver this programme a sports coach and a Fitness Instructor will visit your school for the day at a cost of 150.

School Sport Competition Is your school competitive in sport? Over the past ten years we have organised and hosted many school sport competitions. We have the facilities to deliver most sports including basketball, football, hockey, netball, rounders and rugby. In line with recent changes in the infrastructure of school sport, we are offering our services as competition providers. For a nominal fee we can deliver a high standard of competition using our fantastic resources, paid sports coaches and student volunteers. We already offer two tournaments (Hope Challenge Cup) and want to grow our achieved reputation as professional competition providers. 2011/12 Academic Year October 2011: Basketball: 50 per school (min. six schools required) December 2011: Hope Challenge Cup (Football and High 5 s Netball) Free of charge February 2012: Tag Rugby: 50 per school (min six schools required) April 2012: Rounders: 50 per school (min six schools required) June 2012: Hope Challenge Cup (Kwik Cricket) Free of charge Actual dates t.b.c. depending on level of interest If you are interested in competing in any of the above tournaments please let us know. 6 Hope Challenge Cup Winter: Football and Netball Summer: Kwik Cricket Year 6 only Free Entry The Hope Challenge Cup is a bi-annual competition that is completely free of charge to all schools that enter. The inter-school tournament aims to provide healthy competition between primary schools as well as giving each child the opportunity to represent their own school team. Each competitor will receive a participatory medal and there will be trophies awarded to the winning team(s). Sports Coaches At Hope Park Sports we have an extremely careful selection process when it comes to employing new sports coaches. All of our coaches are qualified and have been CRB checked before they are deployed to work in primary schools and all CRB numbers are available upon request. If you wish to arrange for our sports coaches to deliver sports sessions within your school for any length of time and for any purpose please contact us. We regularly monitor our coaches work to ensure that our high standards of delivery and supervision are maintained. We welcome any feedback so that our coaches can improve upon their coaching style and/or work ethic.

Gymnastics Club The Gymnastic club is led by our Gymnastics coaches. The coaches use their expertise and experience to plan and deliver structured sessions that will improve each individual s gymnastic ability. Does your school (or PTA) have fun days?
